It's 50 years ago today that a youngster from Northern Ireland stepped out onto the Old Trafford pitch for the very first time. Here we present "BEST", our acclaimed biopic, telling his life story from his inspiring roots to his tragic downfall.
Troumaca/Music Video/Steven Spencer
This August saw us working with B-Town's very own Troumaca, on the video for their latest single "Layou".
We worked closely with the band to try to create a vision that reflected their tropical yet edgy image as well as the hypnotic, summery sounds of the record.
A mixture of green screen, macro photography, handmade masks and gunge made from pancake mixture, were used to create the overall look.
The video was shot in a day at The Custard Factory, Digbeth. The band spent most of the day slatthered in goo, wearing sarongs and masks made from seaweed and feathers. Curiously, they seemed rather at home with the look...
A huge thanks goes out to the crew:
Director - Steven Spencer Producer - Steven Spencer DOP - Craig Bush Art department - Anna Tonks & Hazel O'Brien VFX - Wayne McCauslin & Snna Rashid Editor - Andy Goodman Dance/Choreography - Hayley Frances Special thanks - Drew Roper (Yamination Studios), Sarah May Bishop & Ravi Deepres.
Check back for more photo's of the masks used in this video, coming soon.

Morcheeba/Music Video/Steven Spencer
Nicemonster studios are very proud to present Morcheeba's latest music video for their single "Gimme Your Love".
This was our first adventure into the craze of lyric videos. We hope you like it.

Steven Spencer/Good Night Lenin/Music Video
A quirky, yet touching puppet video for Birmingham based folk band Goodnight Lenin. Their single "Wenceslas Square" was released in the UK in 2012. Directed by Chris Keenan and Steven Spencer. The adorable puppets in the video were designed by Nicemonster and crafted by Tony Sinnett.
You can find details on Tony's exceptional puppetry here:

Steven Spencer/First Light Project
This was a cracking project to work on; teaching young people via instructional videos.
There were some amazing scripts by Steven Spencer and Ian Ravenscroft, along with some cracking 2D animation by Louis Hudson.
Music Video/Bremond/Shampoo
For French electro-jazz artist 'Bremond', we wanted to introduce him as a brand, concentrating more on the edit and coolness of the music, rather than creating fresh imagery.
Stay fresh.
Steven Spencer/Director/Nicemonster
Yesterday, I put together a compilation of my first three films. It's great to see the progression in the work. I have several new projects lined up and I'm excited to see how the work evolves. I'll keep you posted.
New screening date for BEST short film
Great news! Our short film BEST gets its first festival airing in July. Only problem is, its in Brasil so I doubt I can go. Looks like fun tho!

Steven Spencer/Promotional Support from council
Exciting news! My latest short film BEST has been approved support from the British Council.
Steven Spencer/Director/Momster
I've recently purchaced some fancy new frames from IKEA and wanted to do brand new posters for all the films that I've written.
Here's the poster for "Momster", commissioned by the UK Film Council, 2010.
The Momster character design harps back to when I wrote the initial pitch for ScreenWM, "the glowing white eyes and slightly translucent fur". I've also given the main actor Laurence Saunders a disgusting comb over for the poster. If only I'd have thought of this at the time, as it makes the father figure look even more disturbing.
Steven Spencer/BEST/Director/Nicemonster
I finally found the time to edit together a trailer for Nice Monster's short film entitled BEST. Unfortunately, I missed the digishorts screening of this tonight, which was being held over at the Lighthouse, Wolverhampton.
BEST is an innovative re-telling of the troubled life of football legend and style icon George Best.
From concept to completion, this film took around one year to get everything finalised, all done with the fantastic support of Screen West Midlands and a very talented and hard working production team.
Audience feedback has been exceptionally positive thus far, and it has recently been entered into a host of film festivals all over the world. So my fingers are firmly crossed for its continued success.
Nicemonster/BBC/Sky at Night
Nice Monster and Second Home Studios teamed up to animate and design the new HD title sequence for one of the BBC's longest running shows The Sky at Night. Hosted by legend Patrick Moore aka Games Master.

Keep your eyes pealed for the the screening tomorrow at 7:30 on BBC4 or in HD on BBC HD at 23:30.
Big shout out goes to the very talented Chris Randall and Benjamin Penrose for all their hard work.
