I'm here with translations of Loenese and Hermes for Lotm Ep13! (ฅ>ω<*ฅ)

I can't believe this is the last episode of the season, it came too fast. And my translations are late, tho this time it's cuz I didn't want to accidentally spoil the dubs only people.

I swear it wasn't only procrastination!

Anyway!

This episode had a lot of Loenese cursive, including a difficulty to read page flying through the air. Honestly half expected it to be word filler, but was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't.

It was a bit of a challenge, since getting a good close look at the page was hard and parts of it are weirdly worded. Far from the worst I've seen, but why do they keep accidentally splitting words in two? 'Adva nced' isn't the first word this has happened to, just last episode Lanevus's letter had 'coun tless' written in it. I can get misspellings, but this? How??

Regardless, I tried to write out a summary of what that page said + a version that could hopefully help clarify parts that could be confusing (like the pathways).

Honestly, there's not much more to say about the rest to be honest.

Translations aside...what do I do now? I could go back to the earlier episodes and translate parts I couldn't before (Such as Klein's diary in ep1, which I wasn't able to translate because I had yet to figure out cursive) or perhaps I should go through the chibi episodes?

I could maybe attempt to make a guide for the cursive writing and Hermes. If that's something people want.

What do you guys think? What should I do next?

I'm back with translations of Loenese and Hermes for Lotm Ep12! (ฅ>ω<*ฅ)

I can't believe this is the second last episode in this season, time has passed so fast!

Notes for this episode include a revisit to the gravestones we saw in ep2, this time with the addition of poor Kenley. ∪﹏∪

The rest of the names are fun too, but I'm not gonna say why. (^_-)-☆

One interesting detail I noticed was the book, which appears to be written in actual English and not in Loenese.

They probably put it upside down to make it less obvious, but can't hide that from me! I see you! ✧(≖ ◡ ≖✿)

The books were probably 3D assets made before and reused, or bought. Tho couldn't they have at least tried to change the texture? Probably didn't think about it too much, most would never even notice. That's just my guess tho.

The book itself is interesting too. As mentioned, "TURNER" is probably referring to famous British painter J.M.W.Turner (1775 - 1851). Hence the 'complete works' part. According to my breif non-fact checked googling, his last words were "The sun is God". Which I found amusing in the context of Lotm and Klein's rather...heated encounter with a God. Although he's probably more likely talking about the importance of lighting in paintings. Who knows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On another note, I'm not fully confident about the "eventually" part of the red text. Cuz the text looked more like "eventhall", but that didn't really make any sense. It felt more likely that they misspelled "eventually", since the line "Madness will eventhall come to cost" doesn't make sense.

Wow, I can't believe after this there's just one episode left (until the extra episodes and future seasons). What will I do after this? Try to find stuff in the chibi episodes? Revisit what I couldn't translate in the beginning?

We'll see, still one more to go!

Guess who's back with translations of Loenese and Hermes for Lotm Ep11? Me (ฅ>ω<*ฅ)!

This episode had some interesting content, like the laws that actually look like laws. How come they gave us text that made sense in the briefly seen law book, but left the clearly seen newspaper in ep8 as keyboard mash? (¯―¯٥)

This is why I translate everything I see, because you never know until you check whether it'll be real text or filler nonsense.

The dolls were straight forward, however the last doll I'm a little unsure of. At first I thought it might be "Mary Maynard" again, as we see that doll twice. But, while the "Maynard" part fit, "Mary" looked different. The last letter looked more like an 'n' than a 'y' and the first letter didn't look like an 'm'. Comparing this doll to the other two made the difference stand out even more. But, it was too blurry to tell what exactly was written. I went back to the previous episode to check Mary's dead husband's name to see if that fit. I even wrote both names in cursive to see which Maynard name fit best. And "John" does fit, at least better than "Mary". In the end I'm not 100% sure, but that was my best guess.

Last thing I want to mention is my favorite translation for this episode (>ω<).

A giant sign on the roof saying;

That Must Not"

'The Shop That Must Not' what?? No context either. Which made me laugh a lot. So, I have a fun challenge for you guys:

Since they didn't give us context, lets make up our own!

The funnier the better! What is this shop and what must it not??

Yeah this episode gave me a challenge with barely readable Ancient Hermes! Honestly, I expected it to be nonsense filler text, but was surprised to find actual words. Sadly, I couldn't get all of it because parts were too faded. But, it looks like it's more or less just the same as what the Chinese says.

There's not much more to say with this one. Still, hope you enjoyed this!

