Oz AU ⟶ After the gruesome murder of a city council member, police detain Carmen “Chico” Guerra, a local rival businessman who has also long been suspected of being a high-ranking member of the notorious gang El Norte. Detective Miguel Alvarez is brought in to assist with questioning because he and Chico have rapport; they were childhood best friends and foot soldiers in El Norte together before Miguel got on the straight and narrow. While it’s widely known that Chico hates his guts for turning blue all those years ago, that animosity isn’t the real reason Miguel is reluctant to get involved. The fact is, even though Chico was seen near the scene of the crime on the night it occurred, Miguel knows that it wasn’t Chico’s finger that pulled the trigger—it was his. editing to add in my past tags and say: Torquemada and Morales would definitely also be in this as Businessmen. Velez as a rookie cop or something, trying to Help (little does he know, Miguel's trying to throw him off his damn scent before he unearths his corruption, nosy kid!!). Beecher and Kareem should also play some kind of role in the political landscape. This just feels like a genre they'd be in 😂
(Post brought to my attention by @merelyafigment :3 Sorry for this nonsense)
(Started typing this in the tags of that post but then realised I shouldn't bombard OP with my brainrot to such an explicit degree so I'll throw it here)
[taps on mic] Of course, you could spin a beautiful character study/metaphor from this idea but allow me to also submit to you:

(Re: these tags)
Ok, it’s more like a headcanon I’ve yet to really explore in anything yet, which is just touchstarved!chico… a state he finds himself in despite and even made more severe by how many people he surrounds himself with, because a clap on the shoulder here and there is nothing, and besides, there are Rules to the duration of casual touches that leave a bigger hole than it could hope to fill!!
By contrast, Miguel pinning Chico up against the bunk in season 3 — the way Chico’s able to hold him and hold him and hold him (and be held, be clung to) after stabbing Miguel? Rewires his brain a little. Because of course Chico is not aware of what this unsettled feeling in him is. So like… he starts figuring he’s into the violence because surely that explains why the prolonged touch scorches—he’s averse to the danger, instincts screaming against it even if afterward, he misses the contact.
Basically, I think it would be interesting & there is potentially room to explore a Chico who misinterprets being touch-starved as variously: being into violence, being into executing violence, being into knives, whichever…
With additional confusion when he feels vague echoes of it during the brief hug in a McManus’s office, after trying to chase that thrill fighting Torres (unable to fully achieve more than the simple adrenaline because the exchange of blows happens too fast—always the issue with fisticuffs. Also he nearly gets his throat cut and it wasn’t even as scary-sexy as he was hoping. Mostly it was just scary. Wasn’t that worth it.)…
(Also holding Shupe down and cutting his arm off wasn’t that exciting either?) (Chico can’t quite figure out the right mix of things to feel that terrifying gratification again)
Also something something, Chico casually referencing his misinterpretation to Miguel once they’re friends again in terms of, like, “doesn’t it kind of turn you on when you’re in a fight? That’s normal, right?” and Miguel is like 🤨 “Ummm what? No?” Meanwhile Chico’s trying to argue some theory about endorphins and it all being the same. 🤔
Underrated background character, that one El Norte member with hair longer than his future, who we see has a whole nursery of kids when we see him in the visiting room.
JORGE!!! Yeah, he's kind of interesting. The only time we ever hear him talk is right before he dies :P
Details I have observed about him:
He's Puerto Rican (duh, big necklace)
He starts wearing boxing tape on his fingers and wrists sometimes in s4. Not sure if this is a fashion statement or what (he does wear really random stuff later on...)
He's often in the library reading, and we see him in the classrooms a couple of times
He seems fairly close with the homeboys as well, often seen in the background hanging out with Poet or Kenny or unnamed homeboys; he does not necessarily sit with the Latinos in the common area, although it seems more by choice rather than by exile like Miguel.
When Carlo Ricardo joins the Latinos, Jorge seems more distant (I guess the show didn't need him for anything lol) and still hangs out/around with Miguel even after he ditches Hernandez, Ricardo, and Guerra to get thrown in the Hole without him. After Ricardo is gone, Jorge returns as the "main" Latino extra lol, helping Morales kill the Chinese refugee in season 4, and then trying to kill Miguel, leading to his own death. (After he's gone, the fourth Latino becomes Jaime Velez, and after that Carlos Martinez)
Wiki says his inmate no is 92M220, which I guess means he arrived in Oz in '92, and died in 2001, 11 years later. Side note: I kind of find the fact that he died trying to kill Miguel sort of interesting, as prior to that moment, he didn't really seem to have much issue with him lol. He was Miguel's cellmate in earlier seasons.
Oz button spam sorry if the quality isn't the best its hard to take pics of buttons ;;
I made these at my local library ; )

