I'd like to know if the issue me and a few friends are having with tumblr is being experienced by anyone else regarding the tagging system, but it involves sensitive subjects, so please don't look if you can't handle those mentioned in the tw above. thank you!
Basically, one of my friends noticed the suggested tags on a post when they went to type their own:
She clearly stated that they've never interacted with, liked or tagged any post with pro-ana messaging, and was confused as to how these came up, as they weren't even left as tags on the prev reblog, or the op. He asked if we'd try, and got the exact same results.
So we figured, maybe it's just the post? But when I tried it on another post by a popular tumblr user, one which no one would leave these tags on, sure enough...
If you keep scrolling past the ed tags, you also find sh tags 🫠
Important to note: we're also getting these suggestions in the search functions
More of our friends tested it, with the same result. This is clearly a wider issue, considering that none of us engage with these communities, we all live in different countries, but none of these are trending. We can't even report the issue, bcs trying prompts us to enter a URL.
I'm kind of at a loss for how to deal with this - but in case anyone is triggered by these topics, it's an awful experience seeing them pop up. I guess any advice on how to properly proceed/raise awareness/get staff attention on this issue would be very much appreciated.

there's a post on here that's like "the worst thing a piece of fiction can be is mean", and while I agree with that, I think it being insincere is just as bad. nothing more obnoxious than a story that's constantly sneering and rolling its eyes at its own genre in a bid to seem clever and above it all.

last night i dreamt tumblr added like a billion buttons to the mobile app so instead of this

and everyone just rolled with it but sometimes the wide naruto got too wide and blocked off all the other buttons and people would just post "got naruto'd again :/" and the only way to reset him was to log out and log back in
like the return of the r slur and horrible fatphobia and gay jokes and the misogyny oh my fucking god can we talk about the misogyny. we have culturally regressed to the eary 2010s but when you try to call people out they’re liek ohhh it’s just a joke 😂. i’m sorry but i don’t want to hear jokes about pedophilia or about rape or about racism that is not funny and it never will be. everything is ironic and if you get offended it’s cuz you’re a crazy femnazi who cares too much. because it’s apparently uncool to take anything serious or do anything with actual sincerity anymore
