I know I donāt have so many followers, but tumblr is traditionally where Iāve gone to talk about stuff with friends. Sometimes things are really hard, so it helps to think about all the stuff Iāve been able to do already. And of course, escaping for a little while into the lives of characters that I love always helps, too.

Tbh Colin/Jon is kind of Dumb and it's just because I definitely headcanon Colin as gay and I don't have a default headcanon sexuality for Jon. I also like it because I'm so bitter that they replaced Colin with Jon so I like to subvert it by having them like each other to the point that it makes Damian jealous because he thought he would be the favorite friend and then he isn't.
It's not something I'm super serious about but I would definitely use it if the opportunity presented itself

I've literally written an AU where Mar'i is Catwoman, so that would be my first answer. My next answer is that I am a few chapters in google docs into a story where both Mar'i and Damian are assassins, so that would be my next answer.
For the sake of this meme, the next choice would be Damian as the bad guy, Mar'i as the good guy.
Damian probably makes it all the way to becoming Batman and he gets really fed up with the no kill rule
He probably kills the Joker tbh. I know there are so many AUs where the Jokwr being killed is what tips the main character into being a murderer and therefore, in comics world, a total crazed bad guy.
But yeah Damian kills the Joker and he isn't sorry about it. He gets into an argument with several other members of the Batfam about it and essentially they make him give up the cowl

He keeps refusing to apologize and the other members of the Batfam won't let him operate as a vigilante at all, stating that they can't trust him and he won't follow their rules. Maybe he goes to Jason for advice, and I think Jason would tell him that he did good and fuck those other guys, but that frustrates him because he wants to be a real member of the batfam again, not kind of an outsider like Jason
He moves out of the Manor and doesn't give anyone his new address and he's having a hard time feeling isolated. And he keeps working but he doesn't adopt a new alias, he just does his thing and gets out before the Batfam sees him
Mar'i thinks everyone is being too hard on him and she's steuggling with the more detective side of vigilantism, turna out she doesn't have a knack for it
She's trying really hard to track down Damian on her own and he ends up confronting about why she's looking for him and ehat she thinks she's doing
She pours her heart out and says she misses him, also she doesn't get why everyone is so upset. Maybe it's raining or some shit and Damian takes her back to his secret apartment
They kiss or something and Mar'i ends up secretly helping Damian against the rest of the Batfam's wishes for a fre chapters. So he's kind of an anti hero more so than a criminal but w/e
Dick ends up finding her because of the iphone find my phone thing and he sits them down and he's mad, like wtf. Maybe he walked in on them making out or doing the do so he's also angry about that
The two of them argue that Gotham has been more safr since the joker was killed, Harley Quinn wemt a little crazy but she's able to be talked down more than the Joker so Damian feels that he did well.
Not really a happy ending but the fam un-excommunicates him. He doesn't move into the manor ever again and he never becomes Batman again but he becomes a new hero and earns back the respect of the batfam.
My thought is that maybe Mar'i accidentally kills someone but Damian covera for her even though he knows it'll land him in deep shit with the rest of the fam after promising not to kill again. Dick immediately knows it was Mar'i and not Damian but he takes all his anger out om Damian anyway. Maybe Dick and Mar'i have a nice moment where Dick admits that things are different, that he's upset with her but he'd rather her kill than be killed, and he never tells anyone else that it was her and not Damian.
So it would not be a happy ending, Damian gets officially kicked out of the Batfam, Mar'i would distance herself from him because she almost lost her father and it was too much for her
But then in an epilogue they meet up on the streets of Gotham again and either they're just still in love or maybe something ridiculous like Mar'i is pregnant.
To be honest I feel like locked in a room and time travel are weird companions because if you're locked in a room then time traveling won't affect you much? So I went with time travel as in the characters specifically travelling through their own timeline as in de-aging. And I honestly never like de-aging personally but after watching Gotham I've become more open to Bruce's adventures between the time his parents died and he becomes Batman. SO
Bruce and Damian are captured, I'm thinking by someone like Ra's al Ghul who has a lot of knowledge about Bruce's life and also maybe Lazarus pits can de-age you (question mark?) and Bruce starts de-aging
Bruce is still pretty useful but as he de-ages he becomes less knowledgable in general
Damian has to rely on his own skills to get them out of the mess they're in, but also he deals with Bruce at different stages in his life
Featuring especially: "Jason just died" Bruce who's in a really dark place, high school graduate considering college but also considering becoming Batman Bruce, and obviously "my parents just died" young Bruce and a really small amount of "I'm a regular rich kid with two alive parents" Bruce
Bruce probably doesn't remember anything when Damian saves them and is able to re-age him but Damian learns about his father (and himself)
Idk this one wasn't as good as some of the others, it's something that would really obky be a character study but would probably still be fun

