Nigh had heard of the name Nightlight, from many stories and legends that were told by her companions. Just the look of Nightlight’s curiosity made Nigh know this boy had not heard of her in return. “When you look up in the sky, and for a moment you decide to look past all the stars and light, you will see darkness. That’s me. Every night, I have to send darkness across the sky, so the beauty of the stars can shine through."
Darkness. He never particularly liked the word and associated it with something he had to fight to keep all the beloved children safe. Yet he often forgot to realize that his favorite time to fly involved darkness: the night. It was the time he could see the moon, the stars, the moon beams who always gave him company on his many days of travel. Without that darkness he wouldn't be able to see any of that. It would mean losing his only connection to a world he had forgotten. The boy's eyes flashed in bright emerald hue as he looked over at Nigh.
"Oh really? How neat!" His gaze traveled up to look at the sky now. It's vast expansion that seemed to go on forever created a whole new feeling. "How exactly do you manage to cover all of that?" There was a strain in his eyebrows as he tried to comprehend the amount of work it must take to do that, not to mention repeating it every time the sun falls.
"Hey there," Nigh said to the stranger with a smile. “I’m the Night. Just call me Nigh for your convenience."
The spectral boy stared at the other in curiosity as silence over came him. Nightlight knew there was something peculiar about this stranger, but he just couldn't pin point it. That made him all the more interested. Finally, after a few moments of speculation, a smile came upon his glimmering cheeks. Then, he flicked his wrist back and forth in a wave. "Nice to meet you Nigh." The similarities in their names caused his grin to grow bigger. "I'm Nightlight."
There was a few seconds pause. "What do you mean you are the night?" Surely the girl didn't mean she was literally the night, right? Or maybe the boy just wasn't paying as close attention to things as he would hope.
[ fdjk, I almost had a heartattack because the lights went off for a few seconds while I was working on a Nightlight drawing I hadn't saved in an hour but luckily it came back on with nothing changed ]

Nightlight groaned at the bursts coming from his abdomen. They stung a bit, but also felt… good. He felt the darkling poison begin to be drawn out. He took a deep breath as the healing light of the staff began giving him new found strength. The spectral boy sat up to fully face his savior. He still felt very light headed from all of the blood loss.
The boy looked his twin in the eyes. His mind was racing. ‘Should I thank him…?’ ‘Who is he?’ ‘Why does he look… just like me’. Nightlight stuttered with a mangle of words. His breath was still raspy but he managed to form them into a sentence. “T-thank you.."
A smile formed on his face when the other finally uttered words. His body relaxed in relief and he let the spear drop down to his side. Good, it worked, er, for the most part. Nightlight leaned back to give his twin some space while also nodding in response to his thanks. Then, he raised his free hand, the fingers wiggling in greeting, as his smile grew bigger. "Now I know this confusing but-"
A low grumbling was heard from behind, causing everything to grow quiet, even Nightlight himself. The glowing boy turned to point his attention towards the source of the ominous sound. There stood a black horde off in the distance. Each eye stared on unmoving with malice inside their glowing pupils. Then, one mouth opened, ooze flowing from the teeth which stained the earth. Nightlight leapt up in the air and positioned himself between his injured comrade and the hostile crowd. His spear raised steadily in preparation. "Can you stand?" His voice was soft as he quickly glanced to his twin.
When his voice destroyed the sudden silence, one of the fearlings started to charge, then another and another. Sharp cracks filled the air as they snapped their bared teeth. Like a black current they started to rush towards the tree. A bright light blasted against the oncoming group which caused a few to stop in their tracks. With the attack monumentally stalled, Nightlight reached out a hand toward his twin.
"I’m a mutant." Charles chuckled. “But technically a human with a Genetic mutation which caused my telepathy, yes." he shook his head as he mused over the boy’s questioned. “Not since I was about five years old, I’m afraid."
"Be prepared to believe in them again!" A grin stretches from ear to ear, a bit too eagerly. "Because they're real!" His voice rings out quite joyously. Nightlight always enjoyed of telling others about their existence. It helped to accumulate new believers, which in turn created new friends as well. "We're called the Guardians, you see, and that is what I am."
Then, his smile faded ever so slightly while he began to scratch his chin with a hint of embarrassment. "Oh, and I never caught your name."

The spectral boy opened his pale green eyes, still blurred with a running mind. It took a minute for his vision to straighten out and actually see who was calling to him. To his astonishment, he saw an exact copy of himself. The hair, the green eyes, even the glow. Well, the glow was much brighter than his own right now since he was on the verge of dying… Nightlight groaned a bit in response to his beckoning, concluding that he was still [Barely] alive.
Nightlight stopped all of his whirred thinking to focus on what was happening. How could there be another of him? This was probably one of Pitch’s dirty tricks to make him believe in a false sense of security. No… That would be too much trouble for even the Nightmare king to go through. Maybe, just maybe.. this other glowing boy was going to save his life.
