"...I think I get that. Missing him." Minori didn't know Fendi at all, but for all the issues and butting heads with Al they'd been through, Minori couldn't find it in themself to say they wouldn't miss Al, either.

As selfish as it probably was to focus on that. But for them, Johnny wasn't in their head. They could miss Johnny all they want, it wasn't anything similar to how V likely was. So, comparing to if they'd lost Al it was.

They sigh, after a moment, glancing away. "...I don't have any suggestions that are worthwhile to pursue, no."

Maybe Alt was lying. A deluded hope, perhaps, but a possibility.

"Don't worry, I'm not expecting you to come up with some miracle cure or anything like that." V reassured Minori as she just gave him a pat on the shoulder and then coughed. She was still coughing up blood but not to the extent that she had been thanks to the time that she was given.

"Technically, I'm not completely screwed. The likelyhood of this working is basically slim to none but..." She wiped the little bit of blood from her lips. "Panam, the now leader of the aldecaldos that I'll be going with, says she knows someone in arizona that could reset the chip to a neutral state."

Would that work? Probably not but... "If it somehow works, and I'm not holding my breath here, it would essentially trick the chip to act like it was before I got shot in the head. I'd probably still deal with the effects of it being damaged but...I wouldn't be actively dying anymore. But it won't work, I already know that."

Dismissing it off hand wasn't great but well, it was something, technically. "But hey! I'll come back and pay a visit and maybe even stay a while if that happens! So hope and pray for a miracle here!" She tried to be a little more optimistic now. "Anyways, my biggest regret is not getting you back to your world somehow. But then again, I wouldn't even know where to start with that.

Go 88 mph in a nuclear powered car? No, that's time travel. I don't know. I'm just an ex merc who managed to kill the boogey man of Night City until he gets brought back. By the way have I mentioned that? I killed Adam Smasher. With prejudice."

...Ok. Some months. Although they can't really imagine how slowly losing control forever will feel or be like. "...Is Johnny still there? It doesn't sound like it." But Minori wanted to make sure.

"No, he's not actually. When we talked with Alt in Mikoshi, there was a choice. Either I go deeper in there with Alt and hope to find a body replacement one of these days, or Johnny stays to be with Alt. Ultimately Johnny decided to stay to be with her." She sighed softly at that. "I get it, but I also miss him now. A lot honestly. It's not the same without him."

"Well, if I'm going to die no matter what, I might as well enjoy the last remaining time I have as me, right?"

"So much for that idea. I really am well and truly screwed." V had ultimately discovered that Alt had no plans on actually helping her or even could help her. She had been through all these hoops, sacrificed someone to Adam Smasher all for the express purpose of just getting...nothing. Other than a few more months of her life as her body fought her out of herself.

As she was preparing for what to do next, she looked at Night City and had a realization. There really was just nothing left for her. Night City was for people who had something to lose. Something to hold onto. V didn't have any of that. She thought of her roommate, but they would be fine for the next year or so. After that well...

It was up to them.

Probably a good idea to tell them what was going on but at the same time well...the time would come when she would figure that out. For now, she was talking to Panam and the consensus was that she, along with Judy was going to take a trip. Somewhere. Anywhere. It didn't matter where.

Maybe there was something outside of Night City. Maybe there was a way to transfer her consciousness to something else. Maybe maybe maybe.

But the reality was that she was probably on the last months of her life.

Night City no longer felt like a place she had anything for anymore. The merc was basically no more. She would be the one who killed Adam Smasher, at least for now until they inevitably brought him back. So everything really was all for nothing. That was night city in a nutshell basically.

Oh well.

Time to move on.

To Al/Minori: "If you're reading this, then I have started my final solution to the relic killing me. I don't know what's going to happen, I may just end up dying in the process. Regardless I know what I must do and are working on it. I haven't decided what my plan is as of writing this holonote but I'm sure I figured it out. If not then well...rip me.

You will most likely find that rent has been paid off for the next 8-12 months. I've saved up my eddies for that and paid it all off remotely. That's just in case that I don't make it. Which honestly is probably the case. If I do make it well...we can just go back to normal or something. I hope that's the case.

I want to celebrate by getting wasted off of snyth sake and enjoying myself with you and Judy.

We all know that's not going to happen though.

I always knew that this was how things were going to end. Honestly, I've been on borrowed time since that gunshot. I died then, and that old me died. So whatever happens, I could never be the same. I appreciate everything that you've done for me. And apologizes for being such a massive pain in the ass the entire time. All the break downs, the times I got stupidly drunk, the disassociation, etc etc.

