Moving Image Evaluation
The theme of this project was to create a 60 second video that was inspired by an advert. The video had to contain different camera techniques and angles, whilst keeping consistent lighting.
I decided to create a video that focused on coffee. I have a coffee machines and coffee bean grinder so i thought this would be the perfect opportunity to showcase my love for it. I began by watching and analysing many coffee adverts and then decided to put my own twist on it by adding parts that i would like to see in this type of advert.
I feel my most successful part of this project was that I already had some experience in adobe premier pro. I had used it just a couple of times before but this really helped me make the video flow and understand how I wanted it to look.
The main issue throughout this project was probably the of equipment, I really wish I had some sort of stabiliser where I could move my camera and that shot would still flow as I feel at the start of my video is slightly jumpy as i’m trying to create movement.
Theres a lot of skills I have learned from this brief, mainly the use of research and planning, you can’t just go make a video, planning is so important as you need to know what shot is up next
Moving Image Techniques
Shoot between 30fps -24fps - this creates a smoother flow between clips and movement.
Lighting makes a huge difference in the quality of a finished professional video, so make it one of your top priorities during filming. If you don’t use enough properly-placed light, your video will probably look amateurish, even if it’s great in every other way.
if you’re filming indoors, you will need to be more intentional about the types of lights you use and where you place them. One thing to avoid is overhead lighting – it can cast unflattering shadows on your subjects’ faces. Windows are a good natural light source. You can also use a large lamp or two to cast the type of light you want.
Always use a tripod.
Editing
Trying out different effects can be fun during the video editing process, but don’t go too crazy. A simple, clean editing style generally looks most professional.
I will probably use premier pro as I have experience with it.

Unseen Evaluation
The theme of this project was to create a series of images using different techniques. Firstly, we had to complete a form that researched many techniques and then pick out three that we could complete in class.
The brief highlighted that we had to complete three images using three different techniques. The first task I carried out was using a high speed flash, I did this by dropping a lemon into water and catching the splash. This task was extremely interesting as I learned about the two high speed flashes I needed, the diffuser behind the bucket of water and what settings I had to have the camera at. The next task for me was cross polarisation, this was by far my favourite, I loved the colours that were brought out when using clear plastic. I also tried it on coloured plastic and researched that this is used a lot in drink photography. My last task was using a macro lens, this was amazing, I tried it on many things from fruit, leaves to shells. I ended up going for the image of the shell as I really loved the composition of it.
I feel my most successful part of this project was the cross polarisation task, I really enjoyed this and loved the colours that were brought out. I then loved it when it came to editing and I could bring the colours out even more.
The main issue throughout this project was probably the high speed flash task, you had to get the timing so spot on in order to get a clear image, so this did take a while.
Theres a lot of skills I have learned from this brief, I loved how I learnt many different types of photography in the one brief and I loved being able to shoot it at college too.

EVALUATION
The theme of this project was to create a series of five images, the five images had to be of architecture and show the many features of it. The five image then had to be put into one document and presented together.
The brief highlighted that two of the five images had to use perspective control. I used the perspective control feature through photoshop and found it extremely useful once I had learned how to work it. I decided that I was going to use this feature on the two images that I felt weren't showing the full size of the building. Due to have to take quite a wide shot, the building can be made out quite small in the final image. I there for used perspective control and stretched the building whilst making sure it was all correctly aligned in the image.
I feel my most successful part of this project was the composition was the way i picked out the most stunning parts of the building to create a five part document. I understood angles the would most highlight the beauty of the architecture.
The main issue throughout this project was the weather, it rained a lot and for these images I was set on getting blue skies. I also struggled with the perspective control at first but after a few practices I got the hang of it.
Theres a lot of skills I have learned from this brief, perspective control being the main one. I will definitely use that feature again to make certain features more prominent. I also learned how to understand the architects thoughts of how they wanted the building to look and shot images through that point of view.
Structure Perspective Warp/Control
My main aim for perspective control was to show the true size of each architectural feature. Due to having to take a wide angle shot, the size of the building really shrunk on camera.

I have decided to create an advert around coffee. It will focus on the process of creating a coffee from coffee beans.

This Glossier video is very bright and eye catching, it explores beauty in everyone. However it would be quite difficult to create as its a lot of stop motion and images being edited in, there aren’t as many camera techniques that i would like to work on involved in this.

I really love this simple Stradivarious advert, it’s mainly wide angle and long shots of a model. The main thing that would hold me back is the weather and also have no drone for the drone footage section. I love how smooth and flawless this advert is.

This is a simple advert for coffee beans. I really feel like it’s something I could carry out and put my own spin on. The shots are fairly simple, its more about the focus and composition.

Techniques
Frame Rate and Frame size
Your DSLR camera will have a range of frame sizes and frame rates from which to choose. A majority of people apparently prefer 1920 x 1080 frame size, shot either at 24 fps or 30 fps. This allows the video to capture a high level of detail and look very professional when displayed on a large monitor, or projected at meetings and conferences.
Matching shutter speed and frame rate
To get good, smooth looking video footage where any motion captured looks “natural” you need to match up your shutter speed and frame rate appropriately. This means using a shutter speed of 1/50th if shooting at 24 fps, 1/60th when shooting at 30 fps, or 1/125th when shooting at 60 fps.
