It is a shock to the teen that he unintentionally cut the female in line. Crown turns towards the other ❝ I had no idea i did, but believe me when I say i didn’t mean too. ❞

     Blake eyes the boy in front of her -- once, twice -- then notices that he’s up next to give his order. Even if he’s lying, there’s no point in causing a scene now.

     “It’s fine,” she sighs. “Just don’t make a habit out of it.”

with her attentionstill fully on her partner, yang takes a few steps towards ruby’s bed before placing zwei up there. she makes sure he lays down, petting him just a bit more until she’s sure he won’t try to move. then, she returns her previous position with her hip on blake’s chair &&. now with a hand on the back. lavender eyes briefly scan over the assignment that ❪ supposedly ❫ was supposed to ring a few bells to the blonde, but alas, none could be heard. 

lips purse asshe thinks on it, barely remembering being assigned an essay, though she didn’t doubt they had one. sucking in a deep breath, she lets it all out in a drawn out sigh as her posture straightens &&. her free hand finds itself comfortable resting on her hip. somehow, among a small nervous feeling building up within her gut, she musters a small laugh.

         ❛ right !! right … theessay … for port’s class. yeah, uh, due tomorrow !! i know                                                     that ——— course i know that …                          but, uhm, d’you think you could run this assignment by me again ?                                                  just need, like, a lil’ refresher is all !! ❜ 

     upon yang’s return to her side, blake has a feeling that her teammate forgot all about their assignment. however, this is something that’s not necessarily out of character for her partner. with every major essay they’re given in their classes, blake prepares for the possibility that yang will save it for the last minute, such as in this instance. 

     in the blink of an eye, the textbook propped open on her desk is shut and hoisted above her head for yang to take. should she want to work on her essay, blake is willing to share her own resources in order to help her friend finish in a timely manner.

     “we were supposed to write about the strengths and weaknesses of five different types of grimm -- three pages minimum, six maximum. i’ve already bookmarked the five i’m writing about, so you’re more than welcome to write your paper on those. it’ll probably be easier that way.”

     “I don’t think I’ve introduced myself yet. I’m Blake -- I’m teammates with your daughters, Yang and Ruby?”

     “Is there a reason why you just decided to cut me in line? Believe it or not, the rest of us need something to drink just as badly as you do.”

     So she seems to be doing well… That’s good.

     It’s a shame she doesn’t know what’s coming.

     ❝ Oh… ❞ He says casually with a flip of the wrist. It’s best not to alarm her, especially when he still wants to exchange a few words with her.  ❝ Nothing really… Just wanting to see how you were doing… ❞ 

     He gradually edges back into the shadows, partly to conceal himself, and partly because he wanted to see if she would dare and follower. Perhaps she wouldn’t, perhaps she would. It was mere curiosity. Tonight he wasn’t going to start anything. No… Not yet. He had to wait just a bit more before all that happened. For now, he just wanted to have a few words with her.

     ❝ You’ve been gone… Quite awhile you know. ❞ He can’t help but taunt her, if a bit gently at the moment. The real fun will come later.   ❝ I’ve been…. worried about you.❞

     blake finds it hard to believe that after all this time, he’s only now taking interest in how she’s been faring on her own. surely he has to be up to something -- must have some sort of ulterior motive -- but she can’t quite figure out what his angle is just yet. that’s what really worries her, not knowing the true reason behind his visit.

     perhaps, with enough prodding, she might coax a few hints out of him. 

     “i’ve been doing fine,” she replies, cautiously taking a step forward when he slinks back into the shadows. she’s not close enough for him to suddenly ambush him, but close enough to still have him in her sights. one hand hovers by her side, ready to unsheathe her weapon, while the other grips her scroll in an iron-like vice. 

     “can you say the same?” now it’s her turn to taunt, but she chooses her words carefully. if she oversteps any line, adam may try to attack or simply flee altogether. “i know you’re working with humans -- ones who don’t care about the white fang in the long run. that can’t make you happy.”

a pout takes over her visage, but she says nothing for a few moments. her lips are held together tightly while lilac eyes are searching her partners face before she eventually bends down to pick up the small corgi &&. hold him in her arms. 

          ❛ he doesn’t meanany harm, blake !! he just wants to play is all … ❜

one arm iswrapped around the dogs body in the front, her hand coming to rest upon his head &&. pet him lightly. her hip leans against the back of the chair blake sat in, her attention now turning to the schoolwork she had on the desk.

          ❛ what’re you doin’ anyways ? ❜

     blake is far more amicable once zwei is plucked off the ground and held in yang’s arms, even if he’s still able to pant and yip right by her head. it’s far better to have him unable to nip at her heels or drool all over her while she finishes up her work.

     “now isn’t the time to play,” she replies, shrugging indifferently in regards to zwei’s need for attention. “besides, i’d rather not smell like wet dog for the rest of the day.”

     a smile spreads across her lips at her latter comment, indicating she’s not in a poor mood after all. when it came to her partner, she was usually in a fairly decent mood and willing to keep up friendly chatter, even if it involved her dry sense of humor. 

     “and i’m working on a last-minute essay for professor port’s class,” she adds a an afterthought. “you know it’s due tomorrow, right?”

     he honestly should be seeing blake more often for her help in      class. not only is she a total bombshell but the basketball star      wasn’t what you’d call book smart, and if he didn’t keep his      head above water he could kiss his scholarship goodbye. it was      just difficult to find the time between all his own personal      responsibilities. there’s not a moment in the day he feels like he      has to himself, but he likes it like that. keeping busy was always      good.

     the next test is worth too much for sun to tank, however, so he      decides to double up and just bring blake with him on his after-school      obligations. hopefully, she doesn’t mind kids. 

     he filters between a sea of ankle-biters, all shouting for the ‘coach’s’      attention as thy practice free-throws. of course, they barely make it to      the rim, but he encourages them to keep trying. he pulls off only when      blake calls, and you can hear the echo of bouncing balls in the      background as he answers, “hey blake! yea, just gimme a sec i’ll be      right out.” and then he’s hanging up the phone, moving out of the gym      and to thee front lobby. when he emerges to greet her, he’s wearing a      grin and a ‘volunteers’ shirt, bright yellow so the kids can see him better. 

     “hey! we’re just in the middle of free play but the kids got naps      before pick-up, we should be able to get started soon. s’that ok?”

     blake tries to keep a straight face when sun trots out in a bright yellow jersey -- honestly, she really does -- but the smirk tugging at the corner of her lips makes itself known. it’s not that she finds his volunteer work humorous, it just so happens that his volunteer work involves him wearing a hideous yellow shirt.

     “as long as you don’t blind me with your jersey,” she chuckles, “i think i’ll be fine.”

     although she’s poking fun at his attire, she can’t help but admire him for his choice in hobbies. it’s rather charming to discover that the star athlete of beacon university spends his free time coaching kids at a youth center. while other young people their age are off getting drunk or high, sun’s actually doing something good for the community. blake respects that, especially since she also happens to have a few similar hobbies of her own.

     “maybe you can show me around this place once we’re done studying,” she suggests.
