Seikin has chronic nightmares.　　verdict: △

During summers, when the temperature is pretty warm, he tends to have nightmares of a fire. The fire that his grandfather set the family mansion ablaze. Seikin himself doesn't remember much of it having been very young but it's why the blond does not bother to save the electricity bill and keep the room very cool every summer. Though if his partner thinks it's cold, he would let them keep the room warm.

Seikin bites his nails.　　verdict: ✕

Nah, Seikin doesn't really bite his nails. Not a vain person per se, but he does have a clear top coat nail polish on his nails especially during dryer seasons like during winter. Some of his work involves hand modelling, so his nails are pretty well kept so no biting it. He was raised not to it anyway lest he wants a harsh punishment. But Kogane might. Only in very dire situations but stops himself when he realises he is biting it.

Linked a reddit post for those who did not know. But Seikin is somewhat averse with technology and gaming, unlike Kogane. So no, he did not vote for Sans because he doesn't even know who that is nor even know that such a poll existed lmao.

Seikin does intricate and expensive cosplays.　verdict: △

Some of his modelling work does have him doing intricate and expensive cosplays. If he is asked by a cosplayer to help out and cosplay along, he would. But due to his gynophobia, he tends to turn down cosplays involving otome. Unfortunately, Seikin is terrible at improv, so he just poses and not open his mouth. Only with the right fellow cosplayer, he can do it. Other than his fcs, he went for Varka, Noiz, and Achilles.

He is oblivous to any and all romantic interest someone may show them.　〇

Yes. Seikin is oblivious af. He is not a romantic guy at all. Like, he will try to be romantic if you told him you are romantically interested in him. Yet if you just show romantic interest, and he is not aware that you like him romantically, he might not pick up on it. Guy would pick up any hints of sexual and platonic interest but so not romantic that all romantic interest would just flew past him, this dense idiot...

lmao not at all! It is precisely because he is so chronically offline and a リア充 (riajuu, normie) that the twins would make fun of him for not knowing any meme references (Kogane is chronically online and Kyou would know enough meme refs and at least more than Seikin). To surprise the twins, Seikin is trying to learn those memes but he is doing a terrible job at it. Please help this poor guy to understand memes.

Seikin is the youngest child.　verdict: ✕

Seikin wishes he were the youngest. He has twin younger brothers. The youngest child is Kogane, the younger twin. But they have really small differences in age. The mom had the eldest at June and then the twins at January two years later.

He likes board games, but no one else wants to play with him.　verdict: ◎

YES. The twins would play with him but only as a means to make it up to him. Seikin loves board games and cards but playing with him means it gets dragged on for too damn long and he is very aggressive to finish games first. And no, he doesn't want to play the same thing but online. He wanna feel the pieces with his hands and such. Board games like Monopoly or cards like hanafuda are his all times favourites.

Seikin is a theatre kid.　verdict: 〇

Yeah, but that only lasted till junior high (middle school). He was not a theatre kid at high school, especially not after that incident that is the source of his gynophobia and misogyny. Not to mention that while Seikin is very good at keeping to the script and memorising the script, it takes mental preparation for him to do improv. It's not that he can't do it, he just can't do it right away on stage like people who are good at improv.

Seikin is a dog person. He has family dogs before and if it weren't for the fact that him living alone and having to leave for weeks and months at a time if needed meant that in another world he would for sure get a dog. His partners also remind him of certain dogs or canids. Lu's obviously a fox, Kisu's a papllion, Kai's a Belgian Malinois, Eito's a greyhound. Though, the blond also loves cats too.

Yes, he sounds like an angry twat from time to time and yes, he seems grumpy most of the time but that in a sense is him coping. Should there were something that requires something much more to take his mind off things? Well... professionally he would just let it be as a coping mechanism because it is only work but if it leaks into private life or it's private and personal that is testing him to the absolute limits?

Well, time to take a few days of retreat, completely cut off from the outside world.

No one would be able to get a hold of him during that time. Phone's turned off, offline, lodgings would be under a pseudonym. A genuine retreat probably up north that no one but Welkin would know. It is his life goal to visit every British city there is and honestly he has already visited almost every English cities and a large number of Welsh cities too, leaving the list mostly Scottish and Northern Irish cities.

If the Patriarch has a bad habit, it is not being direct most of the time. Being raised by a hedonistic father and individualistically ambitious philanthropic of a mother. Kaburagi has always been the meek obedient 'spare' child as the eldest Takashi was the one who hogged the spotlight. Him as the second son? His opinion mattered not. Being direct merely bring forth the ire of his parents and the schadenfreude of the older brother.

Not to mention, he is raised at Kyoto.

Culturally, Kyoto is different from the rest of Japan. Sure, they may hold the stereotype of Kyotoites being snobbish. Japan is already a high-context culture but Kyoto takes it several levels higher. Noisy kids? He will never tell them to shut up. He will merely comment how boisterous they are. This is the art of Sasshi (implicating and anticipating one's needs) and it is commonplace at Kyoto and for this man as well.

