Heya! This is Jonesy from Nevermore Live Broadcast. Me and Maple are overjoyed to be making our first post for our fandom events segment!
Tumblr user @chaotically--calm, a renowned artist of both the Nevermore Webtoon fandom and his own project Polyphonia, has set out as of March 3rd onto the Nevermore tag to promote his newest project: the Nevermore Diva Tournament
I messaged Chaotically, asking if he’d be open to an interview about this event, and allowing me to delving into a series of questions about the tournament and what it is.
What exactly is it? And how will it be formatted? A poll or bracket perhaps?”
C: “It’s a contest to determine which character is most diva. I have it set up as a bracket that I’ll be translating into polls for easy use. The updated bracket will be posted after each round.”
You mentioned inspiration from the YouTuber Blake Jennings. Would you care to elaborate on that and is there anything else that has inspired you for this idea?
C: “One of his videos from a few years ago was a similar concept, with the only differences being him using characters from Hades and being the sole determination of rank and winner, whereas I’m merely a moderator/announcer.
I was also inspired by the sexypeople contests every year, so depending on how this first one goes, I may run such contests again.”
J: “Hopefully this year runs smoothly so you can continue it! It’d be nice to have a tradition like that.”
C: “I’d like that. That’s why the tag specifies the year, actually.”
Is there any character you suspect may win this competition or do you believe it’s anyone’s game?
C: “I’d say there’s a fair chance for anyone, but without taking my own bias into consideration, I think Ada and Annabel Lee may have a decent jump on the others due to their recent developments.
However, some of the characters I haven’t announced yet may also take a sudden leap in popularity. I do want some surprises for this.”
J: “Mhm, I see I see. Truly some great moments within the comic than could be argued for Annabel and Ada’s cases, so I’d be likely to agree with your prediction, but I also hope the same to be surprised by this.”
C: “There’s no fun in it if you know how it ends.”
On the subject of potential winners, will there be a podium for 2nd and 3rd place? Or any runner up mentions?
C: “The top three will be announced formally in it’s own post, but I will be sharing the bracket’s progress as we go on, so the results will be visible for anyone who wants them.”
While this is up to the people’s vote, do you personally believe in a standard on what makes a nevermore character diva? Or were the divas the friends we made along the way?
C: “That’s a good question. While people have their own personal definition of diva, I’d think that a diva is someone who is above petty matter, who carries themself with a level of pride and apathy that bystanders can’t help but admire. But for this contest, voters are free to use my definition or their own.”
J: “I’d venture to agree with your definition, but admire your looseness in its denotation for the people to make their choices in the polls!”
For the people looking to participate; how may somebody contribute their suggestions and propaganda for their favorite character to potentially win?
C: “Anyone who wants to contribute to their favourite character’s victory can send pictures of the character and reason why they should win to my inbox, where I will then add to the polls.
One thing to note, though, is that I’ll only be taking three pictures per character on the poll, and if I get more then it will be moved to a propaganda post reblogged from the poll.”
What types of propaganda are allowed to be submitted? (images, writing, drawings, etc) And is there a limit on when they may submit it by?
C: “Anything sfw works as long as I can add it to the posts. The final day to submit for the characters is the 9th of March or the day before voting commences.
The pictures being added to the polls are one per person, first come, first serve if there’s a lot for one character. But if only one person were to submit a lot of pictures for one character, the poll would likely be all their pictures, with credit. (Everyone who submits without anon will be credited.)”
Thank you to Chaotically for taking the time to let Nevermore Live Broadcast interview you! Here’s to a good time with the polls!
