Kisa Sohma || Fruits Basket || Old Muse
Students clamored out of their seats when the bell rang that signaled the end of the school boy. Kisa, however, stayed behind in her seat, amber eyes staring at her desk and the book that laid on top of it. It didn’t take her long to learn that it was a bad idea to enter the hallways when everyone else did. With their mad rush to head home and get out of the building, her fellow schoolmates were like a wild hoard of animals.
And Kisa wanted no part of it.
After waiting a few minutes, she finally packed her belongings away into her bag and headed towards the classroom’s opened doorway, peering into the hallway. The coast was clear. She slowly walked through the hall, her eyes uncomfortably shifting back and forth. It didn’t take her long to get to the front doors of the school. She stood still for a moment, her hands clutched against her chest before slowly reaching out.
She stumbled backwards when the door opened, hitting her square in the nose. It took a minute for the pain to register in her mind, but she covered her nose when it did. She cried out slowly, her eyes wincing shut. The person that opened the door called out to her, profusely apologizing.
Kisa shook her head and opened her eyes. She smiled softly, her lips half-hidden behind her cupped hands. “It’s okay. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have been… standing in front of the door.”
Her hands lowered and her smile widened a
slight bit more. “There isn’t any harm done. It’s okay.” The person nodded at her and walked away. Once alone, she looked down at the ground at her shuffling feet. She rubbed at her nose again with one hand.
It still hurt, though.
