Amina and Sarah Said were physically, emotionally, and sexually abused by their father, Yaser Abdel Said, throughout their lives. The girls would often arrive at school with bruises and cuts and confessed to some of their friends that it was their fathers doing. On one occasion, Yaser flew Sarah to Egypt to try and set up an arranged marriage with a much older friend of his. She rejected the marriage, much to Yaser’s dismay. He would often spy on the girls and videotape them, even when Sarah was working in a local convenience store. He even punished her for smiling too much at customers. He didn’t allow the girls to have boyfriends but when Amina was 17 and Sarah was 18, they began to date behind his back. When he eventually found out, he terrified the girls by waving his gun around. They fled their home to Tulsa, Oklahoma, with their boyfriends and mother and got an apartment. They often revealed to their boyfriends that they were scared that Yaser would murder them and sadly, this revelation became true. Encouraged by their mother, the girls accepted Yaser’s invitation for lunch. He picked them up in his taxi where he then took them to a parking lot and shot them both dead. Sarah managed to call 911 and tell them that her father had shot them and that she was dying. She passed away while on the phone. Following the brutal murder of his own two daughters, Yaser withdrew all of the money from the family savings account and disappeared. He is still at large and remains on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List.
