(DECEMBER) 2022 Recap

The month of December originally consisted of 30 days. When January and February were added to the calendar (around 700 BCE), December was shortened to 29 days. Then, in the subsequent Julian calendar, two days were added to December, making it 31 days long. December is the month of giving.

On December 4, we went to Cavite because it was Cavite's fiesta day. We enjoyed the parade while watching those who danced through it, who were neither oldies nor teenagers. It was an enjoyable experience seeing all of them join in the celebration of Cavite’s fiesta day .

We returned home to Batangas after a day because we still had school.

We had our Christmas party not so long ago, and I enjoyed the activities the officers prepared for us to enjoy. I actually took my outfit as a problem because I didn't know which one I would wear because I'm not really a fan of wearing such formal and classy outfits other than oversized shirts and leggings. Despite my lack of confidence in myself, I was still happy when my friends said that I looked great! The event turned out to be a success, and everyone had fun.

When our vacation started, I was actually problematic because I didn't have any money, and I am ashamed of asking my mom for money every single time, but then she decided that we should work for that money, and so did I after the work we did. All of the money we have gathered has been given to me and my brother equally.

Following those events, our barangay's fiesta arrived. I got my boyfriend to come to our house for an introduction to my grandmother and brother, then we went to their house and he introduced me to his siblings and parents. We went to bed at midnight after such a long day to rest and prepare for the new year.

(NOVEMBER) 2022 Recap

November is a month of contrasts—dreary, grey skies combined with vivid red, gold, yellow, and green leaves. It seems as if everything is changing, and sometimes the pace of change appears to be too fast. If you feel like this, retreat, relax, and take some time for yourself.

After returning from Cavite, we paid visits to our other relatives at the cemeteries, Calaca Memorial Cemetery and Agoncillo Memorial, where our grandfather and other relatives were buried.

After the all souls day season, a "Perya" opened up at our barangay because the fiesta is nearly approaching. I go to that perya every time I am free and use some of my savings from my weekly allowance to play and enjoy myself. I am actually happy because I have struck two glasses on a game called "Hagis Piso," and of course I am somehow upset because I have always lost at "Colorgame."

Nevertheless, I was happy to see the decorated perya and witness people from all walks of life enjoying themselves and having fun.

Taal opened up their yearly "Pailaw" for the people. Sadly, I wasn't able to see at night because I only had a chance during daylight. Despite not being able to enjoy the nighttime festivities, I was still pleased to observe the traditional Pailaw at Taal.

The Pailaw was an event that connected people to their culture and heritage, which could be seen in the decorations of each stall. From colorful parasols to bright and vibrant lanterns, the decorations were full of life and energy.

As I walked around the Pailaw during the day, I felt a strong sense of connection with my culture

(OCTOBER) 2022 Recap

"October, baptize me with leaves! Swaddle me in corduroy and nurse me with split pea soup. Autumn, with her crisp air and changing colors, is a gentle reminder of the passage of time. "

It was teachers' month, and we decided to surprise our homeroom teacher. We wanted to give him something that would show our appreciation for all the hard work he did to make our learning experience so enjoyable. So, we all got together and thought of the best way to show our appreciation.

We went to the SM after midterms to chill out and relax our minds.

Then came the sportsfest, where everyone got involved in the various activities and enjoyed some much-needed bonding time. We enjoyed the event. After that, we decided to treat ourselves to dinner and drinks to celebrate all the hard work we had put in leading up to the midterms. It was a great way to destress after the stress of midterms, and even though we were all exhausted, it was fun to get together with everyone and just enjoy the moment. It was a great night, full of good food, good company, and lots of laughter.

I enjoyed my classmates company and it feels great to wander around with my friends and classmates. We had a wonderful time catching up on our lives and swapping stories, and it was a reminder of how important it is to take a break from the grind of studying and socialize with people we care about.

(SEPTEMBER) 2022 Recap

"We know that in September, we will wander through the verdant fields, pick freshly ripened fruits, and take in the beauty of a new season and the warm winds of summer's wreckage."

We've got the classroom elections, and, thank goodness, I didn't win as the P.I.O. because I am sure that I wouldn't be able to act as an officer because I am somehow reckless. Nonetheless, I am excited to see how the candidates fare in the coming weeks and what kind of changes they make to the school atmosphere.

One night, someone barged inside our house, and I was shocked to see my mom. Yay! She came to visit! I have also experienced being on an airplane because mom treated us to a trip to Boracay. It is somehow making me feel guilty because I am not fond of taking some time off from school, and I have to skip school to be able to go with them on that trip.

Despite my initial reservations about the vacation, I was glad to be able to spend some quality time with my family and make lasting memories together. After a few days of exploring the island, I was glad to have taken this trip.