Gosh this ep was sad, but gotta go through it all. m(_ _;)m

It's a bit of a shame that the subtitles doesn't translate the fake Roselle charm (which says "Dumbass"), because unless you can read Chinese you wouldn't really understand Klein's reaction. (¯―¯٥)

I did notice that the english dub did actually mention it in ep5, which was a nice detail. •̀.̫•́✧

I also think that this text that looks like OG Klein's diary mixed in a blender into a goo of words that looks like it should make sense but doesn't is their default 'this page needs cursive writing, but content isn't important' text. I've seen it repeated a few times now, so that's probably why.

Sorry these became later than planned (again), but I had to travel and stuff. Ya know, life. (-_-;)

There wasn't a lot for this episode.

I'm kinda disappointed they gave us a newspaper with just gibberish. Such a clear shot of it too ∪△∪. But, I translated everything anyways in case anyone was curious.

The translations for Ep9 are done and will come tomorrow or the day after.

I'm finally back with translations of Loenese and Hermes for Lotm ep7! (ฅ>ω<*ฅ)

Apologies for the long wait, hope nobody was worried I died for trying to translate the Antigonus notebook. Did run into some bad luck tho, which is why I'm so late.(-_-;)

Usually I try realising these before the next episode comes out, but the week after ep7 I was busy finishing a cosplay for that weekend for a con and since there was so much content that ep, I couldn't complete it on time. Aaannnd then I got sick the day after the con..(¯―¯٥)

I may or may not also have accidentally started a fire at some point, but that's besides the point.

Anyway! Enough of my excuses! I'm done and it's here! (๑•̀ㅁ•́๑)✧

Ep7 had a lot of text and a lot of it was barley comprehensible pages of cursive writing. Including even the Antigonus notebook!

Which was kinda exciting at first, only for it to give me what looks like OG Klein's diary put into a blender, mixed into a goo of words that looks like it should make sense but doesn't. (ーー;)

I really tried my best, but I don't think it's meant to mean anything at all. Which is fair enough I guess.

There were a lot of rituals in this episode and even with Zeeshiry helping me try to solve them, we could only really solve the clown potion one. I did figure out the last half of them, but not all of it unfortunately. Doesn't help that two of them were identical, which means those two may not have a correct translation.

But on the bright side we got confirmation about what some of the Hermes letters look like in cursive, which is bigger than you think. Because it's almost impossible to guess your way through cursive hermes. Trust me, I've tried for weeks.

Then there's the list of random names. What can I say? They've got some uniquely named regulars over at that library XD.

"Yoom" was a fun one, I pity whoever got named "Hdtfa". I feel like "Vili Wery" is the most normal of the random names.

I just wished they gave us a fun easter egg like with the graves, but nope. Unless I'm completely forgetting someone. Which is entirely possible because I'm awful at remembering names. But it doesn't look like it.

Luckily the next two episodes didn't have as much to translate, meaning I'll hopefully be able to finish them before the end of the week!

I have returned once more with the LOTM Donghua Loenese/Hermes translation collection for Ep6! (ฅ>ω<*ฅ)

This episode gave us yet another charm to solve together with help from Zeeshiry!

This one a little trickier than the last because this time we really had to do some guesswork. (；´∀｀)

Recap of how hermes on charms work for those who don't know:

Written Hermes in the Donghua is made by taking the first letter of each Chinese characters' pinyin (basically pronunciation guide using the latin alphabet) + the last letter of the last character. Which you can see on the translations for the locations. HOWEVER! On charms and other mystical items (like the mirror in ep4) we've noticed that they don't always split the hermes word up. Which makes it a little harder to solve.

It's not impossible to solve hermes because they usually chant what is written, but this time that's only true for the first half of the Requiem charm (Fēi Hóng [绯红] {Crimson}). The second part of the chant was Ān Hún [安魂] {Requiem}, which doesn't end with a g and therefore doesn't fit. Although Ān [安] alone can mean {calm}, so it could still be a possible fit. Making it up to Zeeshiry to find a Chinese character that starts and ends with HG and that could fit after Ān.

So this time we actually had to guess the most fitting. And Zeeshiry did find a great fit!

This is our current best guess for the Requiem charm:

As for the other text written on the charm (can't read the other symbols, only the Hermes):

Which gives us:

(A) - [ 安 ] Ān {Calm}

(HG) - [ 訌 ] HònG {Internal conflict; discord}

Like I said before, this is just our best guess and the last part might not be 100% correct. But I feel like it sounds right!