When their eyes, Nightlight felt his body drop a few degrees. This other was him, no doubt about it. Well not him him, he was still himself, but this person was also him, in a sense. And this fact made it harder for Nightlight to look at the other, to see his own face etched in pain and body covered in blood. It was looking into some terrible future. The situation was rather confusing, and made his brain hurt for a moment. Nightlight figured to ignore this thought, since it was a distraction, and focus on the bigger issue: his other self's wounds.
His eyes scanned the area. No fearlings had tried advancing, yet. But he could still sense their presence. Better make this quick. Nightlight crawled even closer to the injured one until he was sitting right beside him; his own head hovering over the twin. The boy didn't have any medical supplies upon him, but he did know one trick that always vitalized his own body. An arm raised up with the powerful spear within the palm, the sharp blade glimmering against the moon's rays. It's glow began pulsating throughout the crystal and it became brighter and brighter and brighter. Then, slowly, he lowered the tip until it shimmered just above the pool of blood that threatened his twin's life. Light strands shot out, latching onto the wound, and began to twirl about as it dropped into the cut as a glowing mist. More beams came into formation that traveled across the boy's body, trying to kindle his once brilliant glow and help him find the strength to fight against the hands of death.
Charles chuckled and touched his temple for a brief moment. “I don’t mean you any harm at all. I usually keep my mutation to myself so I don’t intrude on people’s privacy. Or I sometimes pick out odd pieces of information from their current thoughts." he dropped his hand and nodded. “An alien you say? How odd."
The boy's shoulders gave a slight jolt and body a bright flash as a voice that didn't belong to him entered his mind. It caused his eyes to go wide, though a even wider smile quickly followed. His throat rumbled with a quiet chuckle of amusement and excitement before he continued with their conversation. "As odd as humans with telepathic powers." Nightlight says with a smirk. "And no ordinary alien either. Say, mister, do you believe in Santa?" Nightlight lands upon the ground as he inquires the man, while also realizing he never asked for a name. How rude of him. "The Tooth Fairy? The Easter Bunny?"
Charles also chuckled, shaking his head. “I’m a mutant. A telepathic one at that." he tilted his head. “Are you a mutant? I would assume so by your abilities but I could be wrong."
Mutant. The word ran through his head yet he couldn't think of another time he had heard it used in this context before. Nightlight's pouted a bit and he leaned back on himself. "Hm, never heard of a 'mutant' before, actually." This would explain the man's calmness towards Nightlight. He must see people with odd abilities frequently. The concept of mutants was becoming ever more intriguing. "Telepathic you say?" That's a term he's heard before. He knew it had to do with influencing other's mind. This was a bit unsettling, but the other didn't seem to mean any harm. "Care to show?"
Then Nightlight gestured to himself with his thumb. "And the best term this language has is alien."
Fearling Princess and Moonlight warrior: Closed
Lulu lick her lips. The boy has spunk she’ll give him that. Not many would mock the fearling opening. The fearling itself was starting to get upset being near the boy. “Lulu" her voice was quiet barely above whisper.
She was nothing like her old self who much more in control and above all didn’t show how nervous she really was. She eye the spear it was different she could feel the magic from it and she knew magic wound take longer to heal then nonmagic wounds. She shiver and drew into herself. Maybe she should have left thought the backdoor instead of talk to this Nightlight person. No she had anyone to talk too in along time will beside the fearling who for some reason were really active right now. She scowled the constant chatter was starting to grant on her nerves. “Did you need something?"
"Oh, well..." He went silent for a moment, collecting his thoughts. "I was wondering.... why that hasn't attacked you yet." The boy's head motioned back towards the fearling, though this time he didn't make eye contact, he instead looked more intently at the girl. There was darkness surrounding her, yes, but he didn't get a threatening vibe from her, the only thing that had really put him on edge was the presence of the fearling. It was a bit strange and made him all the more curious. His head turned at a small angle while both eyes narrowed in thought.
Charles stepped back a few steps, chuckling as he observed the boy. “I do." he nodded, dropping his fingers from his temple and crossing his arms. “What about you? Do you have a special ability perhaps?"
The boy smirked at the question. "Oh, I don't know." Nightlight leapt up, though his feet never went back to the floor. Instead, his legs criss-crossed against themselves in midair while his hand went to his head, scratching it in fake confusion. "I think I might be able to do something." Nightlight chuckled to himself for a bit. "But what about you?" Both his hands slapped down on his own knees. Then, his hovering body leaned forward, allowing his head to come forward a few inches.
Charles chuckled in amazement and gently put his hand on the window, opening it further. “Hello there." he supposed he would avoid the difficult questions and be as polite as possible.
