Hello everyone,

I was supposed to come back from hiatus today, but I have a bit of a sad announcement. I'm going to be deactivating all of my accounts out of IA today (for those of those who don't know: that's Yoseob, Jia, and Chanyeol). It's not really the way that I wanted to leave IA, but the hiatus gave me the time to reach a few important realizations.

First and foremost, there is an issue of time. The amount of work necessary to get my characters here back to where I want them is too much for me to handle right now. I assumed that after finals, I'd have the time and energy to come back. But right now, I'm going to be aiming to work a full time and a part-time job, and I won't have the time and energy to put into playing my characters as well as I'd like to.

Secondly, I also have issues with what I want from a roleplay. I love my characters dearly, and I may revive them as indie accounts someday. But I do not necessarily like what IA has become. There are a lot of parts to that, and I don't think this is the time or place to air old grievances. So I won't get into it too much. Long and short of it is, I don't like what IA is right now, and I don't feel welcome being here. I'd rather cut my ties now than continue feeling disliked and unwanted.

I'm sorry to everyone that I'll be dropping plots with, and I will miss a lot of people from here. This isn't the end of me roleplaying on tumblr--for anyone who does want to look me up, you can find me at stxyongguk or es-taehyung.

I'm going to be on hiatus through the first week of May. Finals are really soon, I have three final papers to write, we're learning incredibly difficult stats in psych, and I've just felt like curling up into a ball and crying for like a week now from school alone eep ;;

When I come back, I'm going to post some more plots and open posts on Yoseob and Jia's accounts and see how those pan out

Hopefully then I get to spend my crazy long summer break regaining muse for these characters and getting to be on the dash a shitton more than I have been all semester

I don't really want to go on hiatus, but I am just exhausted to tell the truth ;; and I literally bounced between classes today somewhere between wanting to cry or throw up because I'm so anxious over my final papers two of them are styles I'm unfamiliar with because they're like 'rosemary went out and conducted research research papers' and the third is one assigned by my complete douchefuck of a professor who doesn't know how to write an assignment to save his life and then dealing with everything else on top of that is just ugh

so I don't have the time or energy to kick my activity up to eleven just yet and I like legit don't know what to do

if I get a second this or next week, I'll try and do some of my outstanding replies

It was not his to make people change their minds. If someone wanted to jump to their deaths, Chang Sun had to wait and then reap their souls. And so when he finally got on top of the roof and saw the male, in his pajamas and all, he huffed, crossing his arms but watched to see if he would actually jump or not. There was something strangely hesitant in the young man so the Reaper felt that there would be no jump, no death-bringing fly in the air. He was not going to kiss the concrete, now was he?

Another thing. This male was: a) familiar. b) He noticed, or rather felt Chang Sun was there. How was this even possible? The face, too far for recognition, did not ring any bells for the Reaper for the time being but there was a tiny voice in his head whispering ”the academy”. Was it true? They both attended the school? What were the odds for this, Chang Sun wondered as he finally started stepping towards the young man, twisting his head left and right. ”So…” He muttered, stretching his arms and cracking his fingers gently, wriggling them in the air as if to relax them.

”Should I expect you to jump any time soon or do I sense hesitation in this whole story?” The Reaper, dressed in all black and now holding a sword (because a scythe was not really his thing so for reaping, he used a sword) in his right hand. There was something odd about Yoseob’s aura as well. Those who wanted to end their lives usually had something black in their auras but he could not sense or see this in Yoseob’s. How was this possible, he wondered? The male clearly contemplated jumping so if he was not going to kill himself, then what on earth was he trying to do?

Was he trying to learn how to fly or something? No. That was ridiculous; or so the Reaper thought. He was now just two metres away from the other male, from the edge, watching him with a raised eyebrow but with much patience and curiosity glimmering in his dark orbs. ”Well? Aren’t you going to say anything?” Chang Sun asked, now having a better view of the male’s face. And that was how he recognized him. He did not know his name but now he was certain that they both attended Insolitus.

