"Never had luck or never needed it? That's pretty bold if I do say so myself," the card master chuckled. "Tell me, what would you do if your luck ran out? Along with your time?"
“Well luck’s your game, Mr. Fate” Ekko said, smiling up at the man, “I make my own.” He patted his Zero Drive as he said that. “But if this puppy ever dies out on me, I’m sure I’ll figure something out. I’m pretty resourceful.”
The card master blinks at the boy a bit. “Mister? How old do you think I am?” he chuckles a bit. “Twisted Fate, TF, or even Fate will do.”
Leaning down real low in Ekko’s face, a huge grin spread across Twisted Fate’s face. “But if you’re in the middle of a tussle, what will you do? Do you think you’re so resourceful that you could save yourself in a split second?” he spoke, a threatening tone in his voice for just a moment. Twisted Fate meant well, but he certainly enjoyed shaking up those who didn’t believe in luck.
“Well you’re older than me,” He said with a chuckle, “Technically anyway, I’ve been catching up.”
He took a somewhat cocky pose, setting his bat on his shoulder and grinning at the older man:
“But trust me, TF, all I need is a split second.”
Raising a brow at the boy for a moment, Twisted Fate couldn’t help but shake his head with a chuckle.
“Guess we’ll have to test that out on the battlefield sometime, won’t we kid,” he grinned, his eyes flashing blue for a moment beneath the brim of his hat.
Shrugging his shoulders a bit, the card shark relaxed his stance a bit, looking Ekko over again. “To be honest, I’d remember a face like yours had I seen it before. You new around here?”
Twisted Fate was more of the type of gentleman to appear when he was needed or when he wanted. So seeing new faces around the Institute was always somewhat an event for the river man. If he had to guess from the boy’s looks and tech, he figured he be from Zaun or Piltover. His attitude made him lean more towards Zaun.
“Kinda new, yeah” Ekko responded. He wasn’t the newest member of the institute, but he hadn’t exactly been here long either.
“I used to live in Zaun, but these digs are a pretty big step up from there. As much as I love the place, they got way more of the stuff I need for building things and such. Plus this place is loads of fun.”
He eyed the older man, noticing the momentary glow of his eyes. He’d heard of some of his escapades in Zaun, but you could never really trust the words you hear in Zaun’s back alleys.
“So how long have you been here, old man?”