Nightlight looked down at the wider opening with wide eyes and leaned forward a bit. There was a delay in his actions, a small nervousness towards the other's intentions. The temptation was too much, though, and after a few seconds pause Nightlight dove underneath the window and made his way inside. Once in,his body did a slight twirl upward until the boy was upright and standing. The boy stood there for a moment, investigating his surroundings as well as the peculiar stranger.
"This is strange, normally adults can't see me." The boy admitted in a soft voice. "Do you have a special ability?" Nightlight figured as such. An adult hardly held onto the belief of the Guardians, so the possible of this person being a believer was very slim.
Charles slowly put the glass down and stood up, squinting. Perhaps he’d had too much to drink tonight, his mind was playing tricks on him, most certainly. There seemed to be a figure at his window. He pressed his fingers against his temple and approached the glass, a look of curiousity on his own face. Perhaps it was a mutant.
Nightlight's eyebrows rose in surprise when the man stood up. What was he about to do? The boy watched closely as the man... walked to the window?? His eyebrows came down now, a bit confused. Did the man notice his shimmer? He should really get a hold of that. Nightlight didn't have much time to ponder on this,however, when he realized the other was staring at him now. Not looking in his direction but really at the view behind him, but actually at him.
The boy jerked back from the window, letting shock over take his actions for a moment. Then, slowly, he placed a hand back on the smooth glass. Quickly excitement replaced his shock. He's seen by an adult! What a rare occurrence, an even rarer one since the adult wasn't freaking out. Nightlight offered a smile to the stranger and wiggled his fingers in a wave while the motion caused sparks to form. Then lowering his head, he placed his lips by the crack in the window and muttered a, "Hello," to the person.
Charles was just about finishing up with a few papers, the night was young but he’d had a trying day. He was going to finish the whiskey he’d poured himself and head to bed, force himself to forget the work he was in desperate need to finish before he had to head back to England. He’d left the window of the study open a crack, even though he had the fire on to warm the freezing room. It was actually the coldest room in the house in his opinion. Most of his treasured memories were spent in this room. Perhaps that’s why it was favourite. Despite how cold it got or how idiotic he was for leaving the window open, like his father used to, he still enjoyed this room.
Charles set his pen down and shuffled the papers, deciding to call it a night. He leaned back and picked the glass up, bringing it to his lips as his gaze flickered to the window.
As he twirled through the air, only taking moments to see what the buildings had laying inside, he wasn't prepared to make eye contact with another. So, when he did, it was caused for curiosity. The boy halted in mid air while his body shifted up in down in the empty space. Then, head moving back, he glanced back the window. Did that man just look at me? This was a common occurrence. A simple look outside and Nightlight believed that the human was actually viewing him and not the great outdoors.
Still, no harm in taking another look. He flew back to the home and placed himself right before the window to look outside. A man resided inside, though he didn't look to much out of the ordinary. He doubted the man did see him, or could see him for that matter. It was usually only children who ever gave him notice. But, this quality gave him perfect opportunities to people watch. Oh, how he loved to people watch. Placing his hands on the glass, he pressed his face close against the clear surface with wide green eyes that were filled with interest. The window shimmered underneath his touch, just as his body did though incredibly dimmer, with shifting tints of color moving throughout it's surface.
Fearling Princess and Moonlight warrior: Closed
She eye the room. Nothing living was here expect her. Her eyes sweep the thought the room seeing nothing out the ordinary. Crunch. She looked down to see a photo. It was her smiling. She pick up the picture and placed it back where it belong. She would have to come back later to clean up the mess but otherwise it was just her in the house. She looked out the front door and saw …..glowing boy? She blinked. The fearling didn’t like him and they made it know in her head at the very least he could hear it but still was annoying. She many time wonder how Pitch deal with this.
She bit her lip. the question now is whether it be a good idea to leave the safety of the house. She took caution steps to the front door. “Yes." was her quiet reply. She didn’t leave the safety of the house. She was scared of the glowing child she didn’t know if he was dangerous to her or not. If she learn anything during her time of travel not everything is as it seem.
When the woman finally approached, Nightlight shook his head, regained his composure, and forced his previous jittery manner to dissolve. Once his eyes opened again they were much calmer. Still, a pleasant smile curled up across his lips, revealing white shimmering teeth in his mouth. From what he could see the person didn't look like they mean to harm him. Yet.
He pulled the spear back, making it standing upright as he places the curled crook onto the ground. The tip twinkled dimly, just like his own body, with a faint tint of green. Nightlight made sure to place the spear with the deadly tip on the side that the fearling was currently present. He glanced over at the dark creature, eyes blank and dim, until finally smirking and nodding towards the dark being with a slight air of mockery before setting his eyes back on the woman. "Hello there. I am Nightlight. And who might you be?" The boy's tone was friendly enough, though he was still cautious.