Oh! So there was someone, holding a sword, no less. Yoseob couldn’t help but wonder where the other had gotten it, but you couldn’t just ask people why they carried around deadly weaponry. The question threw him off, though, leaving the imaginary friend to consider it for a long moment before he shrugged. “You might be suspecting either. It’s really a toss-up, I think. How am I to know what you’re thinking?” Yoseob’s reply to the question was perfectly conversational, adjusting himself carefully on the ledge so he could look at the man behind him. Feeling that more of an explanation might be necessary, he added on: “I might jump, I haven’t really decided yet. I’m looking for an answer, but the question is whether I’m looking in the right place at all.”

With the grace and precision of a cat, Yoseob rolled back up onto the balls of his feet. It was almost careless, as if he had forgotten about the sheer drop only a few inches away—and maybe he had. Things had a habit of vanishing at convenient moments for him, like the world rearranged itself precisely for his benefit. “What do you think about flying?” He asked the question as if it was the most natural thing in the world, the easiest follow-up to his introduction. “Do you think that it’s the same as falling, or are they wholly different things? People have all kinds of different opinions. I haven’t been able to get a solid answer yet, and a dear friend of mine wants one.” Ah—that was who the black haired girl was. That was Emi. Of course. He hadn’t pieced that together until he had been standing here, but wasn’t she dead? Or maybe that had all been a dream, and this was too.

Too confusing. Better to just focus on the matter at hand.

“So there’s the question: will I be able to get my answer if I jump from here? Falling, flying, or both? I haven’t decided what’s the most likely, so I’m stuck here until I know. Unless you’ve shown up to answer my question?” Yoseob perked up at that, a hopeful light in his eyes. Maybe he’d get lucky with an answer this time. The most he usually got was bemused glances and nothing more.

The sound of shoes scuffing against tiles accompanied Yoseob as he went nearly flying down the hallway, a bag thudding against his shoulderblades as he went. He didn’t really remember waking up this morning, much less did he remember whiling away enough of his morning to be this late to class. Well—how late this was could be a matter of debate, to be honest. When he had first looked up at the clock, it had been half past eight, and a second glance had said a quarter after eleven.

So not only was he late for class, but he didn’t know which class he was late to. Breathless as he turned around a corner, Yoseob decided that there was really only one solution to the problem: just to go into the first classroom that he recognized and hope that he struck lucky with it. Slipping into the first open door, he ducked his head to avoid all of the staring eyes (getting a sudden funny feeling in the pit of his stomach that he was living an elementary schooler’s nightmare), sitting down in the first empty seat he saw.

Leaning over, he saw that the person sitting next to him was wholly unfamiliar. Yoseob swallowed before smiling at the other tentatively, asking in an undertone. “What did I miss?”

Rain was pouring down outside, accompanied by the occasional rumble of thunder and flash of lightning. It was about time this year that they were due a good spring storm, but that didn’t mean that Yoseob was any less bored as he walked up the halls of the school. He had come here to retrieve something he remembered forgetting around here, but he had yet to find it, and the prospects of running back through the rain didn’t seem to be too promising. So he had started wandering through empty classrooms when he had been struck by a moment of brilliance: he could be setting pranks right now.

He couldn’t even remember the last time that he had thoroughly pranked anyone. So the imaginary friend had rolled up his sleeves and set to work in the first classroom. A bucket was snatched from a lab bench, and filled up with water to be perched above a door. He found a bit of clear lacquer in an art room to paint a few sticks of chalk over with so they couldn’t write; skipping on to the next room with a growing sense of glee, Yoseob strung up a bit of fishing wire before the door to trip unsuspecting students before he went digging through the drawers of the desk, looking for something a bit more fun to work with as materials.

His search turned up some (no doubt confiscated) pocket knives, a box of tacks, and a few nails. Surveying his new tools, Yoseob set to scattering the tacks around first, leaving them in inconspicuous locations where they could prick someone. If he had the materials, he may as well use them—and this was his psychology classroom, so he may as well fill it up with all of his very best pranks. It wasn’t as if anyone would catch him, right?

14 days/evolution : day 2

Your character has powers, but what they are they? And what can they do with these powers? Which powers do they like best and which ones do they don’t care for so much? Is there a reason why one power is preferred over another one? Did their parents or family have the same powers? Perhaps they learned it from a teacher or were they programmed for it?

