Coffee at the Magnolia Cafe in Murphy's, CA
also been doing some late night thinking, i’m convinced that life is basically a lot of things that are wonderful, strung together with hard things that suck. sometimes the wonderful things end too soon and become sucky things. sometimes the sucky things turn into lessons learned and become wonderful things. sometimes the sucky things are just that, sucky things, and vice versa with the wonderful things. but all of your whole life depends on how you react to the things of life that are strung together. i’ve been hearing and learning this a lot lately, in different forms and trying to become more simple and level-headed in my thinking and in my reactions to the different things of life.
This is so true. It doesn't matter what life throws at you, but how you react to it.
Some people say home is where you come from. But I think it’s a place you need to find, like it’s scattered and you pick pieces of it up along the way.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
3 c. raw pumpkin seeds
2 T. Salt
2 T. Olive Oil
1T. Salt
1T. Pepper or other seasonings (optional)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large pot, bring water and 2 T. of salt to a boil. Add the pumpkin seeds and simmer for 10 minutes (larger seeds may need 15 minutes). In a bowl, mix the olive oil, 1T. salt, and any other seasonings (This year I tried one with salt and pepper, and one with salt and cinnamon!). Strain seeds and toss with your oil/seasoning mix. Spread out on a cookie sheet and place in oven for 15-20 minutes. You should check and re-spread the seeds on the pan every 7-10 minutes. Look for an even, light brown color on your seeds. When done they should be light and crunchy. If they are chewy, they need more time, if they are dark brown and dry they are burnt.
Have a Happy Halloween!! :)

Foggy San Francisco morning in the financial district
Drove through the town Locke a couple weekends ago, it's an old town founded by Chinese merchants in 1915. The town consists of one block lined with secret gardens and withering 2 story buildings. Definitely want to come back and explore more!!
