DR4 RANT (ALL EPISODES)

So basically this has the potential to be the best season of DR yet however, there are some thoughts I have cuz what even was that season

POSITIVES:

JAY KAI NYA DYNAMIC IS SO FUCKING GOOD OMG. I COULD WATCH A WHOLE ASS SEASON OF THEM JUST DOING WHAT THEY DID. THE COUPLE + THE BROTHER/THIRD WHEEL WAS SO FUNNY

LLOYD FOCUS. It was so fucking good I literally had to pause and rewatch some moments, and it had so many meaningful messages for a kids' show. Him talking to his younger self and himself with doubts... yeah, I'm sold - Siri play Kendrick Lamar DUCKWORTH.

COLE FOCUS. Finally, we got some of his solo fights and moments, and the fact that the writers REMEMBERED HE CAN'T TURN INTO A DRAGON DUE TO HIM BEING A GHOST?????? YES LORE ACCURATE

Pixzane. Soooo cuteeeeee

Wyldfire was SO ICONIC, I always liked her character but now, honestly can't wait for her personal development

Did I mention how much I love Jaya? Yeah I love jaya literally all their scenes where sosososo cute and sweet I love Jaya

MIDDLE GROUND

I like the fact that we learned more about the administration; however, I am still not satisfied with it. I want to know moreee

Am I the only one who is disappointed that Jay doesn't recall Skybound yet? Yeah? Oh okay

Frak and his father's dynamic was so well written - surprised by how good the portrayal of a toxic parent can be in a Lego show (not including Garmadady ofc)

The new intro is finally listenable

Arin x Euphrasia.... I honestly wish we got exposed of them more and more about Euphrasia's character because this ship has potential ONLY once we learn more about her because rn she's so dull...

I like how each character got their spotlight at least once - it's hard to showcase all 12 main characters so congrats to ninjago writers for splitting them up and fixing their mistakes from season 3!!!

LAND OF MONSTERS mention was nice, I like the fact that we got a whole different animation for it, please we need more ninjago legends plsplspls

Frak x Sora is no longer real... or is it? IDK

They constantly mention Shintaro idk why - queen Vania’s comeback is gonna be legendary…

NEGATIVES (HOT TAKES??)

I genuinely hate the structure of these episodes. Honestly, I wish we got two full episodes dedicated to Lloyd, one for Cole, two for Jaya + Kai, and two for the "younglings". I had to skim through some parts cause it looks like younger audiences cannot focus on one plot for more than 4 minutes (Thanks youtube shorts), and I felt stimulated as hell

I did not give a single fuck about the "weapon" or the land that Sora, Frak and Wyldfire were in. I'm sorry it was so cringey and boring.

The finale was so underwhelming... don't get me wrong, I still liked their dragon forms, but Beatrix as a reappearing villain was so pointless and the weapon was stupid, it literally only controlled some random ass elemental creatures with unbalanced strength - once beating one was a challenge, and later in the finale Nya literally soloed 4 at the same time like huhhhh

I was so happy for a moment when Lloyd turned into a dragon, I was like yes we are finally addressing his dragon heritage :D... OF COURSE NOT EVERYONE CAN TURN INTO DRAGONS I GUESS WE ARE STILL IGNORING THAT HUH NINJAGO WRITERS.

PREDICTIONS FOR SEASON 4 PART 2

Of course Sora's parents are gonna backstab the Ninja and support the empress literally if you guys do not see this coming you are blind

Who the hell is Ras master? If it's the overlord, I'm actually gonna crash out

the source dragons will all withdraw their powers unless Lloyd defeats Ras

When he's at his lowest,

Literally dying,

Lloyd calls out to his friends.

He reaches them through this hive mind green eye glowing connection thing

Because at this moment, Lloyd needs to be reminded of how they see him, rather than how he sees himself.

He's just heard all of his greatest fears and shames and hurts on full display. Those doubts and voices in the backs of our minds can be the harshest of enemies.

So now he needs to hear from someone else. He needs to see himself the way they do.

As a teacher.

As a leader.

As a friend.

As a brother.

I've been rewatching the new season for the 3rd time and I'm going INSANE over Lloyd and Enemy Lloyd's dynamic.

First of all, the way he GRINS when Lloyd realises what exactly it is that he's facing???

Buddy's smiling like he's about to get the sloppy toppy of his dreams

Sidenote, I really, REALLY like the fact that Enemy Lloyd is just Lloyd but a bitch. It feels much more personal than it would if it had been Oni Lloyd, since that would've been more horrific but also more separatable to Lloyd himself.

This leads nicely to my next point; Everything Enemy Lloyd says and does is something Lloyd has subconciously wanted to do to himself at some point. He is, by all means, just Lloyd's internal monologue with an attitude. So when Enemy Lloyd says he'll give Lloyd a "gift" by ending him, I think you can guess what that means about Lloyd's perception of himself.

I need them to have more scenes with a different dynamic. Like, something to show that Enemy Lloyd is Lloyd's inner thoughts and desires and thus CHANGES with them, but this time have it not be him hating himself to death. Maybe have Lloyd subconsciously yearn for something like rest or a good day but through the power of unstable magic and plot convenience it blows up in his face and Enemy Lloyd becomes that season/arc's main atagonist. Can we get an Evernight and March 7th scenario with them please.
