Of all the damn marks she’d taken, Killian Jones was the biggest thorn in her side. Sure, there were a few that came and went. Guys she’d caught, ones she fought for but ultimately lost. It was the rules of the trade but for some reason this one got to her. She took jobs in between, small bits to help fund her day-to-day; but he wasn’t getting away.
It’d started off with that first cocky visit. All the hype listed around him and the list of those that tried. She refused to go down without him, waiting for the day he finally pulled enough on her to try and shut her down. She’d tried to get into the club, ducking the bouncers but ultimately snatched up each time.
The bright idea to wait had come one night, the boot already on his car to keep him pinned in. His staff always cleared out by three, the last of his guards always left through the front while he got the last doors. It was a system she’d watched time and time again. Just tonight the alley had one other lowlife she’d not contended for.
Strong hands had gotten a sharp hold on her jacket when he’d gotten the jump on her, the twisted grip keeping her from getting the leverage she needed to put him down. Yelling wasn’t scaring him off and it was a little too late to hope someone saved the day–
That sharp yell from the alley made both of them jump, though she was on it faster than the other. His grip on her jacket faltered as he’d grabbed her hair, something she could work with as she spun around. Everything she had was put into slamming him into the wall as her heel dug at his foot to make him topple easier. She knew as soon as the thud sounded that he wasn’t going to come back up as she straightened, locking eyes with the one person she’d been meaning to find while on top of her game.
“..That about sums it up. I suppose I’m suppose to thank you?”
❝ What’s this now? ”
𝓚illian gave a gesture towards the unconscious man on the alley ground. The one that he had witnessed Emma Swan get the upper-hand on. Ignoring her questioning statement. After all, he hadn’t the chance to do anything besides possibly distract the attacker long enough for her to take him down. Killian then looped his thumb into the belt loop of his dark jeans and raised a brow of curiosity. The wheels in his head turning with false ideas of what had just gone down here.
❝ Let me guess. Playing the damsel in distress to lure out your prize target? I must say. That is indeed a first from your line of work to try such a stunt. ”
𝓦ith a shake of his head, his hand freed from the belt loop of his jeans. His hands raising up in a gesturing motion of dismissal before he turned his entire body back towards the direction he had intended to go. Towards where his car was laying in wait. Unbeknownst to him, currently booted, thanks to Emma’s original set plan.
❝ Doesn’t matter. You have a nice night, Ms. Swan. I’ve other places to be. ”
𝓣he last statement was spoken as he started walking towards the end of the alley that exited out into the private parking area. It was only as he pulled his keys from his pocket to unlock the car door that he noticed the bright yellow metal car boot on the front driver side wheel. A frown instantly forming upon his lips at the sight as well as the sound of heels approaching from behind him.
❝ Well aren’t you the clever one... ”
