Motivation and Me
Here we go again. Yet another post on motivation. Everyone's got to have, like, twenty of these in their blogs by now, right? If this topic comes up so often, it's got to be something big, something that everyone wonders about, something that every struggles with, right? The problem is, as selfish as it sounds, I really couldn't give less of a shit about who else is struggling with it, how they deal with it, where theirs comes from. It really comes down to me.
We often get lost in the societal love for, well, society, and forsake ourselves. And this is reflected in when people try hard to talk about big problems, big issues, and how people are affected by them. But what gets lost in all of the people-politics is that the big picture shouldn't be, and isn't, good enough. It's the you-me, yourself, myself, one-to-one or just one and oneself thoughts about this. Rather, it's about knowing what you want, and how much you want it.
And of course, by you, I mean I. It's easy to de-personalize every thought by making it seem like it's less a dialogue and more a monologue, but we (there it is, using we instead of I) find it hard to put ourselves out there, to let the world know that this is how we're thinking. Maybe it's the fact the we are unsure of what it truly is that we're thinking. Maybe it's more that when we put into writing, onto text, what we're thinking, it's there forever. And though the way you may have felt about a subject at a certain time may have been undoubtedly true then, you may wake up and your mind may have found itself on a different road than it remembers going to sleep on. And by we and you, again I mean I.
We want to be ourselves, we want to be happy, we want to do what we want to do. But it's hard. You don't know if you're not yourself sometimes because you don't like who you are or because you don't know who you are; you don't know if you're unhappy because of your circumstances or because you choose to be; you don't know what it really is you want to do. You don't know what it is that you want.
I don't know what I want.
