Knock Knock, Who's There || Ollie + Tim
Tim took a few moments to compose himself at the older man’s words. It was slightly comforting to see him appear to be genuinely remorseful, still, the teen remained alert none the less. Why did he even have a button that did that?
Tim thought over his options briefly. He had accomplished what he had come to, and what if this was a trick and now was the only chance he would have to leave? What if that window of opportunity closed once he turned it down? He was was being paranoid and ridiculous again. The teen should his head and moved forward, cautiously taking a seat at the desk that separated him from the older man.
Now calmed down, but still embarrassed by his sudden panic, Tim considered his next words carefully. Still, he wasn’t sure what to say exactly. Ollie was looking for an opinion, but all the young hacker had to offer were facts.
"…You just need an upgrade; new software. They make better than what you have, it’s out of date. If you make sure all your bases are covered, you should be fine. And while you’re secure in some areas, it’s mostly weak firewall defenses."
Oliver sighed, taking a few moments to consider his options. He could thank Tim for his help and send him on his way, he could ask for the kid's recommendations, or, he could ask Tim to help personally. The kid seemed to be good with computers, and the best way to keep your secrets secure, is to hire someone who knows how to get them.
He felt he could trust Tim, but he still wasn't entirely sure. After all he had hacked into QI, and hadn't given a reason yet, but at the same time, he was completely honest about it. Whatever he decided,he wasn't going to get any help without talking to him. "Kid, I'm not gonna lie, I've got some secrets hidden in this company. Nothing bad mind you, just some secrets that could ruin the company if they were discovered." He let out a sigh, "I need to know how to best secure the information I have logged on my servers. I've already got the most important of it locked away so it can only be accessed from my computer, but I know now that that probably won't stop someone who's really determined to get everything."
Oliver tried dancing around his words as elegantly as he could, trying not to give too much away, while still enticing Tim's curiosity. Only time would tell how this would work out for him. It was up to Tim now, would he take the blue pill, waking up in his bed and believing what he wanted to believe, or would he take the red pill and stay in Wonderland, seeing just how deep the rabbit hole goes?
