This is an independent, selective (as in: mutuals-only), and non-exclusive (as in: I'm okay with more than one version of a character interacting with this muse, this blog is duplicates-friendly), crossover and OC-friendly roleplay blog for original characters based primarily in the Naruto fictional universe. You can read more about each of these characters here.

DMs are open to all, if anyone would like to plot something more serious for something like a thread. Asks are always welcome, even if we aren't mutuals, but I may be selective in what I respond to.

My name is Maz, I'm this blog's mun, and I'm an adult who has been roleplaying online since 2008 and on Tumblr since 2010, departing from the roleplaying community in 2019 and returning in 2022—over a decade of experience with collaborative roleplay-based writing!

No god-modding. I control my characters, you control yours. I am, however, completely alright with things like your character(s) making assumptions about what my muses are doing or how they're feeling but, if you're really not sure where I'm headed with something, feel free to message me and ask. Clarification helps sometimes.

Yes, you can like and reblog the things that I post and share. You do not need to go to an image's or musing post's source to like it or reblog it. You can leave likes on threads you aren't a participant in—it's fun! It lets me know that you like what you're reading (just as long as you're not reblogging those threads)! Please don't worry about 'notification spamming' me. It's not a big deal and I don't mind it at all.

I observe 'Reblog Karma' with ask memes or inbox games but, importantly, I do not hold others to that standard; if I reblog an ask meme or inbox game from you, I will probably try my best to send you a prompt! I do not expect you to do the same. Sometimes, there just isn't a good one that works for a certain muse and that's perfectly alright.

Please don't start or add roleplay commentary on other Tumblr users' posts (I see this happening most often on images). Please be courteous to people who aren't roleplayers by keeping your threads off of their posts and making new posts of your own to start them instead.

I don't mind it if you don't have a 'tagging system', that will never be a requirement for writing with me.

I match other roleplayers' text sizes in my replies (and I also usually omit emotive or reaction icons if my partner doesn't use them) but whether or not you format your posts is not a deal-breaker for me at all.

I don't mind if you don't trim our posts. I'm an X-Kit Rewritten user, I can be the one who trims our posts if you don't.

Typos and mechanical errors aren't a problem as long as I know what you're trying to say. If I'm confused by something, I'll send you a message about it. Otherwise, no worries.

Lastly, please do not follow me if you are someone who frequently recycles their blog into an entirely different muse. I completely understand falling out-of-touch with your muse but I don't have any interest in roleplaying with you if you only intend to write them for a few months before scrapping them and covering them up with a different character. It gives me the impression that you don’t really care about roleplaying with others.

For accessibility reasons, I do not roleplay using over-formatted and edited text (including on Discord) and respectfully ask that other writers avoid using excessively-formatted* or edited text when roleplaying with me when possible, as most formatted text (particularly unicode text or, for some reason, Tumblr's colored text) is not compatible with the screen reader that works best for me.

This is why Konari's spider affiliations, apart from his Joro-spider summon, are aligned with jumping spiders. They do, in fact, dream.

There is no such thing as a "pure-blooded Senju", in fact, the notion is laughable.

Not a single Senju living during the end of the WS era can trace their lineage back more than a generation or two without finding themselves directly decended from a non-Senju.

Asura was born 1000 years before Hashirama, so without outsiders marrying or being adopted into the clan regularly, it would have succumbed to the effects of inbreeding, such as infertility and a myriad of other various birth defects, within a century or two.

Asura's bloodline is so diluted that it was a million in one fluke that Hashirama ended up being his reincarnation *and* got the necessary genetic makeup for him to be capable of using the mokuton.

Not even one of Asura's previous reincarnations had been so lucky.

Related to the previous post, here are some more Sōma clan details I shared with @taoreshi —

Obviously, the Sōma are not exclusively healers and caretakers. They do also have many tradespeople among their civilian populace. However, even the civilian trades tend to prioritize product utilization in the healthcare field. For example, a glass blower might make all kinds of glass products from furin/wind chimes to decorative baubles... but the bulk of their income almost certainly comes from the Konoha hospital and pharmacies or apothecaries across the village who use their tempered glass products, colored glass for light-sensitive/photo-reactive solutions and medicines, and glass ampules.

The Sōma clan healers' oaths to serve subjugated people and clans first means they serve those people for free, no questions asked.

