Loss of a Simblr
Hey everyone, I know I’m not super active on Tumblr anymore but I felt it was important to come on and let everyone know some extremely sad news. It’s with a heavy heart that @engramplays and I have learned of @phoenixfg‘s passing.
On December 9th she updated us on twitter she was back in the hospital, and a few days later she passed. We didn’t learn of this news until today, and I’m not going to lie the news hit me like a truck. It took me all day to be able to make this post.
We’re going to be preparing a fundraiser for her family over the next week or two, but in the meantime, I’d appreciate if people shared this post to get the news out. She touched so many people’s hearts and was such a positive force in any gaming community she was a part of, not the least of which was The Sims community.
I would love to encourage anyone who feels up to it to share a story of their own about her.
I’m going to miss her dearly.
Art by @foxboros
I am completely devastated, although I had a feeling that something had happened because we hadn’t heard from her. This is a huge loss and my heart is broken. I’ve never met anyone so strong, positive, and full of love! She’d drop into my inbox suddenly (usually when I was feeling low and unmotivated) and shower me and my sim stories with so much love and positive energy. I also blame her for my current video game addiction. If I needed something new to play, I knew exactly who to ask. Even my family knew of her because I talked about her so much.
Phoenix (noun): a person […] regarded as uniquely remarkable in some all respect(s).
May you rest in peace, sweet Phoenix!
Prayers lifted for her mother, grandmother, sister, her beautiful nieces, and the rest of her family. I adored her and will miss her so much! ❤️❤️❤️
A little rant about the patreon two-three weeks before posting EA “rule”
I wanted to discuss this because I am sick of avoiding the matter when it’s being brought to the table by mostly mm creators (sorry but it’s true).
First of all, for those who didn’t hear about this “rule” made by SimGuruDrake, here is the orignal statement from 2017:
This rule didn’t specify the creators that were concerned which I always thought was very very unfair because many creators, especially the alpha creators, always made their meshes from scratch and never even used ea’s meshes or ea’s textures once in their creations, which is my case and MANY other alpha creators’ case. That’s why I decided that this rule wasn’t fair for me and I decided to not follow it, but sometimes I felt bad because a lot of alpha creators that create their own meshes are following this rule.
Now a couple of days ago I went over this tweet right here: https://twitter.com/felixandresims/status/1293787383012491264/photo/1
This tweet shows a discussion between felixandresims on twitter and simgurudrake on twitter. Simgurudrake is the one that made the rule in 2017 about the cc locked behind patreon. This discussion CLEARLY states that if the cc isn’t made out of ea meshes or textures, then the rule doesn’t apply and it’s 100% owned by the creator himself. Seeing this makes me really happy that finally EA acknowledges that this rule shouldn’t be applied to every creator because this isn’t fair and this isn’t even legal in my opinion (because the package format isn’t owned by ea, it can be used to put together meshes and textures for other purposes than the sims).
Now reading this I am truly hoping alpha creators and all of the creators who aren’t using ea meshes or textures will do whatever they want with their cc because it’s in their own right to not follow any rules since they own their cc.
Last thing I want to talk about is some mm creators that were beyond disrespectful to alpha creators because we, as the alpha “community”, didn’t always follow the rule. I am honestly disgusted by some of them with how disrepectful they could get with us even though we did nothing to them.. Also I was sick of their rants about the ea rule that THEY should respect and they are the only ones who are concerned about this rule..
Anyways sorry for my poor english, it’s not my native language so please bare with me and I will see you soon.
Lol who even came up with the fact that the package file format belongs to ea? This format is by default in the Windows system, fucking morons. It is freely available and is used by completely different companies, content authors, programmers, etc. You fucking consumers think you can demand anything from us creators, but look at what the sims gurus write.
For a minute, it was said earlier that only they have the right to dispose of our content and demand something. They own the rights to our content, not you. We now have a clarification that only maxis-based content can be subject to these rules. The alpha and the maxis-styled meshes and textures are still ours, because we created them, this does not apply to the edited maxis meshes (god, it was always obvious, why was this topic brought up just now?)
I saw a lot of maxis content authors who humiliated the authors of paid access, at the same time, their content was of poor quality. Funny coincidence? Because creators with some skill won’t act like fucking monkeys and throw shit, they know a thing or two about their rights. They know the value of their work. Because, you know, this is not taken out of thin air! You gotta get a hell of a lot of knowledge, have content creation equipment, and a lot of time. You have to spend your personal time testing, then, with sweat on your forehead, publish your creation and wait for the next shit from the sims community, because you guys are suuuper toxic.
