Hanging out in the clouds on a recent recce for my a new Bear Grylls series called 'Breaking Point'.Â
THE NEW COLD WAR - SIBERIAN CUT
My latest show, now in the edit for Raw TV. It's an 8 part doc for the Discovery channel, following a crew of Americans and Russians logging in Siberia's frozen north. It all takes place in Russia's Taiga forest, one of the most inhospitable places on the planet, covering an area the size of North America.
As American, Sean Vann, tries to get a logging business off the ground we get a glimpse of a rarely seen world, great action and classic cold war rivalry between two very different cultures.Â
Siberian Cut premiers on Discovery Channel in JuneÂ
SCALING MEXICO'S HIGHEST MOUNTAIN - PICO DE ORIZABA
A year ago today we got this motley crew up and onto the slopes of Mexico's highest Mountain, Pico de Orizaba for season 2 of Car vs Wild. The best crew in the business!Â
INSIDE THE WILDFIRE US SHOOT
I've left the Australian outback for the snow's of Montana, USA, to film at a laboratory that studies fire, for my BBC doc 'Inside the Wildfire'.
GOING INSIDE THE WILDFIRE FOR BBC2
I've been in Australia directing Simon Reeve and Kate Humble as they explore the science behind wildfires for BBC2.Â
In the picture above I'm over the outback, on route to a remote fire with an elite air and ground crew of NSW firefighters.Â
FREAKING OUT IN NEW YORK
New York shoot for 'Control Freaks' US special.Â
CONTROL FREAKS
I've finally got the opportunity to direct a new Discovery series in my old backyard - East London.Â
In the picture above, we're lighting a warehouse location in the Old Truman Brewery on Bricklane. It's a new show - working title is 'Control Freaks' hence the slightly menacing setting.
Our presenters, including Alex Conran from the 'Real Hustle' test out theories about human psychology on members of the public.Â
On air in late 2014.
SCALING A LAVA WALL IN THE SANORAN DESERT
A defining moment and fitting finale to my shoot for Car vs Wild. We literally winched all two tonnes of the jeep ‘Ruby’ up a vertical lava wall in the middle of Mexico’s Sonoran desert. Â
DESCENT INTO THE ABYSSÂ
One of my favourite behind the scenes pictures and a real highlight from my shoot in Mexico for Car Vs Wild.
Presenter Bill Wu is abseiling down the side of a waterfall into a pitch black subterranean bat cave. It’s documented by DOP Dan Etheridge, who was roped up and beside him all the way. Quite a stunt to pull off when you’re being pummelled by a raging torrent of water. I climbed into the cave ahead of the ascent and waited ankle deep in bat poo for the guys to touch down. We got an amazing sequence, topped off by a climb and swim out, through a soupy mix of swamp water and bat faeces. All in a day’s work.Â
CAR Vs WILD SEASON 2 PREMIERÂ

Shooting in a crash simulator for Dubai Ultimate Airport
In Dubai I filmed behind the scenes with a host of the airport's colourful characters, from the aircraft engineers to the customs officers and border police.
DUBAI ULTIMATE AIRPORT
Here's a promo for Dubai Ultimate Airport, a series I recently worked on.Â
Dubai Ultimate Airport shoot for National Geographic Channel
It's the end of my time in time Dubai filming a new 10 part documentary series for National Geographic - Dubai Ultimate Airport. You might think you've seen it all before but we had unprecedented access to a fascinating 'super' airport that will soon overtake London Heathrow as an international hub. I secretly I love a good airport - the smell of aviation fuel reminds me of setting off on adventures to far flung places. Hopefully watching this latest series might have the same effect! Look out for it on Nat Geo in 2013.Â
'Jungle Gold' airs in the States.
My latest show 'Jungle Gold' premiered on Discovery last week and was the second most watched show on all of cable. Makes all the sloshing around waist deep in a West African swamp worth it. Hope you get to watch - you couldn't script half of the stuff we caught on film.
One Car Too Far World Tour

Shooting ‘Jungle Gold’ for Discovery Channel in West Africa
My latest job has landed me in West Africa where I’m getting a crash course in making documentaries in a jungle. It’s a challenging place to work in.
The first thing you learn is that it’s impossible to stay dry. If I’m not waist deep in murky swamp water, humidity is up to about 85% so I'm soaked to the skin for most of the day. The weather can switch from scorching sunshine to a torrential downpour in minutes but waterproofs don’t help. After a couple of days I ditched mine – they protect you from the worst of the rain but you sweat so much inside, that you feel like a boil in the bag, microwave meal. My jungle boots, thankfully are made by a British company called Altberg and are designed to let the water drain out as you walk. So my feet are just wet rather than waterlogged which makes a big difference.
The locals insist there aren't crocs and hippos in this part of the river but it's still a little unnerving wading through an estuary with a camera on my head. A 6- foot snake tried to climb into our lead dug out the other day so there's definitely a few interesting creatures knocking around.
Despite the mud, sweat and inquisitive snakes, it's a truly amazing place to be and all the hard work behind the lens should translate to a gritty and exciting new Discovery series. I can’t give away any details yet but it should be a cracker.