Yoseob's powers are interesting because their existence is as malleable as he is. When he first arrived at the Academy, Yoseob's powers were limited to simply plucking candy and toys from the air as he wanted them. He had those powers simply because he believed that he did--he saw his parents doing just that, and he picked up the power from watching them. As long as he can remember, he's been able to do it as easily as breathing. It's a matter of will to him, almost like a game--you have to look at reality, and believe so strongly that something inherently untrue is true that it becomes true. (Think along the lines of an Orwellian double think--that was how his powers worked.)

When he became Emi's imaginary friend, Yoseob was given a new set of powers. She wanted to see the world, but couldn't because of her agoraphobia, so she changed him, and gave him the ability to project illusory worlds around her. That power was something that he could use with anyone, in fact: as long as they gave him a grain of an idea or a memory, he could build whole worlds around them in the place of reality.

Both of those powers, though, seem to have been lost to him lately. In fact, he can't seem to use any of his powers voluntarily anymore--but they're still there, of course. Because of Yoseob's slipping belief in the reality of the world around him, his powers respond to reshape the world around him to be more like his beliefs. That is, more like a dream.

He's acquired a new spattering of powers that he cannot use at will, like teleportation, that come with a bizarre set of side effects. Most of them are underdeveloped at the moment, and Yoseob is blissfully unaware of how his own magic has gone awry. They have strange side-effects on him, as well, disorienting him and changing the way that he sees the world (for example, stopping him from reading numbers or words twice over).

14 days/evolution : day 1

Since we are all superficial beings in a way, the first day we will describe our characters on how they look. Every scar has a story and every mole an insecurity. Are they muscular? Or not? And if they have body modifications, where and why were they set? Tattoos? Burn marks? Golden teeth? Describe your character in detail, make sure everyone can visualize perfectly how your character looks even if they are not familiar with the faceclaim.

Yoseob is, in many ways, an average person. He was meant to be, smoothed out around the edges so that everything and nothing about him is unique all at once. His height is neither remarkably tall nor remarkably short; his facial features can seem rounded or sharp depending on the light. Part of it is not the way that he is, but the way that he is seen. Emi wanted her imaginary friend to be unremarkable, a businessman who could bring her to magical worlds.

His hair used to be bright orange, and his eyes used to be green, but right now, his hair is black and his eyes are dark brown, their natural colors. The power to change either is something that he used to have, but he can't quite remember the trick of it right now. There are perpetual dark circles under his eyes, though, as if he doesn't sleep quite enough. (which, as anyone who knows Yoseob well would know, is absolutely true)

He doesn't have many scars, just a few little ones from scrapes and pranks gone wrong. There is a scar on his chest, from where he had his heart taken out once, and a few darker ones on his hands from an encounter with Jia. For once, you can actually see these; he used to keep them covered up with illusion magic, but that power seems to be slipping away from him, too.

what: Yoseob is teleported into an inconvenient location at an inopportune moment in the middle of some kind of hunt, being either hurt accidentally or intentionally only for him to discover that pain doesn't really hurt anymore. The reaction and end to this can be plotted by person.

what: Late to class, as per usual, Yoseob sits down next to your character and asks them to explain the last twenty minutes to him. If asked, he'll admit that he can no longer read clocks.

what: Yoseob comes across you, looking a bit disoriented, and asks a rather strange question: have you ever seen an impossible land? Naturally, he's referring to the imaginary realm, which only IFs and Cheshires can get to (answer can depend on the taker), but the next question is, of course: do you think you could help him get back there?

what: There's a thunderstorm outside, and Yoseob's stuck in the school building--so he starts rigging up pranks in various rooms to go off tomorrow morning. Some of them are innocent, like buckets of water perched above doors or chalk pained with nail polish so it won't write, but some of them are just a bit more dangerous. Are you going to catch him at it, or help him out?

Grinning lightly as the other greeted him, the grin soon fell more serious he watched closely and listened intently. Normally the android was naturally attentive to all but more-so now since this situation felt a little odd; odd in the way that Yoseob was acting a little strange. Not that N knew the boy extremely personally, however, he did pay good attention lately to body language and everything spoken both to him and around him. He lunged forward with arms out in reflex to catch as the boy stumbled whilst standing, before realizing he was okay on his own for now- albeit a little wobbly. He seemed confused or discombobulated. 