I auditioned as a singer for our department's band, which will participate in the competition to be held at Rizal Night. But sadly, I wasn't able to win or be part of the band, but it was okay. I'm fine with it, because I believe that I gave my best effort and learned a lot from the experience and I enjoyed it anyway.

(AUGUST) 2022 Recap

"August is the slow, gentle month that stretches out the longest across the span of a year.

I began acting like a girl this month because I felt I needed to be more feminine now that I am no longer a child. I am now a teenager.

I was able to attend my first motorshow with friends I support, and it was fantastic, though your ears may hurt from the loud bangs coming from the pipes and elbows of the participants.

We went to a store to buy our school supplies as a part of the preparation.

Afterward, we receive an update that we, the students who enrolled at RCT, have to attend an orientation about the school, the schedule, rules and regulations, and more.

Not too long after the orientation, classes started.

I felt scared.

I felt like I would be a laughing stock for my classmates given that I was an introvert, but luckily I survived and got friends who approached me and everyone else. It was a very good thing considering that there might be some students who are not that talkative and are some type of introvert. At first, I was worried that I would not be able to fit in and find friends but soon enough, I was able to open up and create relationships with those around me Eventually, I was able to learn the power of conversation and the many joys that come with connecting with others . Despite my initial anxieties, I was able to make it through orientation, and even though it took a bit of time and courage, I was able to make the connections I needed in order to feel comfortable in my new school.

(JULY) 2022 Recap

"Hot July brings cooling showers, apricots, and gillyflowers." It is a pleasant time of year, with long days and warm evenings, perfect for a leisurely stroll in the garden.

A family friend flew in from Italy for a vacation. She brought us the gifts my uncle bought for us. some chocolates and a lot of minis. The minis were so delightful, with their brightly colored packaging and playful designs.

Since I was old enough, we were called to the municipal building to register ourselves for the voter's slip, which would make us eligible to vote in the next election. As I marveled over the minis, my brother explained to me the importance of registering ourselves for the voter slip.

My friends graduated, and we celebrated together. Following that, we started preparing for the next academic year, the next semester, by enrolling at the school where I wanted to study. During the enrollment process, I was reminded of my brother's words from before.

Just then, we decided to take a trip to Tagaytay and enjoy the skyranch. We rode everything that was on the list given when we bought our tickets online. we had a blast. As we were waiting in line for the next ride, I thought to myself that this was an opportunity for me to pursue something that I really wanted - something I had dreamed of for so long. a sweatshirt. I had seen many sweatshirts around the amusement park, but none of them appealed to me. After browsing around, I found the perfect sweatshirt! It had the park's logo and colors printed on it, and I knew right away that this was the one.

(JUNE) 2022 Recap

"It was June, and the world smelled of roses. ""The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside." Trees laden with ripening fruit cast dappled shadows over the meadows below, and everywhere was the shimmer of that ever-present possibility of magic.

I started playing a new online game called CODM.

I got my haircut after a long time of not having one. I feel refreshed as a friend cuts my hair just before my arm.

I experienced my first motor accident when I crashed into a dog who had unknowingly passed right before my eyes, causing me to fall on the road. I'm glad I didn't have a severe reaction. Despite the minor setback, I was grateful that no one was seriously injured. It was a great relief that I managed to escape from the situation with only minor bruises and scratches.

I also restarted my sport, pool billiards, with my friends, and gladly, I am still great at playing pool.

This month also marks the start of our local basketball league. My niece was one of the muses, and she adored me since I was her runner, someone who does everything to help her out, starting from changing her clothes to helping her prepare herself. Gladly, she won, and it was a blast. Her mother, my cousin, decided to treat us to pancit at a local restaurant near the national road. We enjoyed the delicious food as we reminisced about my niece's success and all the hard work she had done to make it happen. We were all so proud of her accomplishments and could not believe that my niece, at such a young age, had made such a positive impression on the judges and the audience.

(MAY) 2022 Recap

"May, more than any other month of the year, wants us to feel most alive." With the arrival of May comes a feeling of renewal and freshness, an opportunity to start anew.

I was invited to join Flores de Mayo in the role of Rosa Mystica. I was filled with anticipation, not just because of the beauty of the experience but also because I was being presented with an opportunity to give something back to my community.

We traveled to Lian, Batangas, because a family friend had invited us there. We were greeted by a vibrant and enthusiastic crowd, filled with excitement for the sea. It was a beautiful sight to behold as we made our way through the streets, which were adorned with flowers and flags.

It's my Honda's first long ride.

Then our relatives from Cavite invited us to go on a beach vacation for a day at a resort in Nonong Casto, Batangas. We were all filled with anticipation and could not wait to feel the warmth of the sun, breathe in the salty air of the sea, and take a dip into its cooling waters. We arrived at the beach resort early in the morning and could not contain our excitement as we all made our way to the beach and spent the day playing, laughing, and swimming in the crystal clear blue waters of the sea.

