With 3 action packed NFL weeks behind us, I would like to offer some waiver wire options, that my readers can potentially add to their team in the upcoming weeks, if still available in their league of course.
QB - Both Sam Darnold and Teddy Bridgewater are absolute must adds if you are short of a solid starting QB or just need a back-up that is reliable on a weekly basis.
There is a 50% chance that Kirk Cousins is already signed to another team, but if he is still available at the waiver wire, I would't think twice about signing him and possibly starting depending on your QB depth.
Jimmy Garopollo is also available at the waiver wire at plenty of leagues, but I would be slightly more concerned because of the involvement of Trey Lance that could slightly hinder Garopollo's involvement, especially in the redzone.
RB - With the hamstring injury to Carolina's star Christian McCaffrey, it is safe to say that the explosive backup Chuba Hubbard will be their #1 option for at least the next 3 weeks and is a very safe addition to your team.
Cordarrelle Patterson is slowly chipping away from the workload that Mike Davis has in the Falcons offense, and is proving to be the better option thus far. Because of his versatility and the ability to lineup at the WR as well, I would certainly consider picking him up.
We are not yet fully sure how Darrel Hendersons rib injury is, and how it will affect him moving forward, but if he does need to sit out few more weeks, Sony Michel, the new RB1 in LA has some very promising matchups coming up in the upcoming weeks.
James Conner's production for the Cardinals is slowly rising, and it seems that Conner and Edmonds are two lead backs that are currently splitting carries on a weekly basis. If Edmonds gets injured or has few off games, Conner certainly offers some value in the Arizona backfield.
WR - I would recommend you looking into signing AJ Green into your team. He is slowly becoming a bigger weapon in the Cardinals offense and we all know just what kind of numbers he can produce if healthy and on the same note as his QB from his years in Cincinnati.
Next big star coming out of this explosive Carolina offense is the tall wideout Terrace Marshall Jr.. His productivity is not just there yet, but he clearly has a large role on the team, and could easily break out and produce in the upcoming weeks.
Emmanuel Sanders is still proving to us how dangerous he can be, and is slowly becoming a second most reliable pass catching option in the Bills offense, behind Stefon Diggs. Because this offense produces so much on the weekly basis, and the run game scheme is very "questionable" to say the least, I would also look into adding Cole Beasley if Sanders isn't available.
Hunter Renfrow surely found his place in the Raiders team, and is producing very solid numbers behind Derek Carr so far this year.
TE - With Kirk Cousins productivity, Tyler Conklin remains to be a valuable asset to any fantasy team this year, as he is the clear-cut #1 option at TE for the Vikings.
With the amount of points that the Bills score on a weekly basis, it is probable that some of them may be coming from Dawson Knox. The young pass catcher seems a reliable option for Josh Allen in this offense.
It is hard to say which out of the duo of Blake Jarwin or Dalton Schultz is the primary option at the position, but with the recent spike in usage, I would feel comfortable signing the latter into my team.
K - Here, the Vikings productivity comes to play again. Greg Joseph is a solid option to add at K, just because of the fact the Minnesota gets involved in high scoring games very frequently.
Tristan Vizcaino, the new emerging kicker for the Chargers is also a promising add with a reliable leg that seems to consistently deliver points at the position.
DEF - The Bengals defense and the entire team in general is performing very well this year and with the upcoming matchups, the bengals aggressive defense sounds like a smart add at the DEF position.
The Browns pass rush led by Myles Garett is just too good to pass up if available.
The Chargers defense started slow this year, but seems to be slowly coming back to its senses. This teams defense is still available in a lot of leagues so if you are lacking at DEF side I would't mind trying the Chargers out.
Of course if you want to pick up some new weapons you need to get rid of some first. Here are some of the options per each position.
QB - I believe that Daniel Jones' best game was week 2 and it will only be downhill from here, especially with all of his top options at WR having health concerns.
We were all excited to see how Trevor Lawrence can perform, but it has been a huge disappointment thus far and I would recommend you dropping him for one of the options mentioned earlier.
RB - Ronald Jones is having a nightmare of a season so far and is an easy drop at this stage of the season.
Devin Singletary with the uncertainty at who really is the lead back in the Bills backfield, combined with the recent performances of Zach Moss, the mobility of Josh Allen and the strong receiving core I would consider getting rid of him if a better option is available.
Phillip Lindsay after a stellar 2020 season seems to be struggling to find his place in the Houston offense and seems to be very unreliable when it comes to fantasy this year.
I would say that Tevin Coleman and any other player that plays for the Jets, excluding maybe Corey Davis should be an automatic drop.
WR - Back to the chaos of a defense of the New York Jets, with health concerns and unexperienced QB I would unfortunately consider dropping Jamison Crowder.
Controversially, I don't think that Rondale Moore can follow up his break out performance from last week, and with the amount of weapons in this offense his productivity will drastically decline.
Van Jefferson seems like a very touchdown dependent wideout and with all the pro bowl level weapons playing for the Rams, can be easily dropped for a better option at the position.
Russel Gage is perhaps one of the biggest disappointments this year as he was predicted to lead the Falcons in targets along with Calvin Ridley, but that is not the case and with the recent injury on top of it is an easy drop.
TE - Cole Kmet has a huge potential, but with the chaotic Bears offense has no value to offer us fantasy players at this point.
Juwan Johnson seemed like the clear #1 TE option for the Saints, but it seems like the tides are turning and on top of it there aren't many plays in the New Orleans offense that target TEs.
Hayden Hurst was considered like a solid option going into the season, especially if it took little longer for Kyle Pitts to develop, but it is clear that Pitts is the number one option at this moment as Hurst is seeing barely any usage.
K - Last year's star at the kicker position Koo, seems to be declining this year, and with the unproductive Falcons offense doesn't even get many options to kick at all as Atlants struggles to move the ball this year.
DEF - The so called "Legion of Boom" isn't what it once was and thus you can look for another option if you own the Seahawks defensive unit.