Damian end up getting really mad and doesn't want to go and Mar'i encourages him that it'll still be fun wothout a date
Some bad guy takes the whole dance hostage or something and the three of them need to save everyone while also staying undercover
While theyre saving everyone Mar'i and Damian are in a high stress situation and they end up yelling at each other and also confessing theur mutual crush

My first instinct was that Raven owned a store that's actually a witchy shop with crystals and shit and also witchy books
But honestly I'm gonna flip it and have BB own a comic book store (he kept failing community college classes so Dayton just buys him a comic shop so he can have a stable income)
Raven goes in all the time with her goth boyfriend because he likes some manga
BB has a huge crush on her and he always talks her up at the cash register
Raven immediately picks up on his feelings and is uncomfortable at first but appreciates that he never hits on her and respects her space
He ends up recommending a comic book for her which she really enjoys
Her bf eventually breaks up with her but she's not really bothered and she continues going to the comic shop to read the series BB recommended
The last issue comes out and she gets really sad because she won't have a reason to go to the store anymore
A huge rainstorm comes by right when the store is about to close and BB offers to let her stay until it lets up
They end up eating leftover chinese from the fridge in the kitchen and bonding and Raven kisses him on the cheek and leaves her number once the rain finally lets up
I think a fun way to do this would be to have Trigon have successfully taken over Earth and some other parts of the universe, the GLs are probably always preoccupied with that. Oh and the Teen Titans were never formed sadly.
Dick Grayson is a space ranger--not really a space cop, but he has a moral code that he sticks to and he does jobs for people and helps them and get paid
The rest of the galaxy knows that Trigin is out there but most other plabets aren't too busy trying to help Earth, they just leave it thinking that maybe Trigon will be sated before taking over their planet
Dick Grayson makes his way to Tamaran on a job, causes a bit of trouble, Blackfire wants to have him killed but Kory intervenes and saves him
(Kory's origin story can be that instead of escaping to earth she just escaped back to Tamaran and fought off the Citadelians there)
Anyway Kory and Dick coming together fulfilled some kind of prophecy that allowed Raven to gain some control over her powers and break free from Trigon and the three of them can save the world from him
Maybe some of the other Titans get involved too but tbh a lot of the story would center on Lory and Dick in the paradise of Tamaran while the rest of the universe is going to shit and Dick's complex Thoughts about Stuff

just wanna thank you for defending the demonfire ship against those haters! i think its the new dc animated universe that turns people off of that ship, and only want to accept mar'i as damian's niece. but the uncle/niece thing is NOT canon and only exists in their minds. and i don't think most of them have even read a comicbook with mar'i in it. i wish they would realize this and respect other fans' interpretations of mar'i and damian's potential relationship. (mar'i's not canon anyway, sadly)
To be totally honest I think itās the tumblr culture: Be the Most Morally Correct, donāt think critically about character interpretations that donāt line up with fanon, infantalize and cheapen female relationships until they fit into the nuclear family. Maybe the DC animated universe where the whole Batfam age gap is getting smaller and smaller has something to do with it, because as Dick and Damianās ages get closer together itās weirder and weirder to think about Dickās daughter dating Damian, but then itās not really relevant anyway.Ā
I donāt want to pretend itās not a complicated issue, because there are a lot of layers to both Damianās and Marāiās and even Bruceās and Dickās characters that would go into making it work. The only thing is that I like how complicated it is whereas other people seem to hate that.
I understand the desire to delete your blog b/c of tumblr new restrictions. Heck, I've been thinking about it too, regardless, if you do I just want to thank you for showing me into demonfire fandom. It's been a wild ride for me and has even inspired me into writing again. I wish you well with whatever you decide.
Honestly, the major downside of feleting my tumblr would be that no other site fosters as much interaction between creators and consumers. I really like talking to people about stuff and I found that tumblr is the best place to do that. The way the site is being run is just taking the fun out of the rest of it.

