It was supposed to be a normal day, he was just on his way back from his day shift at the convenience store. Usually he prefers the night shifts, because there was better pay and less people on the streets around- however, he had to take over the shift of a sick coworker. And unfortunately, today there was an even bigger crowd on his way home than usually. Why were they all gathered near that one lake? Did someone drown there or something like that?

Shin wasn’t usually a busybody, really. But somehow this whole situation did seem concerning. Or at least, it sounded as it was until he heard what the crowd was whispering about. Apparently, something was spotted in this lake, a huge fish? A sea monster? Something else that seemed suspiciously unreal? 

Sheesh, he knew he should have gone straight home. The turmoil was for nothing, as so often with people. They really wanted to believe just anything, huh?

“This is so stupid, people really have nothing better to do than believing in some stupid fairy tale... How sad.”

    “I was only hoping you could explain your.. computer to me. Is that a problem? In exchange, I can offer some knowledge of my own. Is there anything in particular you’re looking for?” She wasn’t truly offended by his statements– Rather, she just wanted answers. His device could be useful– Would be useful. “Ah, but first.. Let me introduce myself. My name is Edelgard von Hresvelg. And you?”

“Er... what?” This was a first. He never had to explain to anyone what a computer was before, but looking at the miss before him a little closer, she did seem like... she wasn’t from their timeline. How do you even start with explaining what a computer is though? 

“You’re not making fun of me, right? You genuinely don’t have any idea about this, huh?” Edelgard von Hresvelg, what a name, yeah, she definitely wasn’t from here. So she wasn’t playing games, good. 

“Ah, I’m Shin... Shin Tsukimi. It’s a pleasure, miss Edelgard. Hm... I’d be willing to tell you more about that handy device, but first, about your offer... Maybe it would help to know how much about modern technology you know in general?”

    Edelgard interacted with quite a lot of people each day– To that end, it was no surprise to see new faces. Still, something about this boy seemed very.. peculiar. Perhaps.. Ah. It was that device he was tapping away at. The screen was lit up as his fingers moved fast across what was below. Certainly it was something that she had to look into further. With careful strides, she approached him in the front.

    “My apologies if I’m intruding. You seem rather.. engrossed in what you’re doing. That device of yours– I must know what that is. I can’t say I’ve ever seen something like it before. Did you craft it yourself?”

“What?” Ah, that must’ve been a rude way to greet someone. But it wasn’t like he did expect someone to approach him right in this moment. “That device...?” He repeated slowly, still not really getting what she asked him about. Sure, the only device he was holding right now was his computer, but was there really someone who wouldn’t know what a laptop is? 

“Could you mean my laptop? It’s a, uh, portable computer. You’ve never seen one before?” Wait, now she even asked him if he crafted it? This lady sure seemed to be new around here. But where could she even come from to not know anything about this stuff...?

“Ahaha... no. Sorry to disappoint you, but, I bought it. Hey.. are you okay...? Are you lost or something?”

“Aww, just that little bit of spice turned you off from those foods that much? You have such a sensitive tongue, Shin.” Not sure what other kind of a response Shin was expecting from this guy though, as a smile (predictably) spread a little too wide over his lips. 

“I wonder what other foods I might be able to turn you off from – just kidding, ahaha! It would be absolutely terrible if you wouldn’t be able to eat something like your precious soup for the rest of your life, right?” 

“Forget it.” No, he can’t be serious! Was he really planning to ruin one of his main nutrition source?! What an evil man. He really did enjoy ruining his life. “I won’t ever try any kind of soup from you, no matter how delicious it may look. So just admit it, Hiyori. You lost this...”

Did he really though? Considering all of his previous wins over him, the loser of them always will be none other than himself huh... It still was a shame about the Tacos and Curry...

Why did I even hang out with you back then, you’re terrible! Because of you, I never tried any curry or taco again since then! I hope you’re happy now!” It wasn’t like he had a very big variety in his diet to begin with though...