He wasn’t okay? It was like those keywords switched a part of N on again, letting his full purpose and ‘ability’ to help others return full force. ”Yes, of course we are are at Insolitus. Do you not recognize the area?” he gestured around, seeing the side of the theatre building and two students walking in the distance, and hearing the fountain behind them. But what could the other mean by not being there a few minutes ago? Was N right in thinking the imaginary friend had appeared suddenly? “What do you mean you do not remember being here? ..Where could you have been?” He did say he didn’t remember being there.. perhaps he had his his head earlier, making him temporarily forget his whereabouts. Then again, N still didn’t know near enough to consider himself all-knowing with the boy’s race.

“I do recognize the area. But not everything that you see is real, not necessarily. Sometimes we make things up to be the worlds that we wanted to exist…” Yoseob’s sentence, which began thoughtfully, lapsed into silence after a moment as his brow furrowed. “But I don’t remember making up a world, either. And I don’t know who would imagine Insolitus—no offense to it, of course, but anyone who wanted to be here could simply come. Couldn’t they?” He perked up again, almost looking for a confirmation of that statement, as if to verify his rationale. It wasn’t really necessary; he couldn’t feel the usual steady drain of tiredness that came with projecting a dream world around him. So that couldn’t be it.

Crossing his arms over his stomach, Yoseob shook his head. “I mean just what I said. I can’t remember being here. For one thing, it was snowing a minute ago. We haven’t been getting freak on-and-off blizzards. I just remember tripping, and when I hit the ground…” His hands came up, showing gravel-scuffed palms as if to illustrate his point. “The storm was gone and I was here. You’ve never heard of anything like that before, have you?” It wouldn’t have been the first time that he had not remembered moving, but this was a much more drastic shift than something that could be written off easily as sleepwalking. But androids were supposed to be clever and know all kinds of things, so maybe N knew something that Yoseob didn’t.

It was probably the fifth time he was playing one and the same song on his MP3 player. But, Chang Sun had no idea what else he could listen to. Well, certainly, he would shuffle all the other songs (and he had quite a lot of those) on the player but then again…There was a strange need inside of him to keep hearing this one out over and over again. A normal person would have gotten bored of it after the second repeat but not the Reaper. He walked down the street and hummed the song, eyes half closed and the pace steady as he was making his way between two large buildings, ignoring the people passing him by.

Although his work was always unpredictable, he did not expect to see anything at that moment.  He was just minding his own business, glancing with disinterest into one of the shop windows when it hit him. He froze and his eyes turned light grey as the images played before his head. A young male getting closer to the edge of a roofstop, swaying his arms and wanting to jump. What an awful death it was and naturally, there would be no way the Reaper could stop it.

However, he could go and collect the soul. Without thinking about it more, he hurried, guided by his instincts, knowing that he would be there exactly on time, right before the male jumps. It was not his to make people change their mind, he thought. His work was to go there and collect the pour soul. Nothing more and nothing less than that.

Yet something felt off about the whole case. Something inside of him was telling him there was more to it than his mere vision. When he got into the elevator of the skyscrapper on which he knew the male was standing, Chang Sun felt that he was in for a surprise. But he had no idea what kind of a surprise this was going to be.

It was kind of cold up here, Yoseob was realizing.

He was standing on the edge of the roof, bare toes curled against the concrete, staring down at the street below. Everything about him was out of place, straight from the bare feet to the flannel pajamas that clothed his legs, a rumpled t-shirt and even messier hair completing the outfit. As far as Yoseob knew, he had been in his room a few minutes ago, disoriented after a strange mid-afternoon nap. He had rolled out of bed, trying to recollect something about standing on the edge of a roof and listening to a black-haired girl ask him what flying felt like—and then he had stepped forward and onto this roof, but she wasn’t here, and neither was the chain-link fence that had separated him from the ground before.