We did attempt to translate the cursive hermes he writes when courting death, but aside from guessing like 3 letters, nothing really fit. Written cursive Hermes is a pain and we haven't figured out how all the letters look yet, but maybe later down the line we'll solve it.

Charm aside, here are the rest of the translations!

Aside from the Hermes, I hope the book translation made sense. I tried my best with it, but it's a bit hard when it's just a bunch of cut off sentences. Still, I wanted to include it and tried to make it make as much sense as possible.

This time for episode 5!

(Btw because I can't add more then 10 pictures, I couldn't add all my translations. I only added the most important ones. But of people still want a part 2 with the 3 images I couldn't add, let me know)

This time we got to see some Ancient Hermes outside of the intro and it appears like it'll follow the same pattern as with Hermes. Which makes sense since they're related languages.

This time I was even able to guess my way to the answer myself! (๑•̀ㅁ•́๑)✧

Only for Witch tho, still needed Zeeshiry's help with the Chinese for Joyce Meyer's divination. (We actually solved some hermes cursive! ＼(^o^)／ .For once it wasn't damn near impossible).

You all can also thank her for noticing the hilarious fact that 'Roselle's mystical incantation' basically just says dumbass, which definitely explains Klein's confidence in that it wouldn't do what they thought it did (>ω<).

When trying to translate the market signs I struggled a bit because it didn't really make sense at first. I took a small break to translate the text on the money Klein uses to pay at the market and noticed that it didn't say "Soli" like I expected. I even compared the text to the Soli notes Klein uses to pay for bread in Ep1 and saw that they weren't the same. Which was weird because I had never heard of "Sulles" before, but it was the only thing that fit both the money and signs. Idk what's up with that, I'm just here to tell you it's there.

I really tried hard to get everything on the detective map. Even crossreferenced locations with the wiki to try to get the too blurry to see text.

Unfortunately, some of it was simply too blurry to make out even after hours of trying and coming back to it over days.

Sadly, I couldn't get it. But I still got most of it in the end.

Also!

This episode I realized that sometimes text can be flipped or mirrored, something I hadn't even thought to check for before. There were so many times in this episode where I only solved it after flipping the text around. Like the red sign, the possible watermark on the money, the sulle notes, the doll and Citrine room sign.

Are they leveling up the difficulty or something? (●—●)

I'm finally here with the collection of translations for the Lotm donghua episode 4! (ฅ>ω<*ฅ)

Apologies for being so late with it, but it's been so HOT this week and it was kinda hard to work on it while trying to not melt into a puddle of Ninma goo. (；´∀｀)

Being toated aside, I got some exciting stuff to share! Since I've now got a better understand of how Hermes work, I'll be including more of it alongside the Loenese translations! And a super special thanks to Zeeshiry on reddit who has helped me with translating the Hermes on the mirror! We've been working together on the Hermes where I can't solve it with google translating Chinese alone. So I really couldn't have done it without her! (๑•̀ㅁ•́๑)✧

Btw, the mirror Hermes matches the chant spoken in the episode perfectly, which is how we were able to figure it out and be confident that we got it right.

I finally had a breakthrough with understanding how Hermes in the Lotm donghua works! (ฅ>ω<*ฅ)

Or at least I've discovered a pattern to it. Visual explanation time!

In the beginning, Hermes didn't make any sense because as you can see, directly translated hermes doesn't give you words like Ancient Hermes and Loenese does. With the exception of the mid episode info slides, every other time hermes appeared it looked like gibberish. (-_-;)

But earlier this week I suddenly had a breakthrough! ＼(^o^)／

I was trying to see if there was any connection between the Chinese characters and the hermes. I discovered that when the characters were spelled out in the latin alphabet, the first letter of each character matched the hermes letters and always ended on the same last letter.

As you can see in the picture, this pattern fits almost every time we see Hermes, to the point where it's hard to call it a coincidence.

Btw, I literally know next to no Chinese at all and only discovered this through guessing my way through google translate.

So that's the usual Hermes pattern, which means that it usually doesn't give you any new info.

That changed with the intro of the slumber charm.

Suddenly I had to try figure out the characters based on only the Hermes letters. Which is kinda hard when you don't know the language at all. (；´∀｀)

Alone, I could only guess that the CMN could be "Chén MiáN" (沉眠) which can be translated to 'Deep sleep/slumber'. Which could fit. But the rest? I couldn't solve alone. (-_-;)

Thankfully I got some help from zeeshiry on Reddit! (๑•̀ㅁ•́๑)✧

Who knows some Chinese and with her help we were able to come up with some theories about the writing on the charm!

Our current theory is that 'HYECMN' is split into two, 'HYE' and 'CMN'.