The TV is getting fixed soon by the way.

I'm reminded of the song Never Fade away, especially these lyrics.

"There's a canvas with two faces

But in the end guess we paid the cost"

I'm rambling at this point honestly. There's not much else I can say because I don't know the outcome of my decision. But that's life for you. Trying to decide the future is pointless, looking back at the past doesn't do anything, and the present is too chaotic to figure out. Let's hope for the best and assume the worst."

"Oh you know, corporations deciding they want to change how things work and making things worse in the process. Typical mega corporation crap."

"What's that? Night City is getting worse? Must be a day ending in y."

It was the beginning of the end. V had just talked to Hanako and told her that she would come to a decision about things soon. Within the next 24 hours. But as she was leaving Embers she had a massive relic attack and de-personalization attack. Johnny tried to take over to keep her body from destroying itself but V stubbornly kept control over her body.

She would find herself in Viktor's place.

One more attack.

That's all she could handle. Any more and she would die. V didn't have anymore time to deal with this.

Viktor gave her one last set of pills, and Misty showed her to the roof where she would sit in a chair and had a long, long bit of thought. She didn't have time to do anything else anymore. Her body was about to spit her out and kill itself in the process. How was she going to resolve this once and for all?

It was time to choose.

Once they let go and took the water, they figured to look around first before asking what she fired- oh. Oh, there. There goes the tv. Ok.

They're just going to. Drink the water. While Al started laughing, almost manically. Minori...couldn't exactly blame him. Had they been paying attention to emotions beyond the minimum, they'd probably have picked up on the huge amounts of anger and rage that wasn't their own. To say nothing of other emotions that'd have been harder to unwrap from each other.

That, plus the dwindling phantom pains and rude awakening hadn't helped, either. Minori was more surprised Al held it together for this long, actually.

Perks of being the one in control whether they wanted to be or not, Minori supposed.

"I...figured it was a possibility," they mumbled after moment. "Although I don't know if that's better or worse..."

While they went to get their pain reliever and try to ignore the growing headache, Minori sighed. Debating for a moment if they should follow her reassurance or not. That, and Al's understandable anger, and then that relic attack in general... All while they wanted to go back to sleep and weren't sure if they were up for now?

It was all too much.

"Ok. That's good. Not that I don't want to hear, but you did wake us up." They took a moment to take the pill before they continued. "So I'm a bit out of it, and Alfendi...

"He won't listen, either." Vaguely, they gestured at the TV. Al might've stopped laughing by now, but Minori could tell he was seething and waiting for the chance to take control. If he could was a different story-

"....Right." When she turned around she saw the bullet hole in the TV. She had done that, huh? Woops. It wasn't like she had meant to or anything, obviously. But she had indeed put a hole in the tv that provided some amount of entertainment. That was her bad. But she genuinely didn't remember that because of the whole...

Disassociation thing.

It was such a weird thought, that she would be in control of her body but not remember a thing because she had lost her sense of who she was. V had let Johnny take over her body, and that was a different sensation altogether. It was like taking a back seat in one's own car and feeling it go down the road being driven by someone else.

This was like not even knowing that the car was being driven and having the realization that she was the one in control of the vehicle the entire time. She was going to have to get a new tv. Well, if she was going to last long enough for the delivery to arrive and for it to matter to her anyways.

"Like I said, I have a good idea on what I want to do. I'm going with a choice that I think is going to yield me with the best chance at living. The fact of the matter is that right now, I'm going to have to do some drastic actions. I think going to Mikoshi, unless the dog town thing has some fruition to it."

Which given that it was just going to the edge of it and seeing what was going to happen? Probably nothing.

"I don't know what will happen when we go into Mikoshi and see Alt. The best case scenario is that she has a way to deal with the relic. If that doesn't work out then I'm probably just screwed. I can only go with one plan and if that one plan doesn't work I just don't have the time to figure out another plan. I'm disassociating now. Who knows if I keep control of my body for much longer."

Take a deep breath V.

Calm down, don't let your emotions get to you again. You already had that crashout, you can't be adding to the amount of crashouts that you've had, not with your life getting closer and close to the end. She took in a deep breath through her mouth, holding it for a couple of seconds before exhaling.

And then she went over to Minori and put a hand on their shoulder. "I'm sorry, alright? I know you're just trying to help." She stated giving a reassuring nod to Minori. "Dogtown is definitely a path I could look down. If you don't find anything there I might go there myself just to get a second opinion. But be careful, I hear it's very dangerous there.

