I NEED a HOTD au where Jace dies and THEN goes back in time to the day of her aunt's funeral
Now with knowledge from his previous life, he does everything in his power to try to stop the war between the blacks & greens.
Where does he start? With his uncle Aemond of course.
First he apologieses for the prank with the pig, then he prevents Luke from taking Aemond's eye and all in all, he just tries to be kinder to the boy.
His goal is to try to have a civil and not openly hostile relationship with his uncle but he might get more than he bargained for.
Because Aemond is kind of like a dog. He craves approval, appreciation and respect. Jace will give him compliments, he will save him from Luke's blade and he will never ever underestimate him.
Aemond responds to all that with fierce loyalty. He is still mean, still has a lot of issues but now he has one person he thinks he can depend on. Aegon wont be a good ruler, its an objective truth so supporting Jace is the sensible choice, really.
He fights with his nephew a lot, but now its more tongue and cheek, rather than deep cutting remarks and heavy punches.
Jace is a very calculating person in this au. He tries to be clever, he focuses on politics, he even goes to King's Landing to try to make connections in court. He thinks of everyone as a potential threat, so while he is all smiles and politeness on the outside, on the inside he is full of mistrust and awareness 24/7.
He does not trust Aemond. Because when push comes to show, the older man would choose the green's side over his bastard nephew's and no amount of kind words would change that...right?
There is that incident tho...when an assassin tries to kill Jace, Aemond saves him but this action costs him his eye.
Jace spirals. Are things actually changing or fate is showing him that no matter what he does, their story will end up the same as in his previous life?
