You can see that Footlocker uses black instead of white in the margins, which I think is a good design element. It makes all the colors of the products pop and really draws the visitor’s attention on the center of the page.

I like how the contact information is highly visible on the Stanley Steemer homepage. Stan knows what it takes to makes the big bucks steaming carpets: if you want customers, make it easy for them to find out how to get in touch with you. I know that gets me 1-800 Steamin!

Stanley Steemer’s site has a good use of blank space, keeping the visitor’s attention on the center. However, this heavy yellow is hard on the eyes and I feel it should be changed. I understand that it is the main color of the business, but it makes one have to squint upon entering the page.

Something bad about Autozone’s site is the presentation of the contact information. It’s barely seen as it almost blends in with the gray at the bottom of the page. If a customer wishes to contact the company it should be effortless for them to find the information necessary to do so. C’mon now, get in the zone yourselves Autozone.

As you can see, Autozone’s website uses a simple color scheme that keeps the site from looking too busy. There is also plenty of blank space which aids this as well. I like the diamond plated steel background too, which represents the theme of automotive machinery well.

As you can see, one missing letter in the search made a handful of results not appear. The site has an overly literal search engine which is unable to handle simple typos, which I believe is a fault in design and should be improved. This issue could be the difference between getting a sale or having the customer leave the site because they mistakenly found no results.

As you can see there is plenty of white space on this site, which is a design element that works really well. Items on the page have room to breathe, which makes the site attractive and also makes it easier to direct the attention of the visitor’s eye.
