What if gula caused memory deterioration and muzuri had to witness megour basically going through dementia?
I had the idea just because of the thought of "food is fuel, whatever is burnt off needs to be replaced", so if gula is just a need to eat to fuel yourself, what is the gula doing if you're not actively eating? Hence the idea of it eating away at the brain and digestive systems. Since stomach acid is insanely strong, and can cause the stomach to eat itself, what if gula destroyed the mucus layer in the stomach and made the stomach eat itself, causing the feeling of never being full. As gula progresses, it starts to shut down the brain since the brain needs the fuel for the rest of the body to work, hence Megour going through what is essentially dementia.
As Megour forgot her daughter and husband, gula would continue to thrive and force her to only have one instinct to eat, but since gula would cause her organs to eat themselves, she would just feel worse and worse and forget more and more.
