So today is #blackwomensequalpay day and it’s OBVIOUSLY important to me. Just look at me. 💁🏽‍♀️ I match the description. This is a real thing in the music industry as well. I often hear, “wow, there’s no one like you” or “dang! You sing, play the bass, do acrobatics on stage, (insert whatever else)” yet, they’ll try and lowball me. I’m extremely good with numbers and I know my worth and I know I’m not easily duplicated. So I negotiate! Always! And I do it fully armed with all of the knowledge of what I uniquely bring to the table in every way. If they don’t see it, I’ll walk away in a heartbeat because something MASSIVE has always come my way after a walk away. But not everyone has the wherewithal to negotiate, and not everyone has the choice to walk away...and that’s why this day is so important. Own your power, know your worth, and let’s get equal pay for black women because #blackgirlmagic is a real thing and should be paid for. Anyway, love y’all!