I agreed with your entire post about how Mar'i and her relationship with Damian or Ibn isn't incest but I did have one question I was hoping you could clarify for me because I haven't had a chance to read the comics with Mar'i. I really thought that Mar'i was technically not biologically related to Ibn or Damian or heck, even Batman since Dick Grayson was adopted by Bruce. So I was hoping, if you didn't mind, explaining why the incest issue is so huge with Mar'i because I was unaware of it. XD
So the incest accusations donāt really have anything to do with actual comics, unless you count the single panel where Marāi tells Dick that the relationship is not incest. Dick gets upset on panel that Bruce is Ibnās dad, but thatās obviously because heās just upset that Bruce is involved at all. The rest of this is just conjecture, because none of theseĀ ādemonfire is incestā people have ever explained whyĀ itās incest.
The most popular way Marāi has been featured in fanfiction and fanart for quite a while now is for Dick and Kory to have adopted Damian into their little family as a son figure to both of them and for Marāi to be aged down to a toddler or young child. (This is something I have several issues with, but one thing at a time.) So this Grayson family with Dick and Kory as parents and Damian and Marāi as surrogate siblings has basically become fanon. So when people break out of this picture and feature the two of them in a romantic relationship, people see that as wrong and different from what they are familiar with.Ā
That and the fact that Damian is really Bruceās son and Marāi does call Bruce āGrampsā in Kingdom Come probably triggers the incest reaction. But thatās only ignoring all the context the comic gives you and Marāi herself denouncing it. I donāt know what tells you that fans donāt actually care about a character like the character saying something on panel and everyone just ignoring it, lol. Anyway, the only other thing that I imagine adds fuel to the fire is the closeness between Dick and Damian in canon comics.Ā
None of this is canon to Earth-22, but that doesnāt really stop people from complaining.