So, where does this come with him being angry? Well... if his 'comments' aren't being thought of, his body language will eventually do the talking. Perhaps he slammed the table a little too hard with his elbow when he rest his head on his palm. Perhaps his smile at you does not reach his eyes. Subtle signs of him being enraged. If you are the ignorance is bliss or attempt to further anger him by playing dumb, he will ignore.

Taking the anger out somewhere else and god forbid on someone else.

Or in the situation where ignoring is not an option, well... prepare to be his cash cow.

Can robots like Nanashi dream?

It is a hotly debated topic amongst Nanashi's kind. The company that made his kind says yes with reports and feedbacks to back it up. Their competitors call bs with fabrication and manipulation. In the end, it was left as an open-ended question that few bothered to give a definite answer. If you ask the humanoid himself, he would say he does not have dreams that frequently and he forgets those dreams just like anyone else.

Here is a section of Nanashi's manual published by the company that made him. One can tell this manual has been well used... and pretty worn and old, its published date faded beyond any hope of legibility.

Model 721 is prone to have nightmares of being abandoned as motivation for more affection from his owner. To simulate him being just your average joe, he is also prone to nocturnal emissions and wet dreams if he did not have the chance to relief himself in that manner over long periods of time.

Seikin is surprisingly simple when it comes to coping. Sleep it off, rub one off, work out, take up an offer for a modelling job that's more risqué than usual, spend time with the twins. Usually, that'd be more than enough for him to cope with whatever that troubles him in the first place and those are evidently healthy coping mechanism. However, if it is one of those times things would not sit well with him even after trying out all that...

Well, he would grab his Stahlrohrlanze, rip open a portal to another universe, take up whatever absurd mission his family has to offer and just leave. No one knows how long it will take. Seconds? A few moments? Hours? Days? Weeks? Months...? Years? Who knows. Chances that he might not have made it back but the twins would know before the main family and its auxiliary branch finds out.

It has been years since Seikin last took a mission like that though.

Well... not always immediately. It takes time for Kogane to ponder the changes.

But he also would not make an active effort to maintain things and slowly let himself handle the change. Unless, it genuinely breaks him without endangering him. Then he will go lengths to make sure things stay the same. That's why he didn't act when it comes to Loux and Seikin. It is also his reasoning when it comes to Phoenix.

He knows that to get worked up over something so small — so comparatively trivial compared to a wallet or identification — was very silly. Accessories and trinkets, small as they are, are meant to be replaced eventually. Sometimes, something else takes that place. Other times, it’s nothing at all. With most things that he’s been given or “collected” over the years, he understood this….

…but this bracelet was not one of them.

It’s a simple chain — straight silver, no charms, simple clasp — that he’s missing that day. It could easily be substituted for something else, were he to take the time to look, but… it’s not just the bracelet he was missing. The sensation of his fingertips brushing against it — of knowing it’s there — that is what missing. Security could be found with many such things but sentimentality is not easily replaced.

And so, he doubles back to only place he’s been that day aside from his apartment. Anxious feet drag the man riiiight back to the cafe he’d left not 30 minutes earlier.

How long has it been since he last had something that triggered his clairvoyance? Skye couldn't remember but he definitely remembered this feeling. It's a feeling that is quite difficult to express unless you are fellow clairvoyant but he knows this feeling. He merely touched what was left behind out of curiosity only to be hit by a vision, leaving him physically there but mentally, somewhere else observing.

A vision of a very sick youth, bedridden with perhaps... a fever? Skye could tell the youth seems to be a younger version of the man he has just met. Does that mean this is his? It was on the ground not too far from where they were after all...

By the time his vision is over, Skye could hear the staff asking him if he is alright, he nods as a reply. No surprises there, as to them it just seems that the man has frozen in place upon picking up the bracelet. Silently, he got up and went back to his seat.

Nanashi unabashedly did as he was told albeit with a questioning look on his face, he started manspreading perhaps a bit more than a little bit and definitely wide enough of a spot for Faith to comfortable sit in. It has been a while and from what the humanoid has heard, they are about to watch something. It's not often they face the television let alone watch it so the humanoid is brimming with curiosity on what's going on.

Just three things are on his simple mind right now. One is the feeling of his owner against him, the heat as well as the overwhelming scent too. The other thing is the stuff going on with the television, nothing significant for now. Lastly, was the permission to put his arms around his owner. With zero hesitation, Nanashi slips his arms around Faith, closing the distance in between them even more, resting head on shoulder too.

Welkin Holton was really making it hard for her, wasn't he? Giving her only part of an answer, leaving the rest unsaid and for her to worry over. Nunnally wondered what had earned her such treatment. Was it something she had said (quite possibly); or rather the peculiar social setting they had found themselves in? Though, was he even aware of it?

She chuckled.