It is the month when we held our moving-up ceremony, marking the end of our school year and the beginning of a new one, and I feel happy about it.

(APRIL) 2022 Recap

"There is no glory in a star or blossom till it is looked upon by a loving eye; there is no fragrance in April breezes till they are breathed with joy as they wander by." Similarly, life's greatest joys remain hidden until we take the time to pause and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.

I started loving rides such as bikes and motorcycles. Taking the time to appreciate our surroundings not only makes us more content, but it can also lead to new passions and experiences.

I finally convinced my mom to buy me a motorcycle, a Honda Click 125i.

It feels so good.

I couldn't contain my excitement when I finally took it for a spin. After the first few minutes of riding, I was hooked. The wind rushing past my face, the sound of the engine, and the feeling of freedom were unlike anything I had ever experienced before.

Me and my brother went to Lipa to renew our passports because they would be expiring soon. We stopped by some places to chill out and eat. We made our way back home in the evening, discussing all the fun things we had done and how tired we felt, before we decided to take some rest.

We got invited by a relative to attend their wedding, which was held at the Calaca NAP Events Reception. We had a great time at the wedding, chatting and catching up with relatives we hadn't seen in a while. We enjoyed the music, delicious food, and dancing with our family and friends.

(MARCH) 2022 Recap

March is the month of expectation. "Courage and strength in times of danger." As winter's cold chill begins to dissipate and the anticipation of spring lingers in the air, March is a month of hope and optimism.

A family friend treated us to a trip on a river at San Pablo Laguna. We were welcomed by the stunning views of nature around us. It was a time for courage and strength as we faced the turbulent waters. As we drifted along, I could not help but feel grateful to be in the presence of such beauty and serenity.

I began using fake nails because I thought they were aesthetically pleasing. However, I soon realized that they hindered my daily activities. My fingers were unable to move as freely, and my grip was weakened due to the bulkiness of the nails.

I was actually shocked because my mother had made a reservation at Bistro Taal for my birthday, and I appreciated it. I really do. I enjoyed my birthday, and now I'm excited because I'll just be waiting for two years until I reach adulthood. I am now 16; another level has opened up. It feels like I'm getting closer to becoming an adult and taking on the responsibilities that come with it. It's amazing how time flies and that I have come this far.

I also made an altar for Jesus Christ, a place where I can pray. consisted of lots and lots of saints.

I wanted to make a space that would bring me closer to God, and I thought the best way of doing so was by having a physical reminder of his presence.

We’re getting ready for our junior high moving up ceremony, starting with the graduation picture, where we have to be beautiful after a very stressful week.

The Injan mango season, one of my favorite fruits, begins this month. This month is an opportunity to get things done, to put in the work, and see what comes from it

We awoke one day this month to find our cousins from Cavite, my father's side, outside of our house; it turns out they were bored there and decided to visit me and my brother instead before planning a road trip with their own motorcycles.

I’m very fond of my cousins from my father's side despite our gender differences, because even though we are both different genders, we still share a lot of things in common. We laughed and talked about our favorite things such as the Injan mango season, and how excited we were to get our hands on some of these succulent fruits. We also talked about some of our recent accomplishments, such as passing our exams or getting an internship

We returned to see my grandfather at the memorial this month because we have decided to sell our Jeep to raise funds to have my grandfather's grave turned into a house so that we would have a place to sit every time we visit Grandpa and also to make him feel comfortable even though he is no longer alive.

(JANUARY) 2022 Recap

I was a fifteen-year-old girl who sneaked out to have samgyupsal with my cousins. We had a very busy day because we are building piggeries for adult female breeding pigs because we do piggeries and pig care as a business.

My cousins suddenly asked me to come with them because they planned on eating samgyupsal. As a teen who hasn’t had samgyupsal, it was a sure thing that I would join them. We almost didn’t make it in time because they still waited until my online classes ended.

On the seventh day of January, we decided to visit our grandfather at the cemetery, who passed away not so long ago, because it was his birthday. Before going home, grandma or lola asked us to stop by a local restaurant, "Sizzling sa Kubo," to eat.

I adore sisig, and have done so since I was a child. I ordered basically sisig, and everyone teased me, asking me why I wouldn’t order any dish aside from sisig.

How about you? What’s your favorite dish?

Why do you like that dish better than any other dish?

For me, sisig is best when it is freshly cooked and extremely spicy, to the point where you can separate the chili from the dish itself.

January is always a very fresh month to restart and change a few things about ourselves, thinking that maybe we can be better. Just like what Stewart Stafford says, “January is the calendar’s ingrown hair” meaning January is where everything may start.
