Captain Marvel: Movie Discussion and Analysis
Iâm just going to jump right in because itâs A LOT:
Wow, an amazing character. He legit didnât say one word and he is my absolute favorite. I hope he makes a reappearance in Avengers: Endgame, as well as meet groot. They would definitely hit it off.
The other two amazing characters were Nick Fury and Talos. Both played off eachother well and just made my tummy twist with love
The addition of Coulson was a cheering moment for me. Love that baby
The CGI for her star/photon powers. The blue colors were unique and nice. Props to whoever handled that
Carols goofiness in the beginning. It died off though, I enjoyed it while it lasted
I honestly thought Captain Marvel was going to be worse. Not saying itâs not that bad, I still think itâs bad. But, before you captain marvel fans go about to skip this post because it doesnât appeal to your feelings, hear me out.
Inconsistency With The Tesseract& Political Agenda:
The Kree has been at war with Skrulls for years. Why you may ask? I-I have no idea. If anyone would like to fill me in on that, I would gladly appreciate it.
The kree are after the tesseract. But why, may you ask? They utterly confuse you as to WHY they need it. They are doing this for: Thanos (the space stone) and themselves, to stop the Skrulls from infiltrating their âborderâ.
I say Thanos because the people which Jude Law (his character was so bland, I couldnât be bothered to remember his name) report to Are his minions. They want the tesseract for the soul stone, we know this because thatâs how Thanos gets the soul stone.
How will the Kree use the tesseracts power of Thanos has it? Inconsistency in writing.
The Kree were never going to use it to âpatrol their bordersâ that was politically added.
They said âthis will help control the borders to keep those Skrulls outâ a reflection on extreme right-wingers ideologies.
Not too long before, Carol and Talos weâre having a fight.

Again, what a extreme right-winger would say
And then he says, I shit you not, âwe are refugees! We are trying to find a home! Our families are scattered throughout the universe!â
The universe is a reflection of the world today. Refugees families reside everywhere, from North America (obviously), South America, Asia and so forth.
This addition not only confused the audience with why they wanted the tesseract, but added a huge layer of politics. I just KNEW, I just KNEW they would add politics into this.
And when they arrive on Mar-Vells laboratory, it furthers deeper.
Talos is running around the ship, we think for the tesseract, but in reality itâs for his family.
Carol says something along the lines of, âit turns out he didnât care for the engine, he wanted to reunite with his familyâ and this is largely emphasized.
This is a reflection on families meeting against after being separated. The idea that refugees or immigrants arenât here to capitalize on USA endeavors, but come together with their families.
Border control is a sensitive topic, my cousins were immigrants and I cannot be bothered with Hollywood thinking they know everything about border control.
Carolâs Amazing Control of Her Powers:
How the fuck can she control her powers? Seriously, how the fuck can she?
From when she came back onto Earth, she only had her powers for 6 years. The intelligence said that her powers were so bad and uncontrollable, that they had to suppress it. That is why she only shot beams and jumped real high.
Hell, in the visions we just see how uncontrollable it is. She blasts her beams and it comes back to her, here she has no control over the full CAPACITY of the energy inside her.
Her realizing that her being âhumanâ (I doubt she is due to her blandness) is what makes her strong. But that doesnât equal total control of your powers.
I donât like captain marvel, thatâs obvious but Iâll admit that she is pretty fucking powerful. That much power isnât easily controlled after 3 seconds.
Somehow she is able to control shooting photons, actual star energy into a large mass, nearly like a supernova, exerting it, and then reverting it? Iâm sorry no.
And when she fell from the sky she literally spent 5 seconds closing her eyes and then was able to fly. The amount of energy that it requires to focus on flying is a lot. How do you master it that fast? It would have been nice to see her struggling. In smallville, Clarke always struggles to control his powers despite having them for 15+ years. Scarlett witch struggles, Wonderwoman struggles, Thor struggles, NEARLY EVERYONE STRUGGLES.
But hey, captain Marvel is 150% OP. And not the good kind.
Lines That Didnât Make Sense + Taken:
âWarâ says the pilot Steve Trevor. Mar-Vell kindly interrupts him, âto end all warsâ. It was like the writers couldnât think of anything original. They even have Maria Rambeau say, âIts basic Physicsâ doing a slight head tilt and smile, just like Monty from the 100. They both were also munching on a light snack. Like how-
Not only does it not help them due to the fact that there was also a military pilot involved in Wonder Woman, but they repeatedly rephrased this quote. I was just turned off by that.
âYouâre communicator, you obviously cannot be trustedâ
Um? He had to call SHIELD? They already saw them arrive and ask for files on Lawson. And he knew the situation they were in, they were being detained. He wanted control over the situation so he called SHIELD to make it seem like he arranged this (they were already on their way) so they would at least have a chance.
And then she still lets him get on the plane with all giggles? What? That scene was not needed, it made no sense.
Carol wants to change the colors of her suit because she doesnât want to be associated with the Kree but she still has their logo? Colors mean nothing if you still have their symbol. I-
âYoung Ladyâ says Talos
âCall me young lady again and Iâll put my foot up your assâ says Maria
What the fuck, lmao. All he said was young lady, how was he being insulting? He was speaking to them on common ground, actually complimenting Maria on her looks. Did you see Alita get offended when the scientist called her a âyoung teenage girlâ when she was significantly older? No, because no one really gets offended by that shit.
âYou really going to sit home and watch Fresh prince with me? I think you should conser the example you are setting for your daughterâ
I am annoyed they gave that they gave this cute little girl this type of dialogue. Ainât no kid worried about what examples are being set, and they are especially not going to chastise their mom like that. And this is obviously saying : Women shouldnât stay at homeâ they should take initiative and go out.
Women should be out here making bright and bold strides⊠like telling a guy you will stick a foot up his ass over âyoung ladyâ
And I must add she is a mother. Why should she risk her life and leave her child motherless? What is she going to do against aliens? Carol letting her go blew my mind.
Carol is a bland vanilla wafer:
Yeah I said it. She had no personality. She spoke with the same face and she only looked with expression when she laughed. I would legit call her a sack of meat if it wasnât for her back story. Itâs the only thing that seemed to bring her character to life just the slightest.
Goose was more interesting.
Yes, and? We know she is, we see it. We donât need to be told five thousand times by different characters.
âEarths defense system isnât that advanced,â and then proceeds to say, âhow are they destroying our warships? Itâs not possible!â
Yes captain marvel is all powerful, you donât need to praise the force that is destroying you-

Aww, thatâs sweet. But I donât think-
âWow you can do that? Thatâs so awesome!â , fury then says, âshe can do a lot more than make tea,â Monica then says âyour so cool show me!â

Thatâs it, im done. We can FUCKINg see she can ABSORB THE POWER OF STARS. A POWERFUL PERSON DOESNT NEED TO BE TOLD THEY ARE POWERFUL
