I said a bit ago that "I Am Frankelda" (Mexico's first feature length stop motion film) is better than all the laika and tim burton movies it gets compared to and I mean it, have a clip and screenshots

El Principe de los Sustos

Herneval, the fallen Prince of the Realm of Terrors.

Seeing how much inspiration the creators behind 'Soy Frankelda'/'I'm Frankelda' drew from classical paintings... well... inspired me! I based this on Franz von Stuck's 'Lucifer' 1890. I've been fascinated by that painting for a long time and Herneval somewhat being a portrayal of Lucifer fits IMO.

The horror and realisation of knowing your consciousness exists outside of your body and never to be able to return to it; that's what I wanted to evoke... Buuuuuut I was also pretty much putting all of my bad feelings of the past weeks into this, so like Frankelda, I just started venting and having Herneval be my outlet oops... So many things I tried to implement here as a reference, but this piece became a bit too much and started to live a life on it's own. So it's not... fully finished, but then again, what ever is? I'm proud of how this turned out so far and maybe I'll return to it in the future.

Total time creating this is around 6 hours 34 minutes

I tried to combine Herneval with elements from his book form, in case he comes back to life 🤧by combining him with the book(?

Things I changed:

🔹I now placed the book's buckle on his forehead and added details of rivets on the sides of his eyes.

🔹The feathers on his head now end in white simulated sheets of paper (but he also has pieces of paper in his plumage(?)

🔹His wings now contain sheets of paper.

🔹Long, thin blue feathers throughout his plumage, simulating the ink of the writings.

🔹His claws are now made of metal(?.

🔹In his hand he has a kind of paper sword like Fern. Idk, I didn't think about it much.

Btw, the design turned out awful, don't pay too much attention to it, but it helped me practice coloring 😃👍