Thank you for not reading the whole post that I made. My intention was never to support or ignore incest, it was to point out that demonfire isnāt incest at all. Bringing other ships into the argument doesnāt help especially since my argument in the initial post was that their relationship is important to both of their developments as characters. Thereās nothing wrong with letting them be a family but I really prefer the non-nuclear take on family dynamics because it reflects my own non-nuclear family. I enjoy the complexities that can be brought by complex relationships and it canāt get more complex than the Batfam in Kingdom Come.
I wanted to preface this post by acknowledging that this is a controversial topic. If I get a whiff of incest I usually keep pretty far away and I'm really going to actually try to explain why I feel like Mar'i Grayson/Ibn al Xu'ffasch or Damian Wayne is not incest. If you just want to fight about it I'm not interested in that, but if you actually want to have a discussion I'd prefer to do it over asks or messages rather than reblogs and replies because I don't need to be fielding responses from people piling up and attacking me.
Mar'i Grayson is not a canon character. People like to insert her into the canon/fanon universe by deaging her to a toddler and leaving Damian the age he is in canon comics and inserting him into some nuclear Grayson family where Dick and Kory are the parents and Damian and Mar'i are the children. This take is cute and the most prevalent, but it's not canon and has no basis on judging the characters. I think that people forget this and get very angry when people play around with the family dynamic of the Graysons, and this is a huge factor in the incest argument.
Mar'i Grayson is only canon to Earth-22, the universe of Kingdom Come. Kingdom Come was very popular when it first came out in 1998 and it has a spin-off mini-series featuring Mar'i Grayson trying to put together a team of her friends to save their universe from erasure. This arc crossed over into the canon comic Titans and is probably where a lot of people first saw her.
In Earth-22, Kory has died of an ambiguous illness and Dick and Mar'i have a contentious relationship. One of their first scenes together in the Nightstar book of the mini-series shows Mar'i literally throwing starbolts at him. Mar'i has also been estranged from Bruce, since Bruce is regarded as a more aggressive vigilante. Dick appears not to have a good relationship with him or any relationship at all.
On this Earth, vigilantes have become violent and dangerous to civilians in Superman's absence. When Superman returns, he is dismayed to see what has happened to the vigilantes and he tries to reform them. He forms of team of good guy vigilantes who want to stop those who have become too violent, and on his team are Wonder Woman and Red Robin AKA Dick Grayson. He ends up going too far and just imprisoning most of the other vigilantes, and Batman gathers his own team of vigilantes called the Outsiders to oppose Superman.
One of the most interesting things about Mar'i Grayson is that she seems to realize that the vigilantes are too powerful and have become corrupt, and she teams up with Batman in an effort to find a way to stop the aggressive vigilantes without imprisoning them indefinitely. For me, this was when I really started to fall in love with Mar'i. As someone who has a pretty bad relationship with my own father, it seemed really cool to me that she was able to make her own decision about something so important and stand up to her father to do what she thinks is right.
I know I've said a lot already, but I realize that a lot of people haven't read Kingdom Come and I think it's important to understand the context to really know Mar'i's character. Basically, Mar'i Grayson is headstrong, she doesn't just do what her father wants her to do, she's had no relationship with Bruce throughout her adult life, and she reconnects with him by defying her father. Mar'i does still love her father, and she saves his life by flying him away from an atom bomb.
Now onto Ibn. He ends up being pretty pivotal to the plot. He teams up with Lex Luthor's Mankind Liberation Front, which is basically a bad-guy Justice League that wants to have the villains in control. He ends up double crossing the MLF and was teamed up with Bruce the whole time and helps save the day, sort of. We find out in his book in the mini-series that he was raised by Ra's al Ghul and NOT Bruce, and that he was tortured and buried alive as part if his assassin training and he's pretty traumatized by that.
So to recap: Ibn and Mar'i both had no contact with Bruce any time before they were fully grown adults. They don't even meet each other until the last installment of Kingdom Come, and it's clear that they're mutually attracted to each other.
To me, this setup works because it seems more like their love and yes, sexual attraction, is pulling the batfamily back together. At the end of these events, while Mar'i is in love with Ibn, she has a better relationship with her father, an actual relationship with Bruce, and she and Ibn have this crazy passionate relationship where they try to help each other deal with their anger, which is an issue for both of them Ā in healthy ways. The only time incest is ever brought up is by Dick, who is only bringing it up because he objects to his daughter dating the heir to the League of Assassins. Mar'i brushes him off because she's already made it clear that her father can't make her decisions for her.
Mar'i Grayson is so important to me because her entire arc in Kingdom Come is centered around her desire to make her own decisions for herself. She forges her own relationships with people important to her but she still ultimately forgives her father, and even realizes how important he is to her.
I think that's a really great journey for a character who's really only a side character. I love how strong and sure of herself she is.
When people try to reduce their relationship to an uncle/niece relationship, it really defeats the entire purpose of Mar'i's arc in Kingdom Come. She's a grown woman who has made a decision she feels comfortable with and she explains this to her father, and then for people to literally subvert her whole arc and diminish the relationships she built from scratch to who her father is really squashes any agency and independence she shows us.
And, because it's related, I want to defend calling Ibn Damian instead of Ibn. The only name he's given in Kingdom come is Ibn al Xuāffasch, which is really not a name at all and translated from Arabic means son of the bat. I love Kingdom Come but I feel that it's racist of Waid never to have given him a proper name, and because Damian is the name of Bruce and Talia in canon, I think it's much more appropriate to call him that. Ibn al Xuāffasch is a title, not a name, and I guess Waid thought it sounded cool or whatever. Also Raās doesnāt have a name, his name is also a title (Head of the Demon), but Talia and Nyssa have names so I donāt think this is a good reason.
If Mar'i Grayson was dropped into the canon universe the way it's set up right now, and she had a good relationship with both her parents and with Bruce, then yeah! I concede that it would feel incestuous. But I really don't know many people who ship it in terms of the canon comics. I'm just really tired of people who haven't read Kingdom Come interpreting it as incest without bothering to take the context into consideration. Mar'i Grayson's arc is incredibly empowering to me as a woman with a complicated family, who lost her mother, who doesn't get along with her father, who has a complicated relationship with her grandparents. The fact that people are so quick to take all that away without a thought as to what it actually means is pretty sucky and I just wanted to get my two cents out there.
Because I'm sure some people are thinking about it, I've seen the meme going that if you need to defend something from being incest it's not a good start. But I think that people lately are having a problem where if something seems controversial nobody wants to think critically about it because they're worried they might be giving stock to something morally wrong. Which is a huge problem that definitely has ramifications in real life. If you really think that demonfire is incest after reading this, that's fine and I purposefully never add the Mar'i or Damian tags to any demonfire content because I'm trying to be courteous. But I had to say something because I've never seen someone defend them outside of an active argument.
TL;DR: Demonfire isn't incest unless you take it totally out of context. Demonfire is part of Mar'i's extremely empowering arc in Kingdom Come about asserting her own identity that's separate from the men in her life. Their relationship is empowering to both parties which is kind of rare in comic relationships and part of why I love it so much. Ibn's name is swapped out for Damian's name commonly even though they aren't the same character because they are mirrors, and it's kind of racist that Waid never gave him a real name.

Dressed in a leotard and tights (and looking just as good in her 40s as she did onscreen, if you ask her) she patrols the streets of Gotham with Bruce as her faithful sidekick Robin, and her niece Kate Kane as Batgirl.Ā
Ras al Ghul is a re-occuring villain who wants to marry her, but her heart still belongs to her late husband, and anyway heās not going to make a great impression when Bruce is determined to upend a bottle of champagne on him at every party he manages to work his way into.Ā
Also featuring: former stage actor turned family butler Alfred Pennyworth, who did some Top Secret Shit in the war, tiny black girl Selina Kyle who invents her own gadgets for roof hopping and bonds with Robin over their love of Star Trek, and Only Honest Cop in Gotham Jim Gordon, who is the only law enforcement officer that doesnāt patronize Batwoman OR Robin, and is therefore a Wayne household favorite.Ā