You like to blame, without really understanding the problem. And the comments left here are just hysterical laughter for me. Because you again ignore the direct facts, you start to weave various creator-thieves, conversions (but this is a completely different topic), whatever, while other things are being discussed here. This is where the average content creators, copyright, and shit around the world discuss between creators and users (sorry, consumerfuckers). I am simply amazed that after all this, some individuals continue to call it “impolite” that the author himself chooses how to publish HIS content. Especially those individuals who argue that everyone, even not the richest, should have content. Look.. Do beggars buy games for such crazy money? I really doubt.
By trying to be loyal to all walks of life, you become fucking animals who don’t value other people’s work. No money for paid content? Use free! Oh, of course, you want exclusives from all over the world, so go and make money on them! You are not deprived of cc content at all, there is too much of it. Thousands of packages are created every day for free, but what do you do? You will be outraged that you didn’t get paid content just like that, because you are fucking pigs.
P.S. I have nothing against my followers, those who support me and those who use my content, but sometimes very unpleasant people and things arise that set my ass on fire like fireworks. Do not be surprised, my dears, by the fact that people completely switch to closed access to their content, because such an audience is eliminated by itself due to the reciprocal disrespect towards the author.
You only had ads before - you didn’t like it, because “there are viruses”! And do not care that these should be your problems, and not the problems of the whole damn Internet! We made early access - I don’t like it either, “too long and it should be free at all, pixels should be free, dudes!” Now we have private access - “what the hell is this shit ?? I will burn your whole family if you don’t give me this content for free” and other shit in ask for each patreon-creator. What the hell is going on with you people?..
This is absolutely toxic and laughable and I’m going to refute this point by point, so take a seat.

It is freely available and is used by completely different companies, content authors, programmers, etc. You fucking consumers think you can demand anything from us creators, but look at what the sims gurus write.
As I mentioned to you in the replies, which you neglected to address, it’s been specifically stated that EA has its own variant of the .package file format–else we’d be able to translate packages between games and between modding tools. Most modders and creators who are calling you and other permapaywall creators out KNOW this, so please, cut it out with moving goalposts, it’s not a good look.
They aren’t ours, though. This is stated in EA’s EULA. And that supposed twitter DM isn’t even real. We can’t DM the Gurus, and the metadata in the image says it was created in 2018, not 2017 as the date is in the image. Additionally, as was mentioned, unless y’all have figured out a way to put “your” meshes into the Sims 4 without cloning a basegame object, you’re entirely full of nonsense.
I’d also like to add that you’re still shilling your wares using the Sims 4 as a platform, thereby entering into EA’s Terms of Use. (Again, see the EULA.) Finally, you have many, MANY permapaywall folk using meshes from sites like TurboSquid, CGTrader, etc. This has been proven. But my favorite is @aggressivekitty‘s Spa set, which you can find no problem on TurboSquid in just a few clicks.
While there’s nothing wrong with converting meshes from other 3D sites, it’s absolutely laughable that y’all would lose your damn minds over things you didn’t actually make yourself. @felixandresims is also very guilty of this. The cognitive dissonance is unreal. Are y’all compensating those artists properly with proceeds from your Patreon? Or are you going to say, “we bought it, so we own it! It’s part of their license!” and completely ignore the fact that you buying and creating content for Sims 4 also enters you into a license? Or that people are buying your content, so they should be subject to the same license as you?
I saw a lot of maxis content authors who humiliated the authors of paid access, at the same time, their content was of poor quality. Funny coincidence?
No, because that’s not what happened, if you’re referring to the callout post regarding watermarked images and other similarly bad quality CC. Including watermarks, paper-tissue meshes without LODs, not telling people the polycount, not putting in the correct tags, are all signs of low skill and carelessness. You wouldn’t want to buy a cookie with someone’s fingernail clippings because they couldn’t be assed to care about doing their job. Why is this any different? You’re awfully good at twisting things for the layperson who isn’t a CC creator, who doesn’t know better, but you forget that there are many creators who do know what you’re saying is absolutely false.
Because creators with some skill won’t act like fucking monkeys and throw shit, they know a thing or two about their rights. They know the value of their work. Because, you know, this is not taken out of thin air!
You are not the victim here. No one is disputing that CC making is hard work.
You gotta get a hell of a lot of knowledge, have content creation equipment, and a lot of time. You have to spend your personal time testing, then, with sweat on your forehead, publish your creation and wait for the next shit from the sims community, because you guys are suuuper toxic.
The toxicity is coming from you, actually. This is a hobby. No one is forcing you to make content, nor forcing you to put it behind a permanent paywall in an EA-esque jerkoff session to your own ego. And while you could argue that no one is “forcing” someone to want your content, and I’m sure you will, please consider this:
If it really mattered all that much, and if you really enjoyed CC making, you wouldn’t talk about it like you were in a sweatshop with a gun to your head. Respectfully: Suck it up. There are many creators who are watching you and the others throw tantrums over rational discourse, so do us all a favor and stop trying to twist things as if no one knows any better.
