Teddy’s Jam by Guy, live on Soul Train (1988)
I can’t even judge the guy in sunglasses dancing in the foreground because I look infinitely more ridiculous attempting to dance.

“All I Want From You” by The Temptations | Special (1989)
The Temptations and new jack swing... an unlikely yet catchy combination.
Ali-Ollie Woodson could sing “make sweet love to me, girl” to me any time. 😍
Did you know David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks, the "voices" of the Motown group The Temptations, released an album together in 1988 entitled Ruffin & Kendrick?
Did you know that album included the duo's foray into the new jack swing subgenre?
Artist: Mint Condition
Song: Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)
Album: Meant to Be Mint
Release Date: 1991
Genre: R&B/New Jack Swing
New Jack Swing remix by Joe V. Ill (Download at Soundcloud)
Reuploaded since to get album art you have to upload from an iTunes file with the art included.
Why isn't Tumblr letting me upload the album art?
I always wondered if Funky Big Band, with its fusion of big band and new jack swing, was inspired by Dancin' from the 1980 film (which inspired the 2007 stage version) Xanadu. (Except it's new jack swing instead of 80s hair metal!)
Bell Biv DeVoe | Poison (1990)
"Never trust a big butt and a smile."
My absolute favorite part of this track is the repeated use of portamento in three part harmony in the backing vocals/on "poison" in the hook. Love.