“But you will eventually.” – Nunnally remarked, not entirely certain why. It now seemed, perhaps, that she was truly after him. It was a tiring game in the long run, especially since by now she had almost forgotten what the point of it had been, or why she had involved herself in the first place. Nevertheless, Welkin intrigued her enough to stay. Besides, it would now be rather difficult to find a graceful excuse to leave.

“And what do we have for today?” – she laughed, nodding as he suggested they head over for that cup of coffee – “Apart from a drink, I mean?”

Oh no. That sounded ridiculous again. For whatever reason, Nunnally felt as though the conversation was slipping through her fingers, becoming more and more awkward with every passing moment. Should she simply break it? But what should she say? After all, she herself had helped create this peculiar situation.

“I liked England when I was a child. And I did enjoy studying here...” – she finally said, allowing herself to speak with a little more sincerity – “But now it seems it's nothing like it used to be. Though I suppose it is I who have changed.”

“I came here at my grandmother's request and hoped to find some traces of my childhood, but it all seems to be gone... I feel so out of place now. Not even a guest, but a complete stranger. I miss New York when I am here, and Paris when I am in New York...”

“Oh, I am sorry, I didn't mean to...” – she smiled faintly – “I was just thinking how much we have changed since we played together as children and got scolded for not being the most obedient ones. Well... I certainly did.”

“But I don't want to bore you too much. I was always taught that a lady should speak little and listen well. Even if I was never particularly gifted at meeting those expectations. I suppose I still haven't decided whether that makes me a poor lady or… Or something else…” – she paused.

Welkin Kingston Holton was never an easy man to please nor placate. A boisterous young lad he was during his childhood. Yet that does not seem to be the case any longer. Why would he be such as someone in his thirties? If anything he might have turned into the boring adults that the lad had once voiced his displeasure of.

If she could find him here out of all places, surely someone would rat the future news of his succession to her as well. Or perhaps things might change and he would be the one who notify her of that. Perhaps it was not obvious, but aristocratic titles with the fanfare and flair of upper class has no place in the grounds of academia known as a university. As a lecturer, he acted and was treated no different than anyone else during his lecture, with Nunnally probably the only one who knows of Welkin's heritage.

The freedom of choice... albeit inevitable as Welkin genuinely could not remember Nunnally's preferences. Surely, something from the coffee shop would please her. From snacks, hot soups, sandwiches and wraps to cold salads and fruit bowls.

Perhaps she finally grasps that Welkin did not like to talk about such things here, the room has certainly became awkward and peculiar at this point. Thank goodness the change of topic is to something more tolerable to be talked about in an auditorium. His expression softens, their childhood huh... they did share a prep school together.

The teachers at that prep school were certainly strict, kids and pre-teens be damned. Come to think of it, they have also shared the same public school though not for long. Welkin had to take care of an ailing father during entire semester as a teen and by the time things were back to normal, he found her about to be transferred to a lycée.

Seeing that Nunnally took French as an elective and Welkin did not, this is where they would part ways. The Brit even as a teen would certainly not want to live in France out of all places. By now, he could tell that this was her grandmother's doing.

A polite smile Welkin gave upon hearing that she enjoyed studying here. She would know the difference, since only she had an education across different countries. Meanwhile, he has always been living and studying in England. From pre-prep to prep and then a prestigious public school before pursuing higher education.

⊳ One wouldn't really feel at home when one is always on the move. But I'm glad to know our time back in prep school was enjoyable. ⊲

With his things well packed, they are adequate to leave at any moment. Welkin shook his head as if to say she is not being a bore and extends his free hand at Nunnally.

Due to how easy it is to drink rooibos tea, it tends to be the first cup of at least two that Skye orders whenever he stops by here and today's one is piping hot. He took a very small sip from it, setting it back down onto the table when asked. If anything, it would be rarer for him to not order a cup of it. Even if he dd not, he would replace it with either mugicha (barley tea), toumorokoshicha (corn tea) or kikkacha (chrysanthemum tea). Anything that is easy to drink will do. Though for this café usually only have rooibos. Corn tea is usually limited time only when the coffee shop decides to sell Korean drinks and though the shop might have chrysanthemum. Personally, Skye would rather go to an authentic Chinese restaurant for chrysanthemum tea instead.

Alas rooibos suffers the same fate as any other oxidised tea, since it has this nutty earthy taste to it that one would either like it or hate it. Not as bitter as real oxidised tea such as oolong since it does not use any sort of tea leaves nor does it have any caffeine in it. Rooibos would be one of those herbal teas but... what was the term his dad would use again? Ah right, tisanes. Skye has no idea why it is called rooibos though, he gotta look that up when he has time later. The fact that it is written in katakana ルイボス does hint that it isn't a Japanese term at the very least. The mug was gently slid towards Caio, the steam from the tea still wafting in the air. Not scalding, albeit pretty warm. A genuine offer as the second cup of beverage is pondered.