You like to blame, without really understanding the problem. And the comments left here are just hysterical laughter for me. Because you again ignore the direct facts, you start to weave various creator-thieves, conversions (but this is a completely different topic), whatever, while other things are being discussed here.
You are literally projecting what y’all are doing. The “direct facts” are in the EULA, and how you and others treat the community like a personal bank, then freak out when you’re called on it.
This is where the average content creators, copyright, and shit around the world discuss between creators and users (sorry, consumerfuckers).
Are you 12? Your tone through all of this has been nothing but condescending. If you’re going to address the community at large, try not to be an edgy internet badass by antagonizing everyone. It’s sad, and you can do better.
I am simply amazed that after all this, some individuals continue to call it “impolite” that the author himself chooses how to publish HIS content.
How content is published isn’t the issue here, it’s that you are asking for money when the community has already been ceaselessly exploited by a company much larger than the rest of us… then proceed to twist yourself into knots acting like you’re above the rules you’ve set. How many permapaywall folk are out there putting other people’s content behind those paywalls? @aggressivekitty and @sims41ife do this to hundreds of creators, but I guess it’s okay to share it and not give those creators a dime because it’s already free, right? Again, the cognitive dissonance is staggering.
Especially those individuals who argue that everyone, even not the richest, should have content. Look.. Do beggars buy games for such crazy money? I really doubt.
I’m going to be very polite here, more polite than you’ve earned thus far.
It is none of your g-d business how someone came to own a Sims game, nor under what financial circumstances they might be living. The assumption that someone MUST have disposable income because they have a computer and have a computer game is absolutely disgusting, and shame on you for being so naive and so callous.
A person’s financial situation does not absolve you of treating your community as EA treats us. We’re all supposed to be in this together, but evidently this is not the case. You would rather spite someone for not handing you money than contribute to the community.
By trying to be loyal to all walks of life, you become fucking animals who don’t value other people’s work.
I value my work and the work of others. You, however, don’t seem to value your audience enough not to be in this hobby for anything but money.
Again, are you 12? Your first reaction to a rational post was to call people pigs en masse. Stop with this toxic nonsense.
Taking one’s toys and throwing a tantrum because one isn’t receiving the money one wanted isn’t a justifiable action. End of story. The rational thing to do when someone is being pushy for CC is to block them, not close up shop and hide your CC away. The rational thing to do is NOT to require your audience to pay for content like the little copies of EA y’all have made yourselves into.
You only had ads before - you didn’t like it, because “there are viruses”! And do not care that these should be your problems, and not the problems of the whole damn Internet!
Spreading viruses is actually the internet’s problem.
If someone injected poison into a cookie and you ate it, it would be your problem. Having a computer get a virus because you want one extra penny from adfly is the community’s problem, because it proves to the community what you actually think of your followers: Which is very little, by what I’m reading here.
First of all, I don’t see how “exclusive access” is a logical improvement to people disliking early access. Not sure what your logic is with that.
Second of all, if someone is threatening your life, that is clearly not a representation of the entire community and you should report them to the site immediately–you should NOT go off half-cocked calling everyone you don’t like a pig. Especially when posts regarding this matter have been largely reasonable. If I went to someone with a rational and calm, respectful discussion and they reacted as you have here, I would not get the best impression of that person.
Finally, I’m going to give one more suggestion: Take a step back. Step away from the computer. Go do something you like. Have a snack, a nice beverage. Breathe. You are better than this. I understand being upset, but this isn’t the optimal way to handle this situation. While I am very frustrated myself, I still wish you the best.
-
Y’all, the community is better than this. We HAVE to be better than this.
I am very tired of seeing claims of “entitlement” being thrown around by people who are clearly projecting their insecurities onto the rest of us.
For my part, I do what I do because I love this community and I have fun making CC. I have made my stance on my own Patreon content very clear.
I am not here to give the community bad content, demand payment for such, and then cry about the resulting backlash.
I’m not sure why this subset of the community is incapable of understanding these concepts.
I’m going to close out this post by reiterating, however:
DO NOT HARASS CREATORS. DO NOT SEND HATE.
This community needs to be above that. Heated discourse is one thing, but sending shitty anons and the like is another entirely.
My friend Elizabeth ( @anachrosims ) put this so fricking well, please read this.
This is a game. People are actively scamming players by putting content behind permanent paywalls. They put trackers into cc files so that the files can’t be shared amongst players, and doxx the people who provide downloads.
But they are the ones acting all high and mighty and righteous?
Pathetic.
