Today’s painting session. Still goofing around with the Yupo paper. Not sure what to think of the stuff just yet.Materials used: Uni-ball Si
Today's livestream. Still goofing around with the Yupo paper. I'm not sure if I like it or not. I'm mostly just trying to figure out how it works.
Painting starts around the 6 minute mark.
Today’s doodling session. Working out the kinks in a new studio set up. I finally have a dedicated art space again! I also tried working wit
Today's livestream. Working out the kinks in a new studio set up. I finally have a dedicated art space again! I also tried working with Yupo paper for the first time. Definite a love-hate material, but it has possibilities!
I recommend skipping to the 24 minute mark - that is when the more interesting paintings start.
Show is now open! See two of my paintings at (Un)Focused, an exhibit at Kansas City Artist Coalition in Kansas City, MO (USA). On show from May 15 - July 3, 2026. Venue website here. Installation photo courtesy of Madeline Marak (@madelinemarak on Insta) (play "spot my painting in the way back", haha!).

A throwback to my piece at the MFA Thesis Exhibition 2016 at Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum in St. Louis, MO. Feels like a lifetime ago..!

Repost in honor of my 10 year anniversary of surviving my MFA. That was a really tough period of my life, and I still have mixed feelings about it to this day. However, it really shaped the arc of my life (for better and for worse), so there is that.

Ryugan-ji Temple Tree, photo, no dimensions, 2024
Taking a break from art-making for a few days. Here's a photo from my trip to Tokyo last April. It was my first time in the city. I'd wanted to go to Japan since I was 10, and I finally made it at 32. It was only a three-day layover on the way back to the USA, but I had a grand time!
I had a day to myself that I spent walking continuously. Racked up 11 miles, visiting five temples (three shinto, two Buddhist). I tried to visit as many Shinto shrines as I could since I had never been in one before that day. I don't read Japanese, so I had a hard time telling the temple types from the outside. There were a couple of times where I'd walk in, see the Buddhas lined up near the door, and think "aw, we have this at home!" Still, every temple I went to was lovely, and Ryugan-ji Temple ended up being my favorite of the bunch.

The video that keeps on keepin' on! Almost to the two year anniversary on this video, and nearing 200k views. What a wild ride it has been!
Other Places I'm at on Tumblr
Here are the sideblogs I also run in addition to this one:
@landscapepeeper A random-catch all blog for my interests. Mostly sharing landscape paintings by other artists, with some fandom stuff occasionally.
@eternalsummersartorial A catch-all blog for fashion-specific interests.
@thecatwhoscrolledendlessly A fandom blog for The Cat Who book series by Lillian Jackson Braun.
@pizzasg A blog documenting my hunt for good pizza in Singapore. Rarely updated - which is a shame.
I also run the community page Landscape Artists of Tumblr. Check it out if you make landscape-themed art!

Resharing this sucker since it recently hit 120k views on Youtube. The fact that anyone watches my stuff (let alone +30k subscribers) is still wild to me.
