My Roman Empire is remembering that for a year before Lucy joined Fairy Tail, Natsu was depressed and distanced from everyone because of Lisana's death but Lucy's presence changed his life around completely.

I think somebody needs to check in on natsu like mentally because between gray "active suicide risk" fullbuster, erza "nah I'll be fine" scarlet and Lucy "everyone wants to fucking kill me" heartfilia hes the only one out here keeping these people alive.
one thing i miss from the more early chapters of fairy tail are definitely the outfit choices used for the chapter covers… mashima was out here making fashion statements

Lucy Has So Much Impact On Natsu's Actions
Natsu has a pretty rough and boisterous nature, he is unbashed. He loves new challenges and sparring with strong people. Loves displaying brute strength and applies that to most situation instead of using his head first. Unlike Lucy, or sometimes Gray and Erza, he doesn't look for ways to sort out his problems inoffensively to avoid fighting. Fighting is a second nature to him, even more so when his beloved friends are in question. And sometimes it's a way of evaluation.
But he puts his preferences aside for Lucy, and it matters.
While trying to break Erigor's wind wall, Natsu hurts himself and Lucy stops him from doing so any further. And he stops. Instead of trying to harm himself anymore, he uses his wits and suggests a way to get out of the wind cage.
Natsu wants revenge from the Phantom Lord and he's ready to fight them for doing horrible things to Fairy Tail. But Lucy feels guilty and starts crying.
Natsu doesn't know why, he doesn't understand.
But he puts his personal preferences aside for her, drops the idea of attacking Phantom Lord again, and agrees to take her to the guild.
Natsu being all furious and ready to fight Faust and his army makes sense, they are treating his precious friends as mere source of magic, the lacrima is being chipped at. But the situation demands otherwise.
So Lucy holds him back from losing his temper and attacking the Edolas army.
Yet again, Natsu understands Lucy's message and puts his own emotions aside for her. Stops in his tracks, doesn't let his instincts get the better of him in a dire situation.
Because she is there with him.
And that's why-
Even when Natsu has no control over his actions and doesn't know what he's doing, he still recognises her presence and stops immediately after realising Lucy is there for him. After she tells him that it's alright and over.
