Behind the Scenes of New Earth - Part Seventeen
Newspaper excerpt:
David confesses that being the new guy on set was difficult at times, saying: "The worst bit was all the hoo-ha that comes with the show - the fact everyone is so fascinated by it. "That makes it the most wonderful job in the world - and the most terrifying. When I finished my first day of filming, I remember going home and collapsing. Everything had been building up." David says he cannot tell if he has done well in the legendary role, adding: "I'll leave that to other people. "With the Doctor you're not obliged to take on a character that already exists, like James Bond or Tarzan. Part of the point of the whole regeneration idea is that you have a blank canvas and you have to bring yourself to it." Billie tells him: "You're more emotional. I like the way you play that stuff - you're good on your feet. You have good hips!" David laughs: "That's something else entirely!"

that pose
A genre of commentary I find extremely amusing is people watching old 90s/early 00s cartoons and debating about "plot holes."
Because listen. My sweet, summer children, continuity in cartoons did not used to exist. Things just happened in one episode and they were immediately erased after the credits roll.
Every single episode (except for Extra Special Two Part Episodes or sometimes THREE part) existed in its own, self contained Alternate Universe. Never to be mentioned again.
I feel like I have to specify that I'm being slightly hyperbolic, because yes, some cartoons did have continuity back then, but they were the exception not the norm. And if a show had continuity it gave it a much more "dramatic" vibe
And to be clear, I mean US cartoons, not anime.
In fact, I'd argue that most standard tv shows of the 80s and 90s were episodic. I remember being shocked when Gargoyles (cartoon) and Babylon 5 (sci fi live action) had continuous plots. It felt so special and groundbreaking to me as a young teen.
I mean, even Star Trek: the next generation had plots that were mostly episodic. Bitches were falling in love with alien trans people and having horror pregnancies and never speaking of it again. The closest you got was Q or Tasha Yar showing up again.

A dark, foreboding feeling overtakes you. You know this face, even in its absence.
i saw some comments on tiktok where people were talking bout how they found tumblr too hard to use and part of it being that there was no lack of dates so “what if you reblog or like something from five years ago?!”
buddy… we have posts circulating still from 2011, its literally just how it is
Being on tumblr for years like:

everyone is always acting like there is some crisis of human interaction with one another because everyone is overly sensitive to how strangers approach them and like. no actually its because nobody has any fucking manners. social etiquette has legitimately vanished. it makes interacting with strangers miserable because people don’t know how to fucking behave in public.
like it is rude to stare. it is rude to point. it is rude to have a loud phone conversation in a quiet place. it’s rude to listen to music or videos or whatever on your device with no headphones on a loud volume, or at any volume in an enclosed or quiet space. these are rude things to do. like i’m sorry while some etiquette is silly, an acceptable level of decorum is necessary to make existing in public bearable for everybody…….it is LITERALLY common courtesy
i rewatched "last christmas" this holiday and immediately wanted to draw them