Somethingsomething Outside AU where Chico loses a bet to Miguel and has to wear a collar. (Cooked up between them in a "like a dog, we're totally straight, dude, I am just humiliating you because that's somehow normal" way. Well, definitely for Miguel. Maybe Chico was secretly rolling the dice on possibly being able to collar Miguel because he Feels Things.)
And like, Miguel has to put it on him, right? It's part of the intricate humiliation rituals thing.
But somewhere in between Miguel's sure fingers running over the nervous flutter of Chico's throat, the tightening rub of leather against his skin, and their faces Right There... uh oh.
Toby would smoke disposable ecigs (smokeless) bc they're more courteous toward strangers and he thinks they make him look smarter
Ryan would vape with a box mod because sucking on a pen is gay
Alonzo would vape with a pen because they feel flute-like in nature
Chico would vape using pods because he likes the mechanism of changing the cartridge
and Miguel is chain smoking regular cigarettes because he doesn't know where his pods keep going

Today in "shirts Miguel supposedly owns and presumably wears":
Long sleeve mustard yellow flannel
2. Long sleeve navy
3. Royal blue with gray sleeve raglan
Like, come on. Whose laundry are you doing, Miguel?
Okay, I'm flinging this up before bed and will probably rethink hijacking OP's post with it. (Sorry! I can repost this separately if you'd like!) It's just 👆👆👆 his fault. Wanted to write something short before bed, and thought of this and how many are saying that looks like a Chico shirt. Though this ficlet takes place post-series. You know, after the bonding and trust exercises I always have them having gone through offscreen in Lardner for They're Friends Now backstory. (...the trust exercises probably involved harming other people to protect each other, but still.)

Miguel greeted him with a nod towards Chico's bunk, not really looking up from the whole lazy magazine reading, two legged chair balancing act he was doing. “Your shit's on the bed.”
Huh? Chico bounced up, craning to look before leaving the entryway. “Aww, you get me a housewarming gift, Miguel?”
Tits? Nah, Miguel was too cautious and clever, and all that up in his head shit for that. Looked like… clothes? Hey, can hide tits in clothes, sure.
Miguel's scoff was directed at his reading material. “This ain't a house.”
Thud of two chair legs to the ground, Miguel shifted to a forward hunch with widespread thighs, arms resting there with his magazine fluttering between. “Could get you a nice split lip as a welcome to the pod, how about that?” At least the whole pessimistic doom thing he'd intoned at Chico with at first fell away real quickly for that familiar sly tease. Then fluttering paper half-fell to hang from one hand when Miguel thoughtfully ran the back of the other over his jaw line, all smooth. All vaguely looking out the glass like he was pondering, not at Chico still. “Or a pretty bruise, yeah?”
That's what had him tilting his head over at Chico, cheeky as fuck, sarcastic grin shining wide, peering up from below his lashes like a damn–
Chico scoffed right the fuck back at him, waving off that ridiculous idea.
Was just fucking around. They didn't fight any more. Well, not for like, real. Had their disagreements, worked ‘em out. Hadn't shared their little plastic pod before now, but Chico had no doubt they'd be good. Had kept each other's asses alive in Lardner. (But they'd been bunked with other guys, overcrowding bullshit.)
Oh, it was clothes. His, stacked and folded, kind of easygoing and loosely leaning, but nice.
Feeling them up made the sloppy folds fall further apart, sleeve of his flannel coming out to wave at him – no drugs. No nothing.
Chico squinted over to where Miguel was refocused on his turning pages. “You washed my clothes?” Not like, all of them, just a couple shirts and a pair of pants. Hadn't rifled through Chico's underwear or anything. (Not that he would've given a fuck, really. Miguel wanted to root through his dirty drawers? Well, that was a Miguel issue, no skin off Chico.)
“Did mine.”
Oh, that tease was gone now for the short explanation, Miguel acting all disinterested.
Aw, self-conscious, doing nice shit for Chico, made him grumpy.
Sure, one same-ish shirt could've been a mistake. But they kept their dirty laundry separate, and that was too many mistakes, especially since Miguel didn't own a flannel that shade, despite how it would've gone fine with his still avoidant eyes and all.
Chico grinned at him, leaning back against the bunk until Miguel had to fucking look at him again, at some point.
Was trying real hard not to, at the moment.
“Thanks, man. I owe you anything?” Came out with his own shrug, easy. Clean laundry at his back, Chico gave the guy a break. Look, was a nice thing, okay? And for Miguel, not thinking only of his own ass and walling himself off again now that they were back in Em City, throwing in some of Chico's shirts was an especially nice thing.
Looked out for each other, see?
Miguel's gaze sliced his way real fast, but he shrugged back to his reading. “Nah, we're good. Just needed to throw some shit in to make a load.”
Chuckle escaped him as he shifted the fresh clothes, carrying into his muttering with a shake. “...needed to make a load, huh? Yeah, I know the feeling, right? That a skin mag there, hone–”
“Yo, man, shut up,” dismissed with exasperation, before Miguel eyeballed him again, shaking a finger at him, all half-assed from still holding his magazine. “Can still give you that split lip.”
Chico could see the light in his damn brown eyes, not all glowering, and knew he was hiding amusement behind his stubborn mouth, refusing to curve up (too far). Had Chico's laugh spilling out further, filling their pod.
Yeah, they were good these days.