Because 'HYE' could mean "Hēi yè" (黑夜) which can mean 'Black night' and is also the characters used for 'Evernight'.

Basically, this means that 'HYECMN' can stand for "Hēiyè Chénmián" (黑夜沉眠). Meaning "Black night deep sleep/slumber" or "Evernight deep sleep/slumber". Both of which feel like they'd fit the slumber charm.

As for the rest of the text on the charm...

It's harder to tell because we don't know how it's supposed to be read. Additionally, 'NNS' is almost impossible with the current pattern because practically no Chinese characters ends with S.

So one theory for NNS that Zeeshiry came with was that it could be rearranged into NSN, which could be "Nü shén" (女神) meaning 'Goddess'.

If this is the case, then a possible translation of the other hermes text on the charm could be:

H -> "Hēi" (黑) [Black]

YE -> "YÈ" (夜) [Night]

CMN  -> "Chén MiáN" (沉眠) [Deep sleep]

HYE -> "HēiYÈ" (黑夜) [Evernight]

NNS (NSN) -> "Nü ShéN" (女神) [Goddess]

That is currently our best guess and theory, even if it doesn't match perfectly with the previous pattern. It's the best we could come up with until we learn more about charms.

Even though there's still a lot unsolved about Hermes, I'm honestly just really proud I discovered anything at all. It really confused me in the beginning and it's so satisfying to have been able to find a possible key to decoding hermes.

This might not seem like a big deal to casual veiws, but to us who've hit a wall of confusion whenever we tried translating Hermes, this is a significant discovery.

Sorry it took a while, but I was really trying hard to decifer the Hermes on the Slumber charms. (；´∀｀)

Good news is: I actually might've cracked how most of the Hermes language works! •̀.̫•́✧

It isn't just gibberish and there's actually logic behind it.

Bad news is: Still haven't figured out the slumber charm. m(_ _;)m

Unfortunate, but I'm honestly just enjoying the feeling of having figured out at least something about Hermes to be too hung up on it. I won't give up on solving it, just can't yet.

If you're curious about what I discovered about how Hermes works, I plan on making a separate post for that because I need to explain a bit for it to make sense.

I'm back with more Lord of the Mysteries Danghua Ancient Hermes/Loenese translations! (ฅ>ω<*ฅ)

And this time with the intro sequence and the ending tree, which surprisingly aren't the same. (๑•̀ㅁ•́๑)✧

Intro tree first!

I'm kinda shocked this tree hasn't been talked about more because there are a lot of subtle foreshadowing and awesome details. Like the different colors and effects each icon has. Ever noticed that Sleepless straight up disappears?! (>ω<)

I won't explain the meaning behind the details, as to not spoil anyone.

I have with me the tree we see briefly during the ending song, because as you'll probably notice; It's different, weird and confused me very much when translating.

My best guess is that since the names that are changed still have a similar meaning, this was probably a translation error that was later fixed for the intro. That's the only thing that really makes sense to me.

(Honestly, Marauder being called Burglar made me laugh (>ω<). I feel like it makes the mistake worth keeping lmao)

They probably didn't expect people to hyper focus and try to decode the ending tree with determination. (；´∀｀)

Too bad, the only thing that can stop me from uncovering translation errors is too blurry text or that cursed cursive writing!

The moment I discovered that I could actually translate some of the writing in the Lotm donghua, I couldn't resist diving into translating as much as I could. Most of my discoveries were pretty standard stuff, like how the book Leonard is reading is titled "Roselle poetry collection".

But as I was casually translating the names on the tombstones in Ep2 I discovered something I just add to share!

I'll just leave this here for the joy of the novel readers and the foreshadowing for the non-readers.

If people are interested, I could share more fun details like this in the future (if I find anymore fun details like this). I'm currently just translating for my own enjoyment and didn't plan on sharing anything until I found this one that was so good it'd be a shame if it remained undiscovered. I explore my take on his lore (like how he is a total tech nerd XD) and the time he lived in, along with his friends (like Ancient Zelda, who is very different from your average Zelda).

I have so many thoughts and ideas built up this past year, but since I can be very slow at art (and posting it), I haven't been able to share much of it. Only a few art works and comics.

But I really want to share more of my AU and my thoughts behind it. So I thought "why not a fun QnA?"

I'll try awnsering with some art if I can (if I even get any questions at all (¯―¯٥)).

You can directly ask my characters (The Ancient Hero or Ancient Zelda (or others)) or me (Ninma)! Or you can just yeet the question and I respond with what feels best.
