so much about creating is inherently an observation of the self. how you see the world, the opinions you’ve formed, the questions you have. lately these are all ideas in which, with a few key phrases and thoughtful input, you could chuck into a machine to regurgitate something that might resemble what you hope to create. perhaps even better than you hoped. maybe! but the labour is the point. your participation is the point. when you relinquish your creation to the 6-digit hands of a thieving machine, you remove yourself from the ideas you’ve presented to it, and taken even further: you remove yourself from your own evolution. if i’m being charitable, i find it sad. i actually find it embarrassingly pathetic. we as a species have made, in equal parts, masterpieces and absolute Bullshit with our own hands since our inception, processes of which carry us from the person Before Creation and After Creation—and you would give that up (at the cost of our habitat and livelihood and dignity) for a fleeting, empty shell of accomplishment. the spiritual equivalent of the guy in a group project that showed up to the presentation even though you ghosted the team for weeks. why the fuck are you even here? “i can’t even draw a stickman” ass. yes you fucking can, don’t piss me off. pick it up.

Love love love your sonic cowboy art. It’s gorgeous and I rarely blush to posts. But it really had an affect on me. And I looked through your blog some. And so I ask you. Do I for the first time ever, watch sonic 3 this day with no context to f the previous movies.

hi! first of all, what immense praise, thank you so much 😭💚 i'm honoured it could make you feel that way!! i like to think of the piece as a quiet moment post-victory, long after they should've parted ways, where it's still uncertain if Shadow will leave or not. but they both know he can't keep himself away for long anyway 😔

secondly, yes! i initially watched Sonic 3 without much context myself, generally all you need to know is that Sonic + Tails + Knuckles are adopted children of a human couple, and GUN is the task force specialised in extraterrestrials. i love the first 2 movies, but if you wanna just jump in at 3 you are very much able to! have fun!!

❤️ 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF MY SONIC 3 LOBOTOMY ❤️

picture this: it’s christmas eve, and you’re at your desk job. you’ve got 1.5 hours before you clock out when your best friend texts you to watch Sonic 3, premiering at midnight

“do i need to watch the first 2 movies to get it” you ask, because up until that point, this franchise had not laid its hands (paws?) on your life whatsoever.

little did you know, you’re about to receive the throttling of your life.

2025 had its challenges, but getting into Sonic enabled some of the biggest high points for me. i had the pleasure of meeting some of the most passionate and WILDLY cool fans, participated in fun events and collaborations—and most importantly, had some of the most fun making art in a LONG while.

at the center of it all, it means the world to me that one of the most important motherfuckers i hold close was the one to introduce this to me. slurped up that hedgehog yaoi koolaid and said damn brother this might be one for the books 🥵

what a phenomenal way to ring in my entry to my 30s. none of that inner child bullshit no no no lets not play coy SONIC IS FOR EVERYONE. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE 🫳🧿

one of the most fun years ive had for making art! despite the Challenges. or maybe it’s Because Of the challenges that it’s made creating a much more cathartic and defiantly becoming activity than it’s ever been. i cant believe i put out a fancomic zine this year bro this hedgehog shit serious

especially grateful to all the new people i’ve met this year, whether it’s through sonic, or the odd gig, or any other creative-adjacent context! you’ve made 2025 so tremendously rich for me, and i’m honoured that the things i made (or whatever nonsense came out of my mouth) played a part in our meeting.

everything i make is with equal parts manic affection and hubris-fueled stubbornness—if you’ve been here for the ride, i hope to see you in the road ahead 💚 KEEP GOING.

2025 GIFTED ME A GIRTHY THIRTY 😝 AHHHH

as 2025 wraps up, i wanted to recount the birthday party i threw for myself! i’d been thinking about a kids’ birthday party theme all year, especially for a milestone like turning another decade older. this was so much fun to put together—from the handmade piñata to the sloppy toppy cake sheet, to the decor and the invite posters and the party packs.

my birthday’s always been a bit of a sore spot for me, so the thought of making such a spectacle of it made me almost back out of this multiple times LMFAO ⚰️ but i’m glad i saw it through. thank you to my family and nova who were especially instrumental in helping me out with it, and abs for remotely beating my ass into doing something nice for myself 🤕

thank you to all the friends and loved ones who showed up and made this so lively and fun, and for making 30 feel wholly unserious and full of possibilities. i never thought i wouldve made it here.
