I am Ranger Speck Peony, they/them, a Champion-ranked trainer, and I work for PEPA (Pokémon Environmental Protection Association), UCC (Unovan Conservation Center) and the Entralink Preserve, and the Pokémon League International, and I am a fully licensed Pokémon Ranger, specialized in Disaster Control and Relief. Hi! I'm Speck, they/them, and I work for Pokèmon Environmental Protection Agency, or PEPA, and the Unovan Conservation Center, or the UCC, I contract with the Pokèmon League International, I am a fully licenced Pokèmon Ranger, and I am a fully licenced Pokémon Professor, specializing in Pokémon Environmental Sciences. I have a team of thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen seventeen EIGHTEEN Pokèmon partners, and before you ask yes, it is legal for me to carry all of them on me, it comes with being a Ranger, though barely any of us take advantage of it. And yes, it is a lot of work. And no, I do not think I will adopt or catch any more.

Here's a couple facts about me!

I am currently 18 years old!

I live in Alola, though I travel a lot for my work.

I was born and raised in Unova.

I am a descendent of the Pearl Clan.

I went on my Pokèmon journey when I was 10. I ended up getting Champion rank.

I am a fully licenced Pokèmon Ranger.

As a Ranger, I specialize in Disaster Control and Relief.

I'm a Pokèmon Professor! My area of study is in Pokèmon environmental behaviors and patterns.

I went to Unova's Ranger Academy in Opelucid City.

I went to Opelucid University to get my Professor degree.

My most consistent job in the past two years has been the setting up of an ancient Pokèmon preserve in the center of Unova.

I love to just sit down and relax (but I'm not able to do a lot of that)

It takes about 30 minutes to feed my Pokèmon for each meal. (It used to be like an hour and a half, but I've got it down to a system)

I hate doing math!

I love doing talks and presentations! I get around to all sorts of places of higher education and other events.

If I were to specialize in a single type, that type would be Water!

I have a Key Stone from Kalos, Z-Ring from Alola, D-Max Band from Galar, and and a Tera Orb from Paldea.

Some worldbuilding notes!

The world itself operates on anime rules, i.e. Pokémon knowing more than four moves, but with game plot lines. Don't think about it too hard. (The Pokémon anime is not a piece of media in this universe.)

Sentient Pokémon that aren't Legendaries are few and far between. Speaking Pokémon do exist, but are even rarer, only a few being known about.

Speaking of sentient and talking Pokémon, Jessie, James, and Meowth are ex-Team Rocket members. Now they work towards stopping Pokémon theft and mistreatment. (I love these Bidoofuses)

Hisuian variants of Pokémon are either endangered, extinct in the wild, or thought to be extinct in the wild. An exception to this is White-Striped Basculin, which still exist in much smaller regions like Kitakami.

.. We are lucky that Lysandre, cure his name, didn't manage to bring the ultimate weapon to full fruition. I can't imagine what would have happened.

The Professor, Sina and I visit Geosenge every year. There's a memorial, now. The town itself is doing better, which I am thankful for.

I saw the memorial when it was being built, all those years ago, but I haven't been there since. It was still a great memorial then.

I'm just glad there are more powerful trainers rising up in every region. The more we have, the better chances we'll have against a tragedy like those again.

I really need to actually write the paper on the Bond Phenomenon that I've been putting off for way too long, so I'm fishing for research.

Have you ever witnessed or been a part of the Bond Phenomenon? Please, tell me your experience!

I can't just use myself as an example on a paper.

For those who don't know of the Bond Phenomenon, it is described as such: the phenomenon when a Pokémon bonds to a partner (not particularly a Pokémon trainer or even a human), which dramatically increases one's lifespan (using the side with the longer lifespan) and power.

An expression of this phenomenon comes in the form of Mega Evolution, with the help of a Mega Stone and Key Stone, though the items may not be required if the bond between partners is strong enough.

I'll start with a couple stories of my own!

My mother has two partners, a Cinccino and a Serperior. Both of these Pokémon have average lifespans of around 20-25 years, but yet both of these Pokémon are over double my own age, about forty years old each.

My twin brother has three separate Pokémon that are known to be able to Mega Evolve. When I battled him last, I noticed the air around him and his Pokémon shift and bend, and his Pokémon just barely gained the traits of their Mega form: the ends of his Sceptile's leaves and tail were just so slightly red tipped, his Gengar developed a slit on his forehead where a Mega Gengar's third eye would be, and his Garchomp's fins were slightly red on the tips.

