I have a short little post about what guides are and where they come from here. As for how to connect with them, they ways are just about ending less really! For getting started I would suggest asking them to show you a sign. Pick something you don't see everyday but that isn't impossible to come across either. A lot of people pick feathers, I’ve personally picked mushrooms (in winter), a rainbow and a whale to be a sign on different occasions. After you pick a sign, set a time limit. A week is usually enough time. Meditate on your sign and time limit with the intention of “telling” your guide. Such as “Show me a feather within the next week so I can better connect with you.” So then just be on the outlook for your sign! Be open to getting your sign in a way you didn't quite expect or that isn't super literal. For example, if you pick a feather you may see one laying on the ground but you may also see a drawing of a feather in social media, a feather on an album cover as your listening to Spotify, someone may mention feathers to you in conversation, etc.
After they show you the sign you selected and you've made initial contact, it can be a lot easier to ask for guidance or messages from them. Goof luck!
