A letter arrives from @fanfulmultiverse ( ft; Alfendi Layton ) ↳ "You really think sorry fixes this?"

Holds fold neatly in front of the older gentleman. Gently the tea he had returned to its saucer gives off the bit of steam as he looks upon the other before him. Eleven years was a long time to be gone for. A miscalculation on his part of course but nonetheless it was something he wasn't going to be able to avoid for much longer.

❝ Dear boy I do not know what other words I would be able to express for things I cannot undue. You and I know better than all else that time cannot be unwound. What happened has happened and there is nothing else I can do on the matter. ❞ He knew all too well the meaning and hurt behind the very words he spoke. Experiencing them time and time again. Now his children having to learn that hard experience. One he had never intended to inflict on either of them.

Was it foolish of him all those years ago for leaving yes. He would fault that. But he hadn't expected all of it. He knew he couldn't fix what had been broken but he could try to mend the now. Today.

❝ What else do you want me to say dear boy ... there would be no other words that would soothe the hurt I have caused you. To your sister ... ❞

Judy took a puff of her cigarette from her van that was currently parked in Megabuilding H10. Ever since she found V passed out in afterlife because she had drank herself into a coma, she had been thinking heavily about things. About V, her relationship with her, her roommate. She clearly cared for them a lot, and she doubted that she was going to drink herself into a coma over her body. Or maybe she would.

It had to be because of that roommate from not around here.

God, what had been said, what wasn't said, all of that was just rummaging through her head. V was going through a lot, there was no doubt about that, and was probably stressed out as all heck. She saw the stress in her eyes the last time that they met up. So it must've been bad if it made her want to drown things out in alcohol.

She was going to have a big chat to her about that.

Regardless, she got out of her van and casually tossed the cigarette aside and walked to the elevator, and made her way to V's apartment, seeing that she had permission to come in. That wasn't unexpected. V had told her that she was allowed to come in whenever she wanted for whatever reason. And V wasn't going to tell her no in this case.

Walking in, things seemed to be fine. At least there was no major fight or anything. But then she saw them laying in V's bed. Interesting. She knew that there was the air bed that V got for them but the fact that they were laying in V's bed added to the intrigue of mystery of this whole thing. She walked up and coughed to get their attention. "Hey sleepy head. We have to talk. Need to know what the hell happened between you and V.

And I'm not leaving until I know. I fucking found her half dead because she drank herself so hard. So what happened. And do I have to kick your ass or not."

He does not know how he left Krat.

Sophia was the one with the curious powers, and while he might've suspected those were he still possessed of her Ergo, he'd put that into a puppet of its own - meaning any chance he had of getting similar abilities for himself, was very much not possible.

It's a nice place, though, he tells himself, standing still on the street he'd woken up on - emerging from the Ergo cocoon Sophia's Stopwatch seemed to put him in any time a feral puppet or carcass monster got a lucky win in over him.

Pinocchio runs his good hand through his hair (still grey-blue like Sophias). The motion isn't needed, but it helps him to think, grounds him, reminds him that he is himself, and not a puppet-weapon made to collect Ergo for somebody else. It is a human gesture, after all.

That done, he makes contact with the Ergo stone hanging off his hip, right next to the mechanical lantern that is Gemini. The stone itself looked like a paper lantern without any paper on it - a series of stone-grey ribs, and an internal core of luminescent blue 'stone'. Still there. Good.

Gemini was there. The Ergo stone (special, unique, this one was not for sale, no matter how fancy the object offered in return) was also there. His weapon - a spear fashioned from a half-broken signpost and a particularly deadly dagger blade - was there as well, hanging off his back in the awkward, though sturdy, holster that had been made for it.

His 'prosthetic' was there too. Also good. It convulsed gently at his side, which was annoying, but normal. He was at optimal health and function. No parts missing.

Good.

...He could feel no Ergo here, though. No buzz in the air from soulstuff floating around or settling into the stones around him. Only what he had inside him, and the sole Ergo crystal at his hip (clinking gently against Gemini's lantern, which settled his nerves to hear).

"This. Is not home." He says - mostly to himself, making it solid, and real. He is not home. This is not Krat.

He does not know where he is.

There are no enemies around - only normal looking people. He probably won't get another chance like this again.

So he begins to move.

Time to explore.

"That's right, and it only really works when your birthday is in October or December, on account of Christmas. It's like...having two birthdays, so in order to avoid the hassle you just count the whole month."

"Fine?! You think I'm doing fine?!" Hestia snaps. She was far from that. Physically and mentally. She understands that Emet-Selch is doing is best and can't always be around her. Especially with all the work that goes into the rejoinings. She was lonely. She was physically incapable of doing many ventures on her own.

She could still technically walk. But it wasn't much. What she'd give to be running around all the shards, exploring and learning the new things that came out of such a horrible situation. But no. She was stuck here.

"I have not been okay. I want out of this chair. I want to be able to regenerate my aether again. I know I should be waiting for the shards to live their lives and die off, but I want to feel better." She had never admitted this selfish desire. She figured it'd be best if she kept her mouth shut and didn't complain. There was also one thing she wanted back as well, Hythlodaeus. But overall, she felt she didn't deserve to speak about her woes when she was partly responsible for her condition. It was she who expelled all that aether to save her familiar. It might've been losing that much of her soul would've ended her in the same position.

"I thought having to deal with the voice in my head was bad enough as is, but having two others and not even knowing who the actual original one is? Sounds like the actual definition of hell. And I'm helping them not die almost immediately out there. My life is never dull..."
