Yupo painting sketch of a photo of a field in my hometown that I took several winters ago. Painting was done on a recent Youtube livestream (here, at the 1 hr 26 min mark). Not too sure what I think of Yupo paper yet, but it does encourage me to be more loose and not-precious with my warmup sketches.

Q ; What is yupo paper ?

A type of hydrophobic paper with a smooth nonporous surface. It repels water making it difficult to control water based paint, however it allows for flowing abstract shapes to form naturally and easily with the natural flow of water across the surface of the paper.

Pigment also appears more vivid, as it dries and sits on top of the paper once water evaporates rather than absorbing into the paper.
