At first I hated femininty. Not because I’m unfeminine, but because it always felt so rigid! All the channels I’d watch or posts I’d read would tell me to squash “habits” that are big parts of who I am or to fit a certain mold.
I’m naturally politically inclined, outspoken, firm, opinionated, and competitive as hell! I’m not a nurturer, in fact I’m still on the fence about motherhood...mostly leaning toward no. With that being said I felt like femininty had no place for a woman like me.
I was VERY wrong. I’m learning how to use all of those traits and marry them with my feminine aura that’s already in me to be the most badass sophisticated, seductive goal getter. So if you’re a headstrong girl like me you’ve got it in you and don’t be deterred from the journey!
This is very comforting. People make it seem like being outspoken or even radical is masculine and I don’t see how as a young black woman, in order to be feminine I have to appear like-able to the typical misogynist male gaze
