How long did each respective season of The Lion Guard take for y'all on the team to animate? I'm aware that animation takes a verrrry long time (which is why I'll always have MAD respect for people in the industry) so I'm very curious about the numbers of it all.

A lot of TV animation is a little more fast paced.

And depending on the style of animation some take longer than others to produce.

We had a timeline of two weeks to finish animating an episode. (That’s not counting every other stage in the pipeline like sound/effects/compositing etc) every week we’d get a new batch of scenes to animate.

I think the goal was somewhere between 800-1000 frames per week?🤔

So it took something like a little over a year to animate all of season 2.

To be honest two weeks never felt like enough. Not for the quality the artists really wanted to bring to the show.

I know this is just so sudden for you and I apologize for that. You don’t need to respond, but I just wanted to let you know that Lion Guard means a lot to me and you helped create something special for me that helped me during dark times in my childhood/early teen years and still does help me in my dark times

Not gonna lie it's kind of crazy to have someone say "thank you for working on this thing I loved when I was growing up" because I can't believe it's already been 9 years... My very first animation job. Felt like a full circle moment because TLK was my first ever animated movie. So the show holds a special place in my heart as well. I love to hear how these shows have impacted people. I'm glad Kion and the gang were able to help you through those difficult times and that it still brings you comfort. Hi! I was scrolling through The Lion Guard tag and saw a comment of yours from an old post. I went to your page to confirm what I assumed and it said animator.

As someone who was both a fan of The Lion Guard and grew up with it (I was in its target demographic: in my 10th year when it premiered and was 13 years old when it ended), I have to say I appreciate the hard work you and the rest of the team did to bring the series to life. I've been rewatching the series a lot on Disney + and I enjoy it just as much as 9 year old me did when it was first coming out.

So yeah, I just came here and went out of my way to say - Great job! Apologies if it's parasocial in any manner, but I have a lot of admiration for your hard work! Have a great day!

Another Dan video because he brings me joy.

You can’t see it but there’s a box under that platform, with 3 holes in it. And there’s a big peanut inside. Dan is struggling to get the peanut out from one of the holes.

And if you pay attention at 00:47, when he pops back out of the box, he rapidly taps his hands on the lid.

In mouse-speak this means he is incredibly displeased 😂

If you turn the volume up you can hear the vibrations of his hand through the shitty audio capture 😆

The saga of Ltd Dan has measurably improved my life for my stumbling upon it. It warms my shriveled heart. I adore all the videos of his becoming sleeker and fatter and happier and waddling around. Just imagining it from his POV is just something else: one day you’re freezing away in the snow on death’s door, and the next you’re whisked away by a giant, gentle hand to an abode of gentle caretaking and fluffy sheets and indoor mansions. How lovely that someone would do something like that for a little mouse! Thank you for sharing all of the posts about the little guy!!!

Since Dan was wild, does he ever bite? My friend has a mouse from a pet store but he always bites me :(

Never.

And maybe I’ve just been lucky but I’ve never been bit by any mouse I’ve “rescued” from my childhood home. I had this habit of just catching them by hand, it was just easier, but they never bit me.

Only been bit by tiny shrew I found in the basement. It felt like a tiny needle prick lol and a squirrel once but only because it thought the tip of my finger was a peanut.

Dan is so gentle. There are moments where he’ll grab my finger with both hands. And just when I think it looks like he might bite, but he just starts cleaning my finger 😂

(Generally, It’s not good to wash mice the way you’d wash other pets. No soap with water. Here I just used a damp sponge because he can’t groom himself as well as he used to. Some spots he can’t reach or he can’t hold himself up long enough. His fur was looking a little disheveled.)