Yoseob exhaled, staring at the ground below with a placid expression. People below were probably looking up at him with confused expressions, but that didn’t register to the imaginary friend at all. That blurry memory from before was still at the forefront of his thoughts, obscuring everything else. The girl that he remembered had seemed so hesitant to ask her questions, as if she was afraid of not getting an answer. But he hadn’t been able to give her an answer. If he jumped from here, he wondered, would he be able to fly and let her know what it was like?

As carefully balanced as a cat, Yoseob crouched down, rubbing one of his hands over his hair. It was a troublesome question, and he hadn’t quite reached an answer yet. He was relatively confident that if he stepped forward, he would be just fine. Something in his memory seemed to be indicating that, too. But all of his memories were still so scattered and faded that he hadn’t quite worked it out yet. He was still puzzling it out when a sound behind him made him twist around, wondering who else was up here, and if they wouldn’t be able to give him a second opinion.

N had finally made it out of the, admittedly, ridiculous funk he had been in for nearly months now. I mean, for someone who finally got fed up with the emotions and acted on “fixing” them then accidentally injured himself instead therefore sending him spiraling down into the closest thing an android can have to depression, he was personally surprised at how quickly he had overcome. Now that he knew Melyria was alive and well and his systems may indeed have a way to be fixed and updated, things seemed more positive.

Yet again, the android felt close to his purpose of helping and analyzing people. Now in better moods (though still rough looking, in pain, and not quite as peppy as before), N wished to see again those he was so close to. He was enjoying fresh air on his sensors whilst on a long walk around the Academy; currently he was passing the healing fountain wondering if it could possibly help him, though doubting it quickly. Sooner than he expected, a familiar face arrived in front of him. Rising to a standing position from the ground was a desk neighbor, an imaginary friend, Yoseob. “Oh- Yoseob. Hello!” The red haired male greeted, walking up as a small smile broke his recently naturally frowning features. “Are you alright?” He asked as small talk as well as curiosity for why he might have been crouched on the ground like that- and he could have swore he didn’t see him there a few seconds ago..

The sound of his name pushed Yoseob’s mind more into focus. Looking up, his eyes fell on the face of someone that he knew from class—which class, he couldn’t remember, but that was okay. He had a name to go with the person at least. “Hi, N.” His voice sounded strange to his ears, a little bit tight in his throat and a little bit too nervous to be casual. Sucking in a breath, Yoseob straightened up to his feet, his balance teetering for a moment, arms swinging wide. Why is N here? I can’t really be at Insolitus, I was just in the… fairy realms? Was it there? Something’s not right. His stomach twisted, swaying on his feet again. This whole ordeal was making him feel almost seasick, like the world wasn't steady around him.

“I’m okay, I think…” His usual response came thoughtlessly before Yoseob paused, his brow furrowing. He seemed to remember N being helpful before, with sorting out the difference between what was real and what wasn’t. Unless, of course, he had made that up, too. But he definitely knew N, so maybe it was real, after all. “Or, no, I’m not. Do you mind telling me where we are?” His voice still sounded faraway, but at least in that faraway tone, he seemed a lot calmer and more rational now. “We’re not at Insolitus, are we? I don’t remember being here a few minutes ago.” Everything around him looked familiar, but he didn’t really trust what seemed real. Imaginary friend as he was, he should know better than that.

—and Yoseob’s hands hit the ground, gravel skidding away from his palms as he came into contact with it, breath going out of his chest and vision blacking for a second. For a moment, he simply lay against the concrete, stunned and breathless. The world around him seemed to have changed; for one thing, he could no longer hear the howling of the blizzard, nor the screams of someone chasing him. And the air seemed warmer against his skin, no longer biting him with the chill. But what was worse was a strange and fuzzy gap, as if that was much more distant than when he had begun his fall—

His fingers curled into fists, and Yoseob pushed himself up off of the ground, shaking his head to clear it as he straightened. It was dark out, with a few slanting rays of dying sunshine revealing his surroundings. Green eyes narrowed as he looked around, trying to sort out the sudden change of locale that had happened. Somewhere behind him, he could hear water splashing; twisting, he saw that it was a fountain. A familiar one, at that; it looked just like the healing fountain at Insolitus.

“Where am I?”