She was feeling a little better now, having successfully calmed herself down. But she was still in quite the perilous situation, and she was finding herself needing to really lock down and focus on things. If not she was just going to find herself in quite the bind. And probably dead.

"Anyways..."

Walking back to the nearest chair she took a seat. "I think we're good for this conversation. I'm going to look into everything that I can. And hopefully I'll be safe to go back to my apartment soon. They shouldn't be looking for me much longer at this rate. At the very least, I hope not anyways. Just know this.

Despite everything, I appreciate you being around. You all are a good choom.

Don't forget that."

When she placed her hand on their shoulder, Minori glanced up at her. It was nice, having a bit more than just their own fiddling. Helped them calm down a little. Though a part of themself found it a bit ridiculous that she was apologizing to them, Minori found they didn't wish to correct her on it, either.

"Of course. I'd expect nothing less. And I will."

Minori watched her go back to the chair and waited for her to finish. …Ha. They glanced back at the object, idly messing with it again. Calmer, sure. Still. I'm not sure how you can say that. That all of them were. She didn't really know Al, and Fendi… Minori could tell Fendi wasn't around only because of the lack of polite actions. It was really only themself, and. Well.

They clearly struggled to believe that. Truly.

How funny. Minori could be a confident Reaper, loyal friend, not question their role. But when it came to being a confident friend - let alone confident in their own ability to help her - that was what fell by the wayside. It was kind of annoying, this damn insecurity.

"I hope not, too." And a bit of a softer expression, now. "…Thank you. I…I won't."

"Good. Because if you do forget I have bullets with your name on it." She told him simply as she prepared to finish things up here. She was going to go back to the apartment once she knew that Arasaka wasn't going to be actively hunting her down and that was that. She was going to continue looking for ways to save her own life.

At any cost.

There was this weird feeling that everything was going to be...fine. It wasn't going to be alright but things were going to be fine for now. The parade was done, the remnants of that were fading away. It was just another weird and strange chapter to the history of Night City that had a bunch of weird and interesting chapters.

She checked on the time and then came up with an idea.

"Well, I'm heading out. I'm just going to drive my motorcycle around the badlands for a bit. Get a bit of that nice air in my lungs. Make me feel alive again. It'll feel nice to not have to think and just listen to these crappy radio stations that play the same music over and over again.

Stepping outside the crappy motel she went to her motorcycle and listened as it purred to life. She didn't bother putting on a helmet. If she crashed then she deserved to crash. She went forth and rode through the dirt roads of the badlands, taking in the sights and smells. Everything was going to be fine...

It had to.

V is still in hiding, preparing, scheming. Who knows when she'll come out of hiding.

V is not ready for this yet and skedaddles at least 1 square mile away from that area.

Is how Rebecca would react but...

Someone please reinflate her she's been squished due to him for over a year.

Lucy is having PTSD flashbacks and Judy is looking for V who is currently hiding somewhere

Ok. That was good. They take their own breaths in and out, calming down.

Bleeding...? Oh, right, the malfunctions.

...Minori wasn't sure if they felt better or worse knowing this attack made her lose her sense of reality for. ...Fuck, however long it might've been. They'd been asleep, this episode could've just started or it could've gone on for way too long.

Thankfully it didn't end in-

"Good to hear," they said after her 'more real' comment. "Let me know when to let go, alright?"

Thankfully for Minori, the disassociation attack hadn't lasted too long. She had been just relaxing on the couch contemplating a few things and working towards finally making a decision on what to do when she started to feel weird and off. Something was clearly going on but she didn't know what or why. It was different than normal after all.

And that's when she started to not feel real.

Her breathing was coming down to normal and the life was starting to return to her eyes. She was still feeling that disassociation and a bit more blood was rolling down her cheek, but she was going to recover. Maybe she should stay with Judy or something, she wasn't really sure. Her mind was just now returning back to normal.

"You can let me go now, I really appreciate it." She sounded more like her normal self as they let go and she rushed to the bathroom to cough up the blood in the sink and proceeded to get some water from the vending machine. She didn't want nicola this time. Just water.

And she figured that Minori would want one as well, and after paying the eddies for it two bottles of as fresh water as you could get in Night City came out. And she immediately drank most of hers. "Fuck choom, I didn't even know that could happen. Guess I have yet another thing to have to deal with in terms of the relic...

Don't worry, I think I'm close to deciding what to do about the relic once and for all."
