Obviously Garak is like the product of years of gay censorship (McCarthyism and beyond) in which the only way a gay man was shown was through queercoded villains. Hes a point in a conversation. A point that says "lets look at these caricatures". Our twist is that the character we all recognise as a villain, from our cultural narrative, isnt a villain but he's a person instead, even while he does morally questionable things he's still a person. Hes the reaction to a caricature that hopefully we've largely moved beyond.

And like while we're in a major upswing reactionary queerphobic rhetoric and policy, tv has something of a responsability to ensure that their characters arent playing into homophobic and transphobic charicatures like the "villainous queen". Its imperative that theres some sensitivity in the depiction of queer people, especially those who are "less acceptable" to audiences like gender non-conforming people.

All that being said.

I go into the tag for epilepsy and its all flashing lights. We can’t use our own tag because people without epilepsy fill it up with improper warnings.

Use ‘flashing’ in place of ‘epilepsy’ in your tags. You aren’t warning people of epileptics, you’re warning us of flashing lights. Please please tag properly. Epileptics say this endlessly and constantly and it’s ignored. You are risking lives by doing this.
