she’s pretty enough

riley’s gift being compulsion makes perfect sense when you think about the kind of person he is.  as a human, riley was both a popular guy people looked up to and could admire, but he’s also extremely kind and compassionate.  in essence, he’s warm and open so people feel open enough to talk to him about anything and everything about their day to extremely personal things. he was never really a stereotype of any generic high school archetype and good to anyone.  as a vampire, his compulsion in a sensual releasing of his natural calming energy that riley has, that leaves anyone around him, especially humans, prone to being influenced by his will.  the idea of taking away someone’s free will, however, is something that doesn’t sit right with him so he hardly uses it but running on high both anger and being manipulated by victoria, he used that skill to place his authority as the other of the newborns and came very handy to victoria.  riley’s never been shy of taking leadership roles and was his school president and really good with words so his placement in the vibe world having to do with influence and control, both things he had as a human, make perfect sense. however, riley’s lack of control over leaving and wanting to return to his life, wanting to have his normal college experience, he can be emotionally sad very often so it’s internalized inwardly into an emotion he can release without seeming weak: his anger. constantly proving he’s the strongest by embarrassing other newborns in duels.  to secure the one thing he is in control of, being the alpha.