The Sōma tradespeople and healers have a bit of a no-fraternization, no-trade policy with the Nara clan's healers and pharmacists/apothecaries. No elaboration. ꉂ(≧▽≦)

Some Sōma clan tidbits that I shared with @chiariuchiha —

The Sōma clan is very serious about oaths of silence and oaths of secrecy. To become a clan elder, one becomes more acquainted with the clan's 'true' history, particularly the fullest extent of its relationship to the Uchiha clan. For example, it has always been of the utmost importance that the Uchiha themselves are largely unaware of how deep the Sōma's devotion, allyship, and alliance runs; this was a decision made in the early days of the Konohagakure village forming, since it could be viewed as a threat by the Senju-favoring leadership to know that the Uchiha have a devoted ally who would be willing to disavow their duties to the village to support the Uchiha by any means necessary. For this reason, Sōma elders have always felt that it's important the Uchiha clan remain ignorant of their "if you go, we go" blanket policy in case there were ever an Uchiha clan member questioned under suspicion of conspiracy or something. If the Uchiha clan were successful in staging its uprising/revolt, the Sōma would've laid down their lives for them unequivocally.

The Sōma view Tobirama as an illegitimate ruler. Although they have since disavowed Madara, they still think Madara should have been made Nidaime Hokage. Regardless of the schism among Sōma clan elders and historians about how this whole 'Konoha' village participation should work, they still have a memorial shrine to Izuna Uchiha in their small compound meetinghouse. They adored Hashirama but it's Izuna they communally mourn, even well into the post-war years. As a result of Tobirama being viewed by the Sōma as illegitimate, many laws and rules passed by Tobirama are regularly disrespected and disobeyed in secret by Sōma clanspeople. That's just their culture.

The Sōma clan, specifically its healers, are very specific about who they volunteer to help as part of their duties as healers. They offer their services, completely voluntarily, to people like the Uchiha or the Hyūga branch family as well as displaced clans like survivors of the Uzumaki. Additionally, other small clans, subjugated clans, non-shinobi clans (like the Haruno), and no-names or clan-less people are also prioritized. However, if someone from a 'majority' clan (e.g. anyone hailing from a clan with representational power in Konohagakure: this includes the Senju, Sarutobi, Nara, Yamanaka, Akimichi, Hyūga main branch, Aburame, etc.) comes to them and asks for their help/services, they cannot turn them away. They might expect something like a favor in return down the line but, generally, their healers and caretakers will always help when asked and it doesn't matter where you come from.

The Sōma clan's devotion to the Uchiha extends to even some of the most reviled members of the Uchiha clan, even the people that individual Sōma clan members may disavow or have mixed feelings about. As an extreme example, even Uchiha like Itachi and Obito would be given unconditional support by the Sōma clan despite how their actions in the Uchiha massacre or Fourth War may have personally impacted them. For the sake of the Uchiha clan's survival, part of their culture is to overlook those things, even if they may never personally forgive or forget them. In instances where Sōma clan members are mediating a dispute within an Uchiha clan family, including things like domestic abuse within that family, the vitcims of violence are given preferential treatment in agreements but, if for whatever reason the Uchiha police don't prosecute a crime associated with the violence inflicted on the victim, the Sōma healers and caretakers will still provide services to the perpetrator. Usually, instances like this—that are more civil than criminal—would result in something like an agreement that the perpetrator be removed from the victim and housed elsewhere, perhaps even in a building owned by the Sōma clan (not affiliated with either clan's compounds, like one of the few apartment complexes in Konoha that appear to be village-owned... I'm sure there is some legal loophole that would allow for a unit to be reserved by a member of the Sōma clan under the pretense of it being occupied by an Uchiha clan member). It's not that they are 'siding' with one party or another, they simply have a duty to serve all Uchiha clan members, even Uchiha who have wronged their own clan or have committed atrocities. There may be very special circumstances that enable safety for all their other clients and patients but, in general, the Uchiha relationship is a kind of unconditional devotion that they can never really escape from.

Sōma healers, Sōma elders, or even the incredibly rare Sōma shinobi being in relationships with anyone from the Uchiha clan or Hyūga branch family is incredibly taboo within their own clan. It's an ethical no-no. However, relationships between Sōma civilians and Hyūga branch family members or Uchiha clan members is a huge deal, it's the kind of thing that's a way bigger event for the Sōma involved than for the Uchiha clan or Hyūga branch family.

