"it's just stress" oh thank god, it's just the silent killer that slowly kills you, perfectly harmless, no need to worry
not to be a dirty commie or anything but i don't think any one person should have enough money to solve world hunger and then get to decide not to

the natural lifespan of a fandom is unlimited. when well tended a fandom can be functionally immortal. and yet everywhere you look you see newly bred fandoms withering and dying when they’re barely a year old. barely even six months old. fans are looking at their six month old fandoms and saying i think it’s on its last legs, should i euthanise it? when with the proper care that fandom could outlive them for decades. it’s sad. sad state of affairs we’re in.

i’m really sorry about my behavior. you see, growing up, my family- *remembers blaming all my problems on other people is really annoying and unhealthy* i mean. i am responsible for all the evils of this world and i bear sins like the sky bears the stars
theyre taking me out back behind the shed presumably to give me a medal for my valor and heroism
i think the reason "fiction affects reality" trips so many people up is because they think it means "engaging with media that depicts uncomfortable subjects will taint your soul" when really all it means is that "fiction is meant to reflect certain ideas of the world intentionally or not, and it's going affect your perception of it, if you don't go in with a healthy bit of skepticism"
like playing a first person shooter isn't going to turn you into a school shooter, but that doesn't mean that Call of Duty isn't like. explicitly military propaganda.
or (for a more specific but also weirdly common example) enjoying horror movies isn't going to turn you into a serial killer, but if you watch a lot of horror where the killer is "a gender confused man who kills women whilel dressed in drag, because his repressed female split personality hates his attraction to women because it gives her gender dysphoria" than you should like. be a bit criticial of what you're enjoying. or something like that.
But at the end of it, the point shouldn't be "certain kinds of stories should not be enjoyed by anyone bc they will warp you" and more like "please use your brain sometimes when watching/reading/playing things because every single story has messages in it about important ideas"
Even if sometimes the message is "the author/artist etc put zero thought into this idea bc it's something people make blind assumptions about"
I don't even think you Must Perform Criticism Of Thing Or It's Bad And You're Bad
Just like, have thoughts idk, be curious about what things mean, have that be something that matters to you sometimes

huuuughhhhh yahoo selling scraped data from tumblr to AI sloo probably uughhhwaaauuwghhhhhh
Parent company Automattic will reportedly sell Tumblr content to OpenAI and MidJourney for training data. Here's how you can opt out.
bwwaaaughhhhhhgggh enshittification continues
this is what you're looking for to opt out!!!
I am only sharing this to let people for whom this info is new know that these options are only available using the mobile app version of Tumblr. It is not an option available on the browser version of Tumblr.
Which is different from a lot of opt-out things where you have to use a browser-based version of whatever it is to do the opting out.
Its on desktop! just hidden! It's a per blog setting so if you have multiple blogs under one acount you have to do this for each of them
go here first
then go here
Then go here
What's fun is they definitely already implemented this feature when something happened between them and midjourney months ago, where I definitely remember clicking a button just like that at the time, knowing full well they probably already sold all prior content to midjourney. I just went to check and that toggle was indeed back on, almost like it never fucking mattered.
