Alternian Blood/Caste Symbols

I’m slapping together a very quick guide on Alternian symbols by caste, with quick observations about what design elements come up in specific castes. This could be useful if you’re looking to create a fanmade symbol or adapt one that you already have so it fits!

Most of this will be under a cut to not clog your dashboard, but a few quick observations:

While we only know of 288 canon signs, it seems impossible that that’s representative of all possible signs, since we have seen that lowbloods in particular are MUCH more numerous and Vriska mentions that it is rare for a troll to share your sign (and if you do it’s because you’re related).

Hemoanonymity is seen as childish but effective. The other trolls could probably guess Karkat was a lowblood due to his lack of strength and psychic susceptibility, but they were unable to rule out possible blood colors by process of elimination. This indicates that trolls don’t necessarily know every sign in their caste.

In the fifth volume of Hiveswap Friendsim *BEGIN SPOILER WARNING* Polypa, an oliveblood, disguises herself as a goldblood with a fabricated symbol instead of her own *END SPOILER WARNING.* This is implied to be effective, meaning that trolls of a specific caste will accept a symbol if it matches with rules they already (subconsciously or otherwise) know to be part of their caste’s symbol rules.

I’m a chronically ill, disabled, trans man in a small, conservative town. I’m currently unemployed and broke because of my disabilities. In between having to travel to specialists and doctors, I have no money. I’m three months behind in bills and my power is going to be shut off if I can’t pay it. Everything I have goes towards my meds that I need to stay alive.

I have to travel five hours just to go to my appointments.. and plus I have to rent hotel rooms. It’s so expensive and exhausting. I’m too sick to work rn and broke because I’m sick. This is a monthly routine. I don’t even have enough money for all of my meds and to eat, let alone rent.

I have to travel five hours away this weekend to get more blood tests done (I have a rare blood clotting disease) and I have different appointments all throughout the weekend so I have to get a hotel room. So here's the deal, on one hand, people are actually being real fuckin assholes and bigots and shit, and that aint cool but i aint about to explain how theyre in the shit

Theres also the other end of the spectrum. Theres the people who will only latch onto the fact that he's trans. There are people who think he is only for the trans community and no one else

He is not just for you, that hot son of a bitch is for everyone. For he is a game character, and one anyone could be able to identify with, trans or not. While we're on that subject, him being trans is not the only thing about him, please stop treating it like it is. Half to three fourths of the reactions ive seen so far have only been about that fact and nothing else. He has a personality, he's a prettyboy vampire with a god complex trying to become immortal. That's pretty damn interesting, and before he was confirmed, he was the first male jade blood, which was awesome in itself.