Of course, as a professional battler with a great relationship with my own Pokémon partners, I've also experienced it. I believe the best example of this is the strength of my first six Pokémon, especially when they were unevolved. My Gyarados Mimi fought and evolved during the Unova championships, along with my Dragonite Dini. Mari and Ochi weren't even fully evolved at that point yet either. Shoji still hasn't evolved from a Pikachu, and yet they all fought and defeated Pokémon of their final evolution chain and huge power!

Of course, lastly, there's Nelson, my partner Spheal for life. She's my most powerful Pokémon partner, despite still being in her unevolved phase. She's learned moves that are completely unnatural for her species with ease, and she's laid waste to several Champion-level teams by herself.

🏋️- Training. What’s your muse’s overall philosophy for training their Pokémon? What types of drills do they give their Pokémon, if any? Alternatively, the sender can specify a Pokémon on the muse’s party to get in-character training advice.

I specialize my training for each one of my partners! It's definitely a lot of work, but it's really great to do, especially when we've done it enough times that I don't have to run their training.

Right now, a lot of my partners are working on learning new moves that are not naturally learned by their species. For example, Mari is focusing on learning Grassy Glide, since she got familiar with Grass moves after learning Grass Knot. I think she's planning on figuring out a couple more Grass moves.

curious question for the world: how many of y'all have trainer licenses? if your region even does that, idk if all of them do

i got mine and ive got like three badges and that's it but I've still got it.

notably you don't have to have a license to own a pokemon as like a family member / pet thing, but you do for battling here in kanto

Here in Unova, as far as I can tell a trainer's license is only if you're intending to battle competitively and for monetary stakes.

I believe it's also to make sure the local government gets their cut of the pie come tax season and so that pokemon centers and pharmacies like mine stay free and affordable.

You'll only get checked if you have a powerful looking pokemon from what I've seen though.

Reasons I wasn't checked for my license:

I sent out a Totodile as my first Pokémon in battle

I had a Pikachu sitting on my shoulder

I had a pink Spheal by my feet

Reasons why I was checked for my license:

I sent out a Gyarados (with a Mega Stone) as my second Pokémon (no, I did not Mega Evolve, I was battling a novice trainer and teaching them why typing isn't everything)

People noticed the Z-Ring, Dynamax Band, and Keystone on me

The "unknown Pokémon" that popped out of his ball because he heard all of the noise (he was very excited to meet new people)

Sobs echoed through the space.

The human held their Feraligatr partner's claws in each hand.

"I'm sorry I can't go with you," they say. "If I could I would, but I can't."

The Feraligatr looked back into his trainer's eyes.

"I'm sure... you'll be happy there." The trainer lets go of one of the Feraligatr's claws to wipe at their face with their arm. "Remember, back when we fought Lance? I told you I would love you forever."

Tears fall from the Feraligatr's face.

"And back when we fought Morty? I told you I'd keep you by my side as long as I could."

The Croconaw tears up more.

"And way back when we first met in the lab? I said... I said I'd do anything to keep you happy."

"Then why do you have to leave?!" the Totodile shouts. "You said we would stay together forever!"

The human shakes their head. "I said I wanted to. And I still do. But... but that can't happen anymore. I can't go on. But you can."

"But I don't want to go on without you!"

The tears grow messier, floating upwards. "I can't. I really, really can't. But you can. You can go out there and live on. You can find happiness. But I can't go with you."

Totodile slams into the human's chest, hugging them with their tiny arms. "Please come with me."

The human hugs him back. "I want to. I want to so badly." They hold Totodile out at arms length. "Take this." The human pulls their necklace, a leather cord with a small golden feather pendant, over their head and places it over Totodile's head.

Totodile, crying, shakes his head, tears shaking of sparkling like diamonds. "No, it's yours! You need to keep it!"

"You can have it now. It's yours."

The space around them starts to rush faster as the warped time starts to return to normal.

"It seems like our time is up," the human says. "I love you, Totomi. I'll love you until the end of time and space."

"Please... please don't leave me Vang!"

"In all of vast space, Totomi, you will find your place. That's a fact." Vang smiles, bright pearl-like tears moving out of the way. "Let's meet tomorrow together."

Totomi reaches out, trying to grasp at Vang's hand, both knowing the meaning behind the human's words. The human waves goodbye to the Totodile, as he falls back. Vang rises up, turning into scribbles.

Totomi lands, back on the concrete, a fountain just beside them as the noises of busy people fill his ears.

It seems to have traveled across space and time to join me from the Johto Region.