Miko quieted down a little bit. She mulled it over. Numbing the leg would be beneficial, and she didn’t like arguing with Chiyumi.

So she agreed.

Without a word she trotted over to the couch and sat down with her injured leg extended. It’s close enough to a lie down as they’ll get.

The palms of their hands emit that telltale glow as they focus, chakra gathering at their fingertips. They guide it into the tissue, easing Mikoto's tension first, letting the muscles loosen before addressing the deeper pain. Numbing comes next, though not as much as they'd like to provide. It's nothing more than a simple nerve block. She still needs to be able to function, after all. By morning, Mikoto's pain would likely return.

Chiyumi keeps one hand steady on Mikoto's shin while the other works slowly, weaving the pain relief into the connective tissue.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"It's painful for me, too, you know... to see how much pain you're in so often," they admit solemnly.

Chiari's responses are slow. The world feels like it is tilting each time she focuses on Chiyumi's hands and their voice feels too loud, vibrating uncomfortably in her skill, particularly on the upper left side where the impact had landed. Her eyes, while unfocused, still try to track the movement of the forceps. While trying to keep her head still, it's a frustrating attempt at some control on the situation, keeping her chin tilted downward toward her chest as she tries to maintain a visual on the medic's hands.

The numbing sensation in her leg provides a strange detached relief. It's chilly, but not the same kind of chill ice would provide, nor is it the tingling kind of numb that she was accustomed to feeling in her left hand. No pins and needles. No accompanying sharp twinges to contrast it.

"Chiari," is all she offers as her own identification. The clan name long dropped from use - one less target on her back - or her eyes.

The name, the place, snags Chiari's attention, a cutting clarity in her vision that she struggles to hang onto at the mention of Konohagakure. She doesn't struggle to move away, nor call out anything particular about it, but there's a clear change in her demeanor as she watches Chiyumi like a hawk.

Her right hand wanders up, feeling along her head gingerly, looking for the welt that has already begun to rise beneath her hairline from the impact, and yet, she doesn't shift her attention off of the medic, even as the sensation of being underwater overtakes her once more.

"Fortunate is one way to put it. I don't think things happen much by coincidence though - not to me." With pointed frustration at herself she is forced to close her eyes. The sunlight above is filtered through the thick foliage and thicker boughs, but she still is forced to combat it as though it were being shone directly into her eyes.

"You're a long way from home, huh? Or do you normally wander off the beaten path looking for idiots falling from trees?"

Chiyumi exhales through their nose, a faint trace of amusement inlaid across their expression. Far from home, indeed.

Once successfully irrigated, the last fragments of grit are debrided from Chiari's leg wound under Chiyumi's attention, and they set the forceps aside without ceremony, already reaching for clean gauze.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀“Well, Chiari, 'off the beaten path' is where people tend to need help the most,” they remark, not looking up as they say so. "And I don't think you're an idiot."

Once the site is sufficiently numbed, they press fresh gauze to the cleaned wound, checking for continued bleeding. It seeps, albeit much slower now that they're elevating it.

They tilt their head slightly, considering her earlier responses, the denial of her head injury, the delayed reactions, the way her eyes struggle to track. Chiyumi's smile flattens.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀“You did hit your head harder than you think, though,” they say, tone still mild, but edged with a physician's certainty. They try their best not to sound like they're passing judgement. “You don’t have to admit it out loud, but I’m going to treat you like you did.”

They reach for a roll of thick bandaging, beginning to wrap her wound with precision and efficiency. It's a bit like a victory lap after a job well-done doing the care leading up to this moment. Each time the roll circles Chiari's leg, the wrap is secured firmly enough to protect and just loose enough to avoid cutting off any circulation.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"How's that feel for you?" Chiyumi asks, however, relying more on Chiari's assessment of the comfort before setting the supplies of this phase away.

The more they talked, the more angry she became. Not at them, of course. But him. It’s all his fault. God her blood boiled.

“You’re Right, but I can’t afford to do that right now. I have too many things to do that require me present. Don’t you understand that? Fuck the pain, I’ll handle it a little longer.”

Chiyumi can't help but frown. It's against their nature to push against Mikoto's wishes but the helplessness of the situation causes them no shortage of pain.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"At least lie down so I can help," Chiyumi offers. "I can numb your leg a bit, just enough to walk on."