Sims 4 Studio updates with LRLE (Wishes and Apple Blossom)
Hi all, today Studio updates with support for import/export of LRLE and an automatic package fix for packages that have outdated RLE2 images. We hope to have a batch fix for RLE2 –> LRLE conversion soon.
Going forward, new makeup packages made with Studio will work with the new in-game sliders. Items like facepaint that were not clonable after the last EA update are now clonable again. The package fix will alllow creators to update their items on a package by package basis should they want to.
Choose your version to download HERE. Read more about the update in the respective version threads.
Studio updates for Snowy Escape
Hi All, Studio (Windows & Mac) is updating for Snowy Escape. The slots issue that was introduced in the last patch has also been fixed in this version.

Yes, definitely this 😘❤️😊
Every single one of you is amazing!
Patch Issues
For those of you still trying to decide whether or not to update (I have not updated), I thought I’d share the issues I’ve seen others talking about online:
Game crashing/quitting randomly (most notably when speeding up the time x3); may be related to sentiments in existing saves
Sims unable to age up via the birthday cake
Missing or inability to place counters, beds, sofas (but this was said to be linked to Basemental Drugs which has been updated already)
Inability to toggle off fame
Toddlers not eating
Digital sketchpad not working
Extreme lagginess
Routing issues and some general weirdness with how stairs are placed now
Some weirdness with platforms
Not sure if anyone else has put something like this together already but feel free to reblog/add to this post so that everyone can make an informed decision!
Updated with AHQ Links (that I could find):

origin error code 327682:12 (The Sims 4)
I can barely repair my game. It takes hours. It uses 100% of my CPU. Occasionally, this error code pops up, killing the whole process. When that happens, even if you let it continue, it won’t finish. And when you open origin again, the repair is there, waiting to auto start so you can go through the whole nightmare again.
I had to uninstall origin to get it to stop. I spent hours in frustrated tears because this program failed, repeatedly. And when I took it to EA, they tried to blame everything but themselves. Open more ports. Check your firewall. Etc, etc. The community manager, Darko, stopped responding weeks ago.
So my point is, if you’ve also had this problem, please go add your voice to the error report [HERE] by hitting ME TOO. I know I’m not alone. At least five other simmers in my personal circle have experienced this as well. Let’s get this brought to their attention and get it fixed!
Please reblog to get this out there! Thanks!

Studio updates with Windows & Doors batch fix (Windows, Mac)
Hi all, Studio is updating today with a batch fix for custom windows and doors that were broken by the Star Wars patch. The Windows and Mac versions both have this new feature.
For creators, each version also has a feature that allows you to fix the cutout on any new creation by clicking Tools/Modding/Generate Model Cutout From Wall Cutout Texture after you’re finished importing your new wall cutout texture.
For everyone, please read the notes below.
Select your version of Studio to download HERE
Notes:
When the batch fix runs, it will create a backup folder containing the original version of all files it fixed. Please do not discard this file until you verify that your windows and doors are functioning properly in the game. If you encounter a window or door that did not fix properly, please send us the original and the broken batch-fixed versions so the problem can be investigated.
The game has a small glitch with some round windows that causes a subtle line to appear at the edge of such windows when no wallpaper is on the wall in which the window is placed and the wall is facing a certain direction. EA windows do this too (see pic below), so this is not a problem with the batch fixer, it’s a game issue. You will not notice this line once wallpaper is applied to the wall.
Running the batch fix on a window or door will cause a new resource to appear in the Warehouse view of that file. This resource records the batch fix version that was applied to the file. If you add new broken windows or doors to the same folder in which this file is placed and run the batch fix again, this resource allows Studio to skip over this file instead of fixing it again.
This batch fix took quite awhile to complete because of the immense variety of doors and windows created by our community. Andrew deserves kudos for sticking with this project even when, at times, it seemed impossible to complete.
Mate you got hacked. :\
I knowww I’m sorry to everyone who got tagged :( I never got tagged or reblogged a hack post so idk how it happened.
For those who also got hacked:
(And even if you haven’t)
Check to see if your hacker’s session is still open! You have to do this via the website: go to “settings,” then “account.” Scroll to the bottom and close the session that’s out of place (it should show an unusual location and/or device)
Go to the “linked apps” tab that should be on the right! This is important! These hackers have linked an app to your account - the one I got was called “Thunderclap”. Remove it.
Go back to your account settings - the page where the open sessions were. Change your password to something entirely different and strong.
Turn on two-factor authentication - it’s a pain in the butt but worth the safety from hackers.
Delete any of the hacker posts that got slapped onto your account by the hacker. Check your queue as well! I found a bunch there, it was ridiculous.
Please make sure you do all this in this order and as fast as possible! Stay safe everyone!!!
