Human beings have for too long behaved recklessly with the earths resources without any thought of the consequences of such actions on the environment and the planet as a whole. With global warming being the main issue, Governments worldwide are finally acting on reducing our civilisation's carbon footprint. It's an issue some ignore and others laugh at as a conspiracy despite the scientific evidence, now we are seeing and feeling the changes before our very eyes. The world needs to wake up and act before it's too late. There is still time to reduce the carbon dioxide and other emissions and repair the damage we have already done but there comes a point when this won't be possible. Scientists call this the tipping point or the point of no return, but by then it may be too late....we need to act now!!

What a fantastic day yesterday. Was honoured to be invited to the studio of Marcus O'Mahoney, an esteemed ceramic artist and friend of Kieran and Elaine. Marcus and his wife Joan greeted us with smiles, home-made scones, coffee and tea. Marcus then brought us into his studio where he demonstrated his different clays, his shelves and shelves of fired and unfired pieces, wheel throwing a large pot building two separate pieces, then binding to create the final piece. We were shown some beautiful Japanese tea bowls (Chawan) Marcus made on one of his trips to Japan. We were shown his handbuilt wood-firing kiln and then went on to make our own tea bowls on the veranda. Since joining ceramics I've been feeling blessed and privileged to meet and work with beautiful, genuine, kind and sincere people who share friendship and the greatest gift you can ever give anybody and that's the gift of knowledge. LSAD has changed my life and shown me where I belong. There are no words to describe the gratitude I feel. I've found my "element" Mike Fox, I'm home.

Raku fired red clay with white clay slip. Turquoise crackle glaze. Parts of the surface remind me of the surface of one of Jupiter's moons. Would love to experiment with the different glazes and try to capture the different surfaces of rocks, on earth and within the solar system. Second love after art is science, especially textures and colours in geology and astronomy.

Paper clay Daphne. Unfortunately didn't think about how to remove wooden mannequin once the clay is dry. Thanks Kieran for pointing this out, have to rethink the process. Make a mould from something strong enough to hold the shape but will disintegrate in the kiln and not effect the other pieces?
