i sympathize w Nishiki bc i mean. that's what the rgg dev team were going for, it's why you got flashbacks and it's why they expected you to play through rgg0 first. i feel bad for his whole thing w Dojima bc he really was in a lose/lose situation where he either abandons his sister(Yuko) or his brother(Kiryu), and regardless Kiryu came out on top (if he decided not to take the fall, he'd get his family. since he took the fall, it only made him look cooler to people), i also feel bad for the things people pick up like having a shitty dad + life just wasnt really fair to him, it's like Kiryu said about not wanting to watch fate deal its hand to Nishiki, but anyway... he came to a place where felt he HAD to do bad things, at first for Yuko, but when that failed it turned into a "need" for power, but regardless of what he felt he needed to do it was his conscious choice to choose bad and to choose murder and to choose to hurt. Kiryu is always a really good foil to antags (Mine being the strongest in rgg3 imo) but he's someone who also faces hardship and impossible decisions, but always chooses to do good, so it makes Nishiki all the more inexcusable. The point being that Nishiki was nearly 30 when he started slipping, and its nobody's fault but his. You can blame the shitty doctor or Kazama (or for some reason Kashiwagi??) or literally anyone else but Nishiki, bc that seems to be the popular thing to do. but he was an adult in a really shitty circumstance and he opted to let it shape him into someone just as shitty, and you can only defect/defend/point fingers for so long, but Nishiki knew what he was doing and he knew he was going to hurt people
