Zach’s New Life, Chapter 9: Zach’s Family
Read Chapter 8
————————————————————————
I knew this day was coming, but I was still nervous. How could I not be? I stood in a bulky diaper, only barely covered by an infantile tuxedo onesie for everyone to see.
By wedding standards, it wasn’t a huge affair; there were only around fifty guests, but all of those guests were now focused on me, including Mommy Claire and I’s mutual friends and even her parents who knew me from when we dated. This felt much scarier than the practice wedding.
All I had to do was waddle up to the altar and present the ring. It was a job plenty of little kids had done before, but they didn’t have the reason to be humiliated that I did. Despite Mommy and Momma’s treatment of me over the last number of months, I couldn’t reconcile that I was actually an adult doing something humiliating in front of so many people.
Mommy Claire smiled at me encouragingly from the altar as she waved me up.
I blushed as I took a step forward, realizing that this must’ve been their plan all along. Mommy and Momma had slowly introduced me to others as their baby and now it seemed that I was firmly cemented into that role for every onlooker here, too.
It wasn’t only that there were a lot more people this time. Whenever Mommy and Momma pushed me further into the baby role in the past, they would ease me into it with generous maternal affections and love. I blushed, realizing how much I’d come to depend on those parental affections in my new life, especially since Mommy and Momma had been so busy with this wedding. Because of this, I had spent a lot more time being babysat by Ms. Savannah. Really, I missed my mommies. And now with the wedding… I don’t know, I guess I was a little worried about if this changed anything between us. I had come to really enjoy my new life, and I didn’t want my mommies to leave me behind. My eyes started to well with desperate tears at the thought, but I couldn’t cry in front of all these people. It took all my resolve to walk down the aisle without bursting in to tears, and I immediately felt significantly more tired after containing that particular emotional outburst.
The crowd coo’d and dawwed like I was an actual toddler as I waddled up with the ring. When I got to the altar, Momma tussled my hair as she took the ring, and Mommy gave me a gentle kiss on my forehead. They were small, albeit embarrassing, gestures, but I couldn’t deny how much they meant to me at the moment.
Luckily, everyone’s attention returned to the happy couple at the altar once my role as the ring bearer was completed. In comparison to the agonizingly blushy moments as the ring-bearer, the rest of the ceremony sped by rather quickly. I should’ve savored it more, unaware of what was in store for me at the reception.
The reception took place in a hotel ballroom, and there was a dance floor and a table set up with memories of the happy couple for guests to admire. But those weren’t the only memories displayed for all to see.
My stomach dropped when I finally saw it: ‘Little Zachie’s First Baby Book!” displayed in bright pastel lettering on the cover.
People had been flipping through this book all night. Though I already knew what I’d find, I couldn’t stop myself from flipping through the book’s pages. I saw images of the first night I slept in my crib, drunk and passed out. I saw my first ever tantrum being thrown in my car seat. I saw images of me playing blissfully at the playground. I even saw an image of me humping my oversized teddy bear.
It was finally too much. Tears started to well in my eyes. These memories were undoubtedly happy, but they were also wrapped in embarrassment. I desperately wished I had my pacifier. I didn’t want to make Mommy and Momma’s special night about me, but I just couldn’t stop the outpouring of tears and stomping of my feet that came with my explosive tantrum.
Mommy and Momma quickly rushed over.
“What’s wrong sweetheart?” Mommy cupped my crotch curiously, “You don’t have a dirty diaper, so what is it, baby?”
“Here,” Momma Lucy produced my pacifier and plopped it into my mouth, “This should help you calm down a bit, buddy.”
I suckled quickly as I relaxed a little bit.
“Now, can you tell Mommy what’s wrong?” Mommy Claire gently wiped a tear from my cheeks.
“D-da baby book,” I huffed around my paci.
“Oh, but you’re so cute in it, Kiddo!” Momma offered.
“It embawasing!” I lisped through the paci, “A-and I wan my mommies! You guys have been so busy with the wedding, and I miss you! The baby book shows that I’m undeniably a baby, but I miss feeling like… feeling like your baby…”
“Oh Honey,” Mommy wrapped me in a hug, which Momma soon joined in on.
“A-and you guys are gonna go on your honeymoon, which I know is only for big kids, and I-I’ll miss you even more!” I broke down crying again.
“Oh Kiddo,” Momma Lucy giggled, “You didn’t finish looking through your baby book, did you?”
“N-no?” I blinked, confused about what I had missed.
“Go on,” Mommy beamed. “Look at the back of the baby book.”
I quickly flipped to the last page of the baby book, and my pacifier slipped out of my mouth in shock.
“We really should’ve clipped it to his onesie,” Momma Lucy sighed.
I ignored her teasing as I took in the contents of the book. First, I saw a laminated certificate of adoption, showing that Zach Slider, me, had been officially adopted by Claire and Lucy Elise.
On the immediately adjacent page, I saw printed screenshots for three tickets to Disney World with the caption, ‘Our little family is going to Disney!’
“Y-you’re giving up your adult honeymoon, so we can all go to Disney World?” tears welled in my eyes again, but this time they were happy tears.
“Well, we’re still going to have an adult honeymoon at some point, and you will be getting babysat,” Momma Lucy answered honestly.
“But you’re our precious baby boy –officially now too– and we wanted to do something sweet with you as a family.” Mommy Claire brushed a stray strand of hair out of my eyes.
“We love you, little one,” Momma Lucy said as they wrapped me up in a sweet hug.
“I love you, too,” I melted into their affections. I really did love my new life with them.
“It’s wayyy past your bedtime,” Momma smiled, “And all these big feelings have probably tuckered you out. How about we tuck you in and read you a bedtime story?”
“I would like that,” I smiled.

Hey everyone, thank you for reading — this story has meant a lot to a lot of people, myself included. But, good things must come to an end, and this is it. Little Zachie has found his new, loving family and his new life. Thanks to everyone who’s read this far and offered words of encouragement and praise — this story likely wouldn’t exist without you.
I’m fairly satisfied with this ending, so it’s unlikely this story will continue further. There might be an epilogue if you praise me and/or beg me for it. (Cuz I’m sadistic like that ig)
But anyways, this has been Zach’s New Life, and I genuinely hoped you’ve enjoyed!!
Wonderful story.Please continue
